Opus 9 Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I chose Opus 9 because the restaurant of choice (Le Yaca) didn't have the time slot that we wanted to have dinner and this restaurant popped up on the listing and my son had eaten there and liked it. So we tried it. The pros were, the crab cake was the best I had had for a very long time, the champagne that was recommended was superb and our waiter, Luis, was wonderful. The cons are just not the ambience for a special dinner like Valentines, etc. that we find enjoyable that make it a truly dining experience and the other con was the vegetables were not impressive at all.
Lovely house salad, reasonable "$10" lunch but vey limited in choices on that menu. One tends to prefer the larger offerings if not there distinctly for luncheon. It's a lovely place, well staffed and quiet enough to be able to concentrate on one's company before, during and after the meal.
Excellent food & superior service. The dining month menu was excellent & the streak Diane was superb. Sides were well-prepared & hot. Sunday evening half-price on bottles of wine is a great value. A very nice evening & we will patronize again. Air temperature in the restaurant was comfortable & made for a most enjoyable time.
We celebrated our 50th anniversary in Williamsburg, and I researched restaurants on Open Table to find a special place to celebrate. I found the menu at Opus 9 to be perfect for us, offering interesting dinner choices. This restaurant proved to be even better than expected! We were taken to our table, a booth that I had requested on line, and a card on the table greeted us with a Happy 50th Anniversary! Our server, Anna, was very informative and accommodating and fun! She definitely added to our special evening. We started with shrimp cocktail--perfectly prepared with a subtle back flavor--a must! Much to our surprise, Chateaubriand was on that evening's special menu. It was divine, and included grilled asparagus and caramelized onion mashed potatoes, a perfect anniversary dinner. Anna suggested a wonderful Rose' wine, a comprise since I drink white wine and my husband only drinks red. A heavenly cheesecake completed our wonderful dinner. I highly recommend Opus 9 and only wish we lived closer to enjoy their food and ambience more often!
Always a good dinner at Opus 9, but this time the Osso Buco was disappointing. It was a feature on their "Restaurant Week" menu. A good price, and the portion was sufficient, but the meat was tough and stringy. The Key Lime Pie desert, which was part of the three-course meal, was very good, but he portion laughable. Maybe three bites. We will most definitely return, but will not order a Restaurant Week feature again.
My wife and I celebrated our 51st wedding anniversary here and had a great time. The food, as always, was superb. The anniversary email coupon with a two for the price of one helped the bill. Opus 9 has a knack for seasoning the food just right. Our favorite restaurant in the Williamsburg, VA area.
Service was Great - Food was NOT
Opus 9 was me and my husband's big eating finale for our mini-vacay special dinner celebrating my husband's 40th birthday.
We had looked forward to eating South African Lobster tails for the first time! They were very generous in size but absolutely bland on flavor. My husband kept insisting it must have been the butter ... butter should not make a lobster tail edible; it should compliment the meat.
My husband decided on the New York Strip - and thank goodness he added the Au Poivre else his meat would not have had any taste either.
The ceaser salad had hardly any dressing and the sides were mediocre at best. The bread will cut the inside of your mouth because the crust is so hard.
This place was very popular with varying age ranges - however, it did not live up to our expectations of what should have been an upscale steak restaurant with the upscale flavors to support the upscale price!
Service; however, was impeccable and I did notice waiters and waitresses using a small handheld flashlight for the customer to ensure the meat was cooked as ordered. I had seen a complaint in an earlier review prior to choosing Opus where the person said it was so dark in the restaurant, they were unable to determine if their steak was done properly. So it is apparent Opus does read their reviews. Hopefully they will do something to add flavor to their taste.
