Ophelia's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We celebrated our 26th Anniversary at Ophelia's. My husband had the Ribeye special and I had the Chateaubriand. We had a fabulous dinner cooked to perfection. Dessert was a plate of everything Chocolate. I was in heaven. Service was great. Can't wait to go back.
We started our Tuesday evening with Mushroom Rangoon Rolls--perfectly flaky phyllo dough and wonderful filling. Then the Ophelia's salad--fresh greens with delectable smoked plum dressing and caramelized onions. But the best was yet to come: Chef's Special of Steak Tips, Mushroom Risotto and Horseradish Mousse. Oh my! This was possibly the best restaurant dinner I've ever had in my life!!! The steak was cooked to perfection--medium rare, juicy and so, so tender. The risotto was creamy soft with the subtle earthiness of the mushrooms. And the horseradish mousse was just the right amount of spiciness. The blend of all 3 was just divine. Our server, Caitlin, kept our water and tea glasses full and she was prompt when we asked for more bread.
We have always loved Ophelia's.............and this dinner made me want to eat there every night.
The Brunch was amazing. Very affordable. That said even though the price was low there was an amazing variety of food. There were a lot of breakfast items but a nice variety of lunch items as well. Felt very balanced and everything we tried was delicious. We were too full to try it all though. Wonderful staff- family friendly- but also great for a brunch date. We will for sure be going back!
We came here for Sunday Brunch before heading to the Truman Library.
There were so many choices in every category from eggs to salads to meats
Everything was delicious.
Again many choices for desserts, all good but the German chocolate cake was extraordinary!!
First visit ... attended after local Wine Festival on Saturday afternoon. Party of 4 from Lees Summit had not been there before but had "heard good things" which can end up being a disaster... i.e high expectations. Very pleased that the food was awesome... wife and I both had Mahi... it was some of the best we have had anywhere in the country let alone Midwest... friends got steaks and they said they where great.
Appetizer was a chorizo and cheese dip... really good as well. Good selections of beer and wines.
Waitress was really good humored... and attentive.. this is the perfect low key , great food and drink location.
We will be back!
We made a reservation for four for Sunday Brunch. We arrived at 10:30 a.m., the earliest seating available, and were immediately taken to our table. The brunch is fabulous, and includes a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options, including waffles and omelets made to order. For those who want mostly lunch items, there is a lot to choose from, including salads and sandwiches, and everything was fresh, well-stocked and delicious. And be sure to save room for dessert, too!
Something super special for Independence and a special place for Greater Kansas City. Very nice, unweird menu with all items elevated substantially. Excellent service with knowledgeable staff serving comfortable, highest quality, modern riffs on recognizable dishes. This chef is special.
We celebrated a birthday recently. It was a great experience with a wonderful table by the window and a waitress who could not have been more attentive. We had a great conversation as the noise level was low. You have a great spot and we were honored to patronize a local business.
Wow. Where do I begin...? I read the reviews in particular about Sunday brunch because that's what I wanted to try. They were flowing with superlatives.
Excited for a great Sunday brunch, I made reservations. 5 minutes early a pleasant & friendly hostess seated us immediately. Good start! She advised that we could go to the buffet right off our wait to order drinks. An inordinate amount of time passed before the waitress came & I ordered coffee while family was in bathroom.
A food summary is best: Most salads appeared wilted & unappetizing, sadly. The prime rib lacked in flavor unless you ate a chunk of fat with it & was DRY! The biscuits were wonderful & the gravy was really good but tepid. Almost everything stuck to the serving spoons so firmly that the plate would've broke had a tapped on it hard enough to get the food off. (Clean them off from time to time?) The grits were like masa but the shrimp was perfectly cooked & flavorful. The garlic mashed potatoes were almost as good mine. Nice job on the scrambled eggs but the bacon was undercooked. The chicken breast was flavorful but again on the dry side. Hash brown casserole was yummy & sticky. The fried deviled egg should be taken off the menu. It was odd tasting at best & left me wanting a traditional one. Mac & cheese was a winner!
Dessert: Carrot cake was the highlight of the entire meal! Blueberry bread pudding was flavorful & almost as good as mine but dry. It needs a creme anglaise. Berries & yogurt was delicious. Chocolate brownie was more of a blonde brownie & disappointing flavor. Cheesecake was a real let down with the lemon flavor in it; should've been described that way. Roasterie coffee was a treat and on point! But having to ask for a refill TWICE was unacceptable.
All in all the food was good but far from great. Disillusioned by the visit on all fronts including not having toothpicks on the way out! It's great to go to a buffet for the variety but if the quality is lacking you feel cheated.
We will definitely be back. We also stayed in a room here and it was a fantastic experience. The food and service were exceptional. The owner really makes the service great! He was very friendly and professional. We felt right at home! The food is definitely worth the price and the stay was definitely worth the money! A very good experience! Thank you!
We have been to Ophelias several times and always enjoy it. We had a party of 6 this time. They did not have the table ready at our reservation time but got it ready very quickly. We were not rushed to order or to complete our dining experience. The food was delicious but a couple of our group might have ordered differently if we had known the specials for the evening. About midway through our meal, the pianist began playing. She was right beside us and, while not overly loud, it was loud enough to alter our dinner conversation, because we were right beside it. Our biggest thank you is that we were not rushed at all. We took our time dining and visiting. Very nice dining experience.
