Opus Prime Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
I have very serious food allergies (I can only eat about 30 different foods) and also have allergies to many seasonings (like garlic). Because of this it is very difficult for me to eat at restaurants for fear of cross contamination I have not eaten at a restaurant in about 18 months and have been making all my meals at home. The manager, Billy, offered to have the chef make my salmon in separate pans and showed the chef a list of foods I could have so he could create a custom veggie side dish for me (asparagus with sauteed spinach and shallots). The food was delicious, the staff was gracious, and I had no allergic reactions! I was very happy with my experience and would highly recommend to anyone! (Special thanks to the kitchen staff for being so accommodating!)
This was the second time we had dinner at this location. The first time was wonderful. The waiter was extremely good and definitely left a great impression. The wine was good and the food was even better. This dining experience was very different. Our waitress seemed to be doing the best she could, but seemed very overwhelmed. The wine was fine, but the food was not. My husband got the streak and I got the sea bass. The sea bass and risotto was not cooked properly and my husband was ill all the next day. For as expensive as the meal was and the lack of quality, we most likely won't be returning.
My wife and I tried Opus for Valentines Day. They were not prepared for that evening. It took over 20 mins to get our drinks ordered, the the wait staff would disappear for 20 mins at a time before coming back to take our order or refills. We took our desserts to go after we had been there for over and hour and half. And they brought our appetizers out twice - they seemed very confused and not organized. The food was pretty good but there are too many steak houses in OKC that have great service for us to return here.
I booked this for Valentine’s Day 3 weeks early. I was not aware it would be a special menu. The menu didn’t have what I wanted to eat. The seafood linguini dish I had was poorly described and not at all what I expected! My husbands steak was improperly over cooked but didn’t want to wait for another after waiting an hour and a half for it! The best part of the meal was the crab cake, everything else had been pre-prepared and not good.....Need a better, less expensive wine list. First time to eat here, sadly the last. I had hoped it might compare to Mahogany but no, not at all!
Overall Opus is a very nice restaurant. Obviously popular too. The food was good and Keith, our waiter, was excellent. However, where they sat us was less than satisfactory. If we had not made reservations I would have no right to complain. However, I made reservations two weeks in advance. This was for a valentines dinner, and they sat us right next to the bar where all the waiters pick up drink orders, kitchen entrance and path to the restrooms. Not exactly romantic. Very disappointed. And right before we left the manager comes by and says we didn’t get charged for the entertainment, ha ha...not.
My husband and I had a wonderful date. The service staff was friendly we got started off with a little loaf of bread and it was hot, soft and fresh , the appetizer we got was lobster cargo and it was buttery goodness. Cowboy cut was cooked perfectly. Dessert was a chocolate cake called decadence and it was divine. Overall a wonderful date.
This steakhouse was a good choice for my wife and I to have a good night out together. Had a couple of dislikes of the food. First had the oysters for the app. They were served on a oyster platter not on ice. Not very cold like we like our oysters. But we’re very good. Not sure of the type of oyster we’re not told. We ordered the strip steak medium rare. Steak was cooked perfect very good flavor but had a chunk of bone which I bite into was not pleased about it. The sides, asparagus and baked potato were very good hard to mess those up. After main course we both ordered desserts. She ordered the key lime pie and I ordered the bananas fosters. She like the pie but did not like the cheap tasting lime syrup drizzled on top. My fosters had bananas that were not ripe and had a bad starchy taste to them would have been very good with a ripe banana. Overall would eat here again.
I was looking forward to eating at Opus Prime as an alternative to Red Prime, Mahogany Steakhouse or Mickey Mantels and boy was I extremely disappointed. We were there on a Thursday evening and there was only 1 other table occupied the service was good and we had a very helpful and nice waitress. The wine list was extensive but overly priced! The menu was your typical steakhouse with a few fish additions. We started with calamari which was nothing more than blah, no seasonings what so ever and the cocktail sauce was sweet ketchup at best. Next we had a wedge salad which was not bad by any means but lacking flavor. We then had filet and lobster tail. The filet was done to our desired temp but again virtually flavorless. We had asked for a side of bernaise which the waitress provided but it was runny and cold! The lobster tail was adequate with drawn butter but nothing to make me want to come back. We opted for after dinner drinks instead of dessert, I ordered a Brandy Ice which I almost sent back because I am pretty confident they didn’t put a drop of brandy in it so I paid $11 for a vanilla milkshake in a brandy glass. Our bill for 2 people was $271 before tip which in my book should have gotten us an above average meal. Needless to say we will be sticking to the above mentioned steakhouses in the future.
We’ve dined several time here and have enjoyed each time. A bit noisy as dined early on New Years and just a table for two, but over all was okay. I used my Open Table membership to book this reservation. Would hope next time that we would be seated away from the bar and kitchen door, as was extremely busy and lots of breakage and droppings of bar glasses of such inside of these. I might suggest that the booth for two be closed and left for the waiters to come and go thru and give them more space to put the bar glasses as well..
We love Opus for the location, top-notch service, and peaceful atmosphere - we've been coming here for special occasions for years. However, each time we go our food experience is a bit different, sometimes it amazing, other times the food arrives cold and lackluster...this was our experience on New Years Eve. Consistency in the kitchen and a larger social media presence would push this place over the top.
