Opus 9 Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Service by Anna was great; too much light from ceiling lighting; Lavash Crackers were very greasy: steak was very sinewy and was too rare, (did not send back to the kitchen): excellent wine pour and dessert was very good and champagne in honor of our anniversary was a nice touch.
Unfortunately the restaurant was not prepared to handle the regular brunch crowd and the very large party celebrating a 50th birthday. They were slow to replenish the foods that were popular such as the eggs benedict and bread pudding and roast beef. These shortages occurred because the entire group in the back room got into the buffet line all at once.
That being said, the quality of the food is always consistently good, the service is also consistently good, we were not rushed, just had to wait a while for our favorites. This is still the best brunch around.
The steaks and salads were phenomenal but the lobster was flavorless and the cheesecake for dessert was not NY style. Also, the service was lacking. We asked for an appetizer that we didn’t receive. We asked for a second drink that we didn’t receive, and we asked for recommendations on the wine list that the server could not provide. The server was very pleasant and told us he would be serving us, even going as far as giving us a business card, then didn’t serve our food so the person doing that mixed up the order. That isn’t important, however, if you are going to portend to be an upscale restaurant, get those little details correct. We traveled 400 miles and selected this restaurant based upon the ratings on open table. While good, it was not worth the cost of the meal.
Lunch for wife and me on 10 Nov 2017. Calamari appetizer was bland. No spices in breading. My fish and chips also bland. Needed malted vinegar, salt, and I had to ask for tartar sauce. Wife’s salmon was OK. Had a pesky fly buzzing our table all lunch. Service from Ryan was very good.
We love this restaurant but for the first time my husbands steak and plate came out cold. The manager actually took it back to the kitchen. When the steak arrived the plate was slightly warmer but not the steak. If time allows I would recommend sending the steak back until it's right especially for the price. Time didn't allow that for us.
ALWAYS love Opus 9, especially when you're on their email list and are notified of their amazing specials. For example, almost every Sunday and Monday, you can order a steak and lobster special that includes salad or soup, side dish, AND dessert for $29.95! Well worth it...
We have been to this restaurant several times and we are from California. The food is consistently very good and the service is always attentive without being overbearing. I particularly recommend the one Spanish wine on the wine list, it is excellent and reasonably priced.
The service was excellent - a pleasant surprise in Williamsburg where service is often so-so because of the large tourist trade. There were 6 of us - four of us really liked/loved our meals, one person felt their meal was just okay and said they preferred the steak frites at a chain steakhouse for half the price. I ordered chateaubriand with another person - the meat and potatoes were really 5 star, but the asparagus was stringy and overcooked. Normally an overcooked vegetable wouldn't bother me, but for Opus 9 prices they should have provided asparagus that was as well cooked as the rest of the meal.
We loved our visit to Opus 9. We were in Williamsburg for vacation. Friends had recommended this restaurant. Our waiter, James, was wonderful and very personable. We had a 3 course meal that was out of this world. Each course was delivered in such a way that we never felt rushed. Great atmosphere, great food, great service!
I was not excited that the restaurant is part of a complex as it is not that large in size. They have tried to maximize tables which does lend the environment to being tight in some spots and crowded. I requested a nice table for anniversary and received same. I suggest the same for anyone wanting to have a little space. It was right buy the kitchen but was still very good. Service was excellent. The meal (Filet Mignon) was wonderful. The desert, Banana Foster (a favorite of mine) was good but not up to the caliber of the meal. It was just okay. The wine and liquor selection excellent. Overall very good p,lace to have a fine dinning experience. Only drawback is just not big enough and too many tables in small space.
Eating at Opus 9 is always a wonderful experience. I wouldn't characterize myself as a steak person, but their petite filet is about as perfect as it gets. Combine it with the steamed vegetables and their amazing potatoes, and you have a fantastic dinner. Enjoy!
Second visit in two weeks first was for lunch second brunch. On both occasions service and food were great.
The menu has a diverse range of foods and all items are expertly produced and served.
Service is expertly and timely. All food is served at the correct temperature.
Will visit again when in the area.
This was our second time to Opus Nine and it did not disappoint. This is our favorite place to go when we are in Williamsburg. The N.Y. Strip and the bone in filet were outstanding and cooked perfectly. The French onion soup was very good but needed salt. We had the tiramisu for desert and the French press coffee. Highly recommend.
My friend and I had a nice lunch and time to visit in a lovely setting and great service.
Our waitress was attentive but never intrusive. She told us of any specials and gave us time to consider our choices before ordering.
We enjoyed our food and look forward to returning in the future.
We enjoyed dining at Opus 9. We were on vacation and were looking for a nicer restaurant. Opus 9 was recommended and we were very pleased! We have a favorite steak place and it is always hard to find steak as good as we are used to but my husband stated that the strip steak was as good or better! Delicious bread with honey butter. Antwan, our waiter, did a great job!
Great food and service (ask for Jared). On Sundays, they feature 1/2 price wine and a steak and lobster ($29.95) combination. Though the lobster tail is tiny (about 4 small bites) it is prepared perfectly and tastes delicious. This is one of the 2 best restaurants in Williamsburg (Fat Canary is the other) and may just be the best steakhouse South of Washington D.C. In Virginia.
New Orleans Shrimp is out of the world. Like lick the plate good.
The Filet Mignon is AMAZING!! I had it with mustard and horseradish.. and then Au Poivre too... weird mix, but I'm super pregnant, and the chef and waiter were sooo nice about making a crazy concoction for me!
The service was phenomenal! David is so funny and very attentive. We loved him!
Also, I LOVE when restaurants give me time between courses, and they did a great job not to rush us! It was perfect for hubby and I to enjoy the meal and each other's company.
