Ophelia’s is just a top notch place. I have eaten brunch, lunch and dinner there. The setting, service, acoustics and food are all excellent. Still my favorite restaurant in Kansas City after many years. ❤️
Server forgot request several times. Our table was quite slanted, couldn't put much weight without feeling like it was going to tip over. Usually very good service and atmosphere. A little loud this time. Amazing food!
Enjoyed our dining experience! Nice variety and creative!
My girlfriend and I were the only customers in the restaurant for dinner. The hostess/waitress did not know how to use the iPad at the host station so we waited as she tried to assign us to a table on the tablet. She informed us she did not know how to use "this damn thing". The free bread and flavored butters were good and came quickly. Our chorizo dip appetizer was large enough for 3-4 people and enjoyable. We then had a very lengthy wait for our main courses to arrive. Once we did get our food, my girlfriend's steak was undercooked. My steak was overcooked, tough and fatty.
The staff were all loudly talking in a group at the bar right behind us the entire time we were in the restaurant. We heard a profuse amount of cussing and complaining about not being able to go have a smoke. They were too engrossed in their conversation to even notice us leaving and say goodbye or thank you.
I really wanted to enjoy this place. We visit the Independence Square area regularly to go to the Rheinland, Cafe Verona, Square Pizza, etc. We will sadly not be making Ophelia's part of that rotation.
Amazing as usual! The staff makes this place my favorite....always top notch and the food is always amazing!
So yummy! Our entire meal was amazing. Service was excellent. A true gem!
Our food and service were excellent. Our only complaint was that the live music was very disappointing. The piano player, unfortunately, could not keep time. Drove the musicians at our table crazy. Other than that, it was a lovely experience. Food was great and our server was outstanding. Thanks
The food was excellent. Our particular server must have been having a bad night. She wasn't very talkative or attentive, but we did see several other servers who seemed to be enjoying their work. It was also very warm inside. We happened to be right next to the thermostat and it was set at 76!! But I will definitely give it another try. They could've just been having an off night.
Our server was excellent!! Food was great!! Love the place!!
My wife and I live this quaint and comfortable restaurant. Great food, drinks, live entertainment. You can enjoy, have a conversation and still hear the music.
Ophelia's is always a hit! Their service and food is top notch and they handle large parties very well.
We’ve been to Ophelia’s many many times for dinner, but decided to go for brunch today and it was FANTASTIC! We both opted for the buffet (surprising since we usually steer clear of all buffets) and everything on it looked so good. The variety was impressive - ranging from 5 or so salads, breads, smoked salmon, bruschetta, bacon, eggs, biscuits & gravy, french toast, chicken Marsala, Brussels sprouts (literally the best either of us have ever had!), prime rib, lobster macaroni and cheese, custom ordered omelets, and then a dessert spread with probably 15-20 options. We didn’t have a single thing we weren’t impressed with and our server Nichole did a great job on keeping the table cleared, & water & breakfast cocktails full. The bottomless mimosas were great and I appreciate the fact they allow you to switch them up with each refill (cranberry, grape, orange, pineapple fusion, etc). While the music wasn’t live this morning, the piano was still playing music and lovely to listen to while we ate. Despite the crowd, I never saw anything ever get empty on the buffet. We’ve been checking out many brunch options in KC for the last several years and hands down this one just became our favorite! Definitely worth checking out!
What a wonderful Brunch, lots of salads and other goodies. Especially liked the shrimp and grits also the omelette bar. A good value...
Ophelias is wonderful. The food isvery good. Ot is a fine dining experience.
Wonderful evening with delicious meal. This is a favorite restaurant for us.
I believe this is the best brunch in the greater Kansas City area. All foods are fresh and includes homemade breads.
Our waitress filled our water glasses once. We didn’t see her again and waited 20 minutes for her to bring our bill.
My first time here. Will definitely return. Great food, presentation, & service.
In a KC Metro known for steak, Ophelia’s stands above them all! Excellent filet mignon!
We always enjoy dining at Ophelia's. I had the special pistachio encrusted salmon on the Lent menu. Excellent. Waitress Katie was fun.
The food is excellent along with service and atmosphere. We have never had a bad meal eiteh for lunch or dinner.
We had the steak and lobster Valentine’s Day special. It was just okay, but I have eaten there on other occasions and it has been phenomenal. I would still recommend the restaurant to others.
Forgot how good this is. Hard time making a selection due to the various options. Short braised beef risotto was the best I've had. Service was responsive for a busy night (Valentine's Day) and the background music was a nice touch. We'll be back.
It was a date night with my wife and our two daughters (5 and 8) for Valentine’s Day. It was my daughters first “fancy” dinner and the entire staff went out of their way to make it a special day for all of us.
One of our favorite spots, come hungry the food is amazing!!!
We have been here dozens of times over the past few years; the kitchen was off this visit. The Chateaubriand was quite good. The seasonal risotto was runny and flavorless. The veggies were over cooked and mushy. The salads were lovely. The server forgot our appetizer. We chose not to bring this to his attention as he was in training and did a terrific job, other than that. The manager was friendly and quite pleasant when delivering our bottle of wine. We chose not to stay for dessert.
Searching for a great sunday brunch spot....well......maybe not exactly! Food was "good" though the breakfast hash brown were not brown, just gummy! Great selection of foods though, nice sweets collection. I think the wait staff were short handed due to the icey weather though. While VERY polite and informative they were stetched pretty thin.
We've been coming to Ophelia's for a decade and will keep checking in.
Early Valentines Dinner
I eat here with friends frequently and love the food and service. Thus time it was lunch but dinners are extra special with the quiet atmosphere and sometimes live music. One of the best restaurants for every occasion or everyday. They have a private room too. Highly recommend.
Excellent food, service, and hospitality, very clean and not very loud.
Met my girlfriend for our bi-monthly "catch-up". We come to Ophelia's frequently as it is nicely located between my house on the south of the metro and her north metro location. The food is always excellent - we've had about everyting on the menu. Looking forward to their new menu coming out this spring. Check it out!
Loved it . Great service and a wonderful atmosphere. And the food was terrific too.
Would have been nice to know that they don’t participate in Restaurant Week (as if they McClains can’t afford it) on Sunday for brunch! We went ahead a tried it anyway and if you don’t get there by noon don’t expect the Prime Rib or several other things to still be offered and they don’t replenish! For what was available at 1pm on the buffet I could have stayed closer to home and give to Golden Corral or Cracker Barrel and spent less money. Nice place though and the service was great just several other disappointing elements (cleanliness was an issue as well...the long hallway to the bathroom was filthy!) I will make a donation to KC Community Gardens directly since we were not able to today.
The bathroom was a complete disaster at least for the women's restroom but otherwise a great experience.
Loved the live piano player. They have cocktail flights which were delicious and come in tiny martini glasses. Food was good, the sauce on the Mahi was amazing!
Not impressed. My order said roasted grape tomatoes and green beans. I got one small grape tpmato and count them, 4 green beans. The gelato was literally 1 tablespoon. The chicken and apple pie was too dried out to eat
Thank goodness the mixed salad was good. So disappointed.
We were pleasantly surprised at the beauty of the restaurant and the quality of the food and service. Very helpful professional. We tried it for restaurant week and we will definitely go back. I had the best Brussel sprouts appetizer I have every had. I had the chicken mufaletta sandwich and it was wonderful. I guess since it was in the older downtown area of Independence I thought it would not be as nice as it was. That will teach me to judge!
The pork belly appetizer was the best thing I had all of restaurant week. Amazing!
Went to Ophelia’s for the first time during restaurant week. I was thoroughly impressed. It was a great experience.
Great dining experience . Food presentation is beautiful.
