The menu is an infusion of cultural flavors. The steaks & seafood, are a few of our guest's favorite items. Layers of flavors contribute to the dishes we serve. The atmosphere is romantic and brunch is served on Sunday. Come and let us treat you to new and familiar flavors. A 'gem of the beaten path' not to be overlooked!
Fried Brussel Sprouts
Granny Smith apples, shaved prosciutto & pistachios. Sweet apple Cider gastrique & house made hot sauce
Scallion & red chili grits, garlic scented spinach, jumbo Gulf shrimp, sweet chili butter & fresh grated smoked Gouda Cheese
Ophelia’s is our new favorite restaurant! The food was great and the service was amazing! Our server was Nicole and she made our night out perfect with her friendly and knowledgeable service. Thanks Nicole!
We sat outside on the patio it was a quiet early Friday night reservation
The service was horrible we wanted 15 minutes before we saw a server to order even a drink. Luckily we had so much time to look at the menu we knew what to order because the server was just not around. The entrée came out before we we had finished the apps. The mac and cheese was made with Penna pasta and the pasta overpowered the cheese. When I mentioned it to the server she said I wasn't the first to complain.
We gave the server the card before she brought the check and waited another 15 minutes for her, finally i went inside to track her down.
The wedge was good as was the chickens dip app. We could have worked with the food but the service was so, so bad.
It was a delightful experience. My friends had not visited before and were very impressed. Our server Matt was excellent. His recommendations were right on. The food was perfectly delicious. And my guests thought the restaurant was beautiful. It was a lovely lunch.
Noted on reservation this was a birthday. It was not acknowledged by greeter or server. Smash burger was greasy.
Delicious and great meal, attentive service, wonderful experience !
Great experience, small to limited menu. Good service
We have been to Ophelia's many times but were very disappointed this time. Our waitress didn't offer an appetizer, dessert or coffee. We had the fried chicken which was mostly breading/batter and the inside of it was nothing but raw batter.
Great food and service! The perfect backdrop for a long overdue conversation with a friend.
Always a pleasure to eat at Ophelia's. On yesterday's visit, one member of our 4-person group had dietary/health restrictions that ruled out the special of the day. The waitress offered to have a modified version prepared, and it was greatly appreciated.
We have eaten at Ophelia's many times. However, this time things were different. No bread was served with the meal; however, it could be purchased per waitress. The steak flambre was listed as a filet, however, the cut didn't reflect a filet.
The salmon was great, as well as the brussel sprouts.
The fried brussel sprout smart plate was excellent. My friend and I could hardly contain ourselves. We ate so much of that, we had to change our soup from a bowl to the smaller cup. The Italian wedding soup, too, was absolutely delish.
As wonderful as always, even with the change in Executive Chef, its the same, favorite restaurant in Greater Kansas City. Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience each and every time.
Our experience was just "okay". The food and service were good, BUT, they ran out of bread (on a busy Saturday night), the beer was warm and they ran out dessert. Our waitress did her best but the problems made our experience just okay. Honestly, I don't see us returning any time soon.
Excellent restaurant, they are struggling to find good help. Looking forward to the return of their Brunch.
Dessert was a total rip off and not very good. Main course was very good. Very good server.
This is one of our favorite restaurant. The food is excellent and service is always outstanding.
Ophelia’s has been a favorite for years. Always good service and wonderful food, however it is not what it once was. Very limited menu. Specials were nothing special. The Food was not the same quality and seems like a different chef? Really disappointed!!
This is a favorite place to go for excellent food and service. The fried chicken is fantastic. The grilled salmon with risotto and grilled Brussels sprouts was so delicious! Would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Great time sitting outside. The staff is awesome. They are so welcoming and kind. The food is delicious. Great place to meet friends or dine alone.
Waitress was excellent including service.......food was excellent........we changed our seating from outside to inside with no problem.......greeted friendly upon entering.....stayed for 2 1/2 hours and weren’t hurried......all in all a delightful experience!
We were just spending a night in Independence as we traveled west to Colorado. I had checked out Yelp and Googled restaurants in the area of our hotel before we got there and really liked the options on their menu. We had a fantastic meal - my husband has the fried chicken which was 2 large pieces and were moist and crisp with just enough spice. It came with whipped potatoes and green beans - all good. I had the house salad and the Shrimp and bacon grits appetizer. Perfect sizes on both and the flavors were amazing. Our server was Elaine and she was personable and efficient. It wasn’t too crowded on a Wed night so the noise was very low.
I sent my Mom & Dad there for Father’s Day. I paid for my Dad.
Another patron paid for my Mom’s.
So they were doubly blessed!
Food was excellent both had the salmon. Thank you!
Great food and service
Delicious dinner and dessert! Salmon and tenderloin were cooked perfectly and the sauces were original and delicious. Prices were great for the quality. Will definitely return.
We were excited to eat here after hearing about the amazing food. But the food was not very good.
Fantastic food. Beautiful and quaint restaurant. Love the Independence square too. Food is fresh with chef specials also offered. Prices are very affordable for the quality. I need to come here more.
Excellent food in the charming downtown Independence. Service was very attentive and caring. They took off my ice tea after a confusion over the charges.
Had a wonderful business lunch at Ophelia's yesterday on their sidewalk patio seating. My guest and I both enjoyed the Mahi Mahi lunch special which he had seen in a morning social media post from the owner......delicious fish, nice side salad with a small serving of hummas and pita. Service was great and not intrusive. Highly recommend Ophelia's....a little gem.
Had an absolutely wonderful dinner last night at Ophelia's. The food was delicious and our waitress Elain Margaret was a joy. Thank you so much for making our first, Pandemic, coming-out dinner so enjoyable. We will be back.
Even with an Executive Chef change my meal was as enjoyable as ever. The service was impeccable and personal. We even had a table visit from the owner, which is always a treat and on a day for a memorial, that visit made my senior friend feel important and seen. Thank you.
Excellent service, food, atmosphere for special occasions.
I simply love Ophelias. The food is great, the atmosphere is wonderful and the service is incredible.
Never a bad meal. The menu is always new and we love coming in to see what fun and delicious dishes the chef has come up with tbis time!
The new chef greeted us after our meal, inquiring about the food. I wish I had remembered to tell him how delicious the risotto was in combination with the Norwegian Salmon and crispy sweet Brussel sprouts. It was the perfect light creamy texture, not at all sticky and gooey as is often the case. The service is always kind, efficient and attentive without being overbearing. We love the varied menu and always have a good experience at Ophelias.
Great ambience.. Delicious food. Great service. Winning combination. Look forward to going back
Love new Chef!!
The ambiance of this restaurant is the best. They have some innovative food, and the luncheon prices are quite reasonable.
First time there. Creative menu with good variety. Loved the fried chicken. Walked around the square before dinner on a perfect evening. Will be back
Our daughter and son in law came in from Omaha for the weekend, and this was the first time we had taken them out to eat since the Covid problem. We were happy that Ophelia's was now open for dining in on a Saturday evening. We had delicious food, and a Terrific Server in Elaine C. The Salmon and Truman chicken were both exceptional . It was a pleasant atmosphere and our son in law was especially interested in the pictures on the walls, and history of the location. It was a most pleasant evening as everything about Ophelia's for fine dining was perfect.
What really sets the tone for any restaurant is the feel you get when you walk in the front doors. The first thing I noticed as we approached the hostess area was the table in front of the window that had not been cleared and was full of dishes. We had a reservation and I asked to be seated by the window. She looked that way and saw the mess on that table and seated us on the other side of the restaurant next to the side windows. We were greeted promptly by our server and both ordered the hamburger with blue cheese on the pretzel bread. I had the side salad and my husband ordered the French onion soup. It was all very good and service was great! Maybe they were short handed on a Friday night or just slow to clean up.
