Great steak and ambience
Luis is a FABULOUS server!! We requested him by name and he stayed just for us! Great service, attentive without being intrusive... a hard combination to find, but nails it!
Our second time with him and he remembered when we were here, where we sat, what we drank and how we wanted our steaks cooked! Wow!!!
We really enjoy coming here for dinner ... always a great meal and great experience
We had a bad experience on Feb 4, but we went back last Sunday March 11, and noticed a huge improvement. Food was arranged better, was of good quality, and it was served warm. Waiter was excellent. We are regular customers..and are happy that the problems seem to have been straightened out.
Food was okay. Our waitress was great - attentive. Asked for a private table and was seated in the middle of the restaurant by the front door. Was not happy about that choice.
Our server and service was Outstanding. We don't go out to upscale restaurants often and even though we were prepared for the "upscale" pricing, I don't see the value in a $64 steak or, in my case, $45 lamb chops. Granted they were outstanding and the best I've ever had, but my chosen side was a simple baked sweet potato (baked to perfection, I would add), the food itself doesn't warrant the excessive pricing. That being said, when combined with the excellent service and atmosphere, I think it's priced on the high side of fair.
We eat here regularly and it’s amazing every time!!!
The food was great. We had steak diane with a wonderful bottle of wine. The server was very nice and accommodating. Don't forget to get an after-dinner coffee like the millionaire's coffee.
Outstanding value for restaurant week. Returned twice & had delicious steak Dianne. Servers are professional & efficient. Atmosphere is soothing & pleasant. As a local, Opus is one of my favorite venues.
As alwAys a wonderful meal was had by all in our party.
Our experience here was just fantastic! Our waiter was helpful with any and all questions and you could not have asked for a better server! The food was absolutely delicious. We ended up having one of their nightly features and the steak melted in your mouth. Dessert was of course just pure decadence with our coffees. I look forward to visiting again!
We had a lovely dinner for our 38th anniversary. Our waiter, Luis, made us feel special and the food was outstanding, topped off by a complimentary mini-bottle of champagne. We will return soon and be back for special occasions.
The food was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable.
Opus 9 is one of our favorite spots. It never disappoints. Great food and service. Very comfortable dining room and formal enough to make for a special occasion. I love the "No baseball hats in the dining room" policy.
Opus 9 is one of my "go-to" restaurants whenever I'm in Williamsburg. Their Sunday Brunch is very good, as are their steaks. If you want a good steak, this is your restaurant!
We have an annual double date at Opus 9 as a special treat and this time was just as amazing as always. The food was very good, we used a coupon for a free appetizer for each of us, which was a nice treat. Each of us had a steak that was cooked to perfection and our desserts were so delicious. It was a great night and something we look forward to each year.
Seafood was good. Steak was dry, burnt in corner. John was a great waiter
Our waiter Jason was awesome. There when we needed him and out of sight when we didn’t. Appetizers were great, crab cakes, and lamb lollipops. My dad always said when you’re in a steakhouse eat a steak. Seafood restaurant eat seafood. I opted for the trio of seafood and did so b/c there were crab cakes, shrimp and scallops, my favorite things but on a scale 1-10, I would give it a 7.5. It was good but not great. Esp the shrimp. My husband had a double appetizer of fried oysters and they were very good. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and we’d go back but this time order a steak.
Another nice touch was at the end of our meal we were treated to a glass of champagne since we were celebrating our anniversary.
Filet mignon was tender but highly salted. Baked potatoe was cool not hot!
Great food and cocktails
Would definitely recommend this place!
Our waiter Ryan was outstanding,he was patient in explaining the menu to us; he clearly cares about the experience of Opus’s diners. Our experience was simply amazing! The food was very good. Wonderful overall experience.
My favorite restaurant for lunch in the Williamsburg area!
Always a fabulous dining experience. Fabulous food and excellent service.
Great. Luis, our server was particularly outstanding.
Our waiter was not friendly until he brought the check. He also spill water on my spouse, and did not acknowledged or apologized.
James was our server. He was very attentive and made the evening delightful. The menu items we selected were very good😃.
Excellent food as always. Attentive service without being obtrusive. Server Anna was knowledgeable and efficient.
The service was good, but the steaks were not worth the cost. It appears they cook the steaks on the very hot plates of butter as my medium well filet had no grill marks and my wife’s rare filet came out wrong twice with no grill marks. I couldn’t see spending on average of $80 a person for steaks and drinks to return when I can spend the same or less and have a much better tasting meal at Buckheads or Bookbinder or even chains like Morton’s.
Always enjoy Opus 9. Food is excellent and good service. Lunch special is one of the best in town.
It was My 32nd anniversary. Amazing since we arrived to the restaurant. Excellent service & Menu. Food & wine selection superb. Will visit here again
Opus 9 is a great place for Sunday Brunch. Even though we experienced a few issues they were rectified by the Mananger!
Opus 9 is my new favorite restaurant. My wife and I have been there 5 times, and every time we visited the food and atmosphere was wonderful. The staff are professional and friendly
There was four of us for lunch for a special occasion. We live in Williamsburg and have been to Opus 9 previously. We each ordered a side salad and one of the luncheon specials. One of my friends ordered a potato waffle with fried Southern chicken covered in a white sauce and vegetable of choice. We waited an inordinate amount of time (restaurant was not even 1/2 full) for our food. When it arrived, my friend's potato waffle was so hard she couldn't cut it with a knife as well as her overly "crisp" fried chicken. I brought this to the attention of our waiter and he brought her a small container of sauce to put on it to soften it up. I asked him to relay to the Chef our displeasure. No response from either the Chef or Management. Charged us for the unpalatable meal with no much as an apology. My friends and I will not be back to Opus 9 as well as other of our other friends and acquaintances. Would recommend any one reading this review, don't waste your money on what is supposed to be an "upscale" dining experience, but fails on many levels.
The lunch menu, with specials, is one of the best buys for the money in town. Ditto, the wines-by-the-glass forprice and quality.
Delicious lunch with fresh selections and reasonable prices. Service was exceptional.
Best filet mignon in southeastern VA and have never been disappointed whether it's a celebration or a brunch.
Great restaurant week/month lunch choice!
I always have a great time at OPUS 9. It is a great stake house. However, if you do not want a steak, the rest of the menu is fantastic. The service is always first class
We went for Valentine's Day. Our meals were fantastic and would definitely recommend Opus for dinner.
We frequently go for Happy Hour, too, which we find fabulous.
My husband and I chose Opus 9 because the restaurant of choice (Le Yaca) didn't have the time slot that we wanted to have dinner and this restaurant popped up on the listing and my son had eaten there and liked it. So we tried it. The pros were, the crab cake was the best I had had for a very long time, the champagne that was recommended was superb and our waiter, Luis, was wonderful. The cons are just not the ambience for a special dinner like Valentines, etc. that we find enjoyable that make it a truly dining experience and the other con was the vegetables were not impressive at all.
Good overall. Get your salad dressing on the side or risk sogginess. Mahi slightly overcooked, but good lunch for sure.
