Opus 9 Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Dined on Saturday evening with three friends from Maryland. We had a very delicious
meal with steaks, bernaise sauce, creamed corn, augratin potatoes, caesar salad, delicious
breads and honey butter. Then the dessert was amazing. We split some desserts. We had the hot chocolate cake with melted hot chocolate inside and ice cream on the side. Yummy, Yummy.
We had great service and even asked the Manager to turn the ac on because we were warm.
Everything was super awesome. Will return the next visit to Williamsburg.
I went with my wife at lunch and had the Oscar 9 which was a 6oz center cut filet / Atop a Marinated Portabella Mushroom & Asparagus / Classic Bearnaise / Sautéed Lump Crab Meat and it was amazing. So tender and delicious. I also had the spiked egg nog (awesome) and we shared a Bananas Foster for dessert. I would highly recommend this place but it is a bit pricy but going at lunch helps make it more affordable. James was our waiter and took care of us magnificently. Everything was wonderful and made for a very enjoyable lunch.
We are a fan of this a la carte steak house and the food at Opus 9 is very, very good. One lesson I learned with their sizzling hot plates the steaks are served on - my thinner cut of meat, a rib eye, came out as ordered rare/cool center, but cooked on the hot plate to medium in minutes. Really took away from my enjoyment of the steak. A good lesson learned for next visit!
Opus 9 has always provided wonderful food and service, and is our place to go for special occasions. Unfortunately, our table reservation for 5 was not available and two tables were pushed together in the middle of the room. Very distracting to have people passing on both sides of our table going to and from the brunch buffet.
My Wife and I visit Opus 9 a number of times during the year. However today was put first experience of their Sunday Brunch. All I can say is the food and quality is excellent.
We travel 50 minutes from Richmond to go to Opus 9 because we find them much better than anything offered locally. We've tried their sister location Hondos and it's no comparison. If u are in the Williamsburg area I suggest you give Opus 9 a try.
Our experience with Opus 9 for brunch was “over the top.” What a great experience! The food was amazing and the selections vast. It was an A-1 brunch feast with a value price. So sorry we do not live closer - thank you, Opus 9, for a memorable Sunday morning.
In your choices for recommendations (above) you don't list menu or service. Both are outstanding. Your staff is a cut above the others; nothing is too much trouble for them & their sole purpose seems to be that you have the best possible dining experience.
Also you have a large menu which surely caters to everyone's needs. It's well prepared, innovative and delicious.
I hope you are with us a long time....
Opus 9 is a place that allows for many different options for dining for brunch, lunch or dinner. The lunch menu offers many affordable items from sandwiches, tacos, soups and salads to full blown business lunch options of steak, seafood and sides. On this visit we enjoyed a lunch of shrimp tacos, seafood bisque, onion rings and creamed spinach, and everyone enjoyed it all. We especially enjoyed the wine flights. They allowed one to sample and enjoy several wines with our meal. We certainly look forward to returning to Opus 9.
Wonderful to sneak out of the office for a real lunch! Our server James S was wonderful and thought of everything. Food and wine were great, and we didnt leave hungry. We had the quiche and the meatloaf, and neither disappointed. Althought I usually get the crab cake and really love that!
Visit to Williamsburg, looking for a steakhouse. Very upscale, warm and inviting. Server John explained the menu in great detail. Cocktails were top drawer. Meat was aged done to perfection and tasted wonderful. Would recommend the side room for a romantic setting. The player piano gave the ambiance of a classical setting. Would make this a go to spot for the Area.
We and our two visiting adult grandchildren had a lovely visit and delicious dinner together. Our waiter, Cody, did well by us, and we fully enjoyed our time there. We were pleased that we did not feel rushed. My husband and I have enjoyed meals with you a number of times including the ten for ten lunches. Keep up the good work!
Service by Anna was great; too much light from ceiling lighting; Lavash Crackers were very greasy: steak was very sinewy and was too rare, (did not send back to the kitchen): excellent wine pour and dessert was very good and champagne in honor of our anniversary was a nice touch.
Unfortunately the restaurant was not prepared to handle the regular brunch crowd and the very large party celebrating a 50th birthday. They were slow to replenish the foods that were popular such as the eggs benedict and bread pudding and roast beef. These shortages occurred because the entire group in the back room got into the buffet line all at once.
That being said, the quality of the food is always consistently good, the service is also consistently good, we were not rushed, just had to wait a while for our favorites. This is still the best brunch around.
The steaks and salads were phenomenal but the lobster was flavorless and the cheesecake for dessert was not NY style. Also, the service was lacking. We asked for an appetizer that we didn’t receive. We asked for a second drink that we didn’t receive, and we asked for recommendations on the wine list that the server could not provide. The server was very pleasant and told us he would be serving us, even going as far as giving us a business card, then didn’t serve our food so the person doing that mixed up the order. That isn’t important, however, if you are going to portend to be an upscale restaurant, get those little details correct. We traveled 400 miles and selected this restaurant based upon the ratings on open table. While good, it was not worth the cost of the meal.
