Ophelia's on the Bay Ratings and Reviews
We were celebrating a birthday, but nobody acknowledged it. I expected to feel a little special, but didn't. I ordered the veal chop and it was very fatty and disappointing. My husband ordered the lazy lobster which was quite good. We've been going to Ophelia's for almost 20 years and this was the most disappointing visit yet.
Was our first visit though I have lived in Sarasota for many years! We fully enjoyed our dining experience. Our server Cassy was friendly and most helpful and very attentive to our every need. We did it all from appetizers to salads, entrees and desserts and coffees.
Was the perfect evening.
We ate inside as it was sprinkling when we arrived but walked out the the decks after dinner. This is truly a gem of Sarasota on Siesta Key. Highly recommend!
Absolutely fantastic in every respect. Appetizer of escargot was spot on. Dinner of perfectly seared u10 scallops was truly amazing as well as the tuna. I’ve eaten a lot of tuna in my life and this was the best quality yellowfin ever. Not one piece of membrane. The yellowfin rivaled bluefin tuna. Dessert was pumpkin cream brûlée that was perfect... service thru out dinner was amazing. Most perfect dining experience I’ve had in quite awhile!!
Annette provided outstanding service and was very considerate in answering our questions about not only the menu items but about Sarasota in general. We also appreciated having a window table for my birthday celebration. Kudos to the chef for the Tataki tuna entree! We have enjoyed it during prior visits too and have found it, in its variations, a delicious dish.
Food delicious, as always! Wine list seemed to be more expensive than we remembered. May suggest including wine on the list that is not so high end or as expensive as the wines are priced. We come here 2 times a year when in town on our last night for special meal.
I know one is not guaranteed a seating preference, but we did ask when we arrived if we could eat outside. We were told no as a wedding party was to be out there. Yet during the entire time we were there, a table for four sat empty just on the other side of the window from our table. Very disappointing. We had friends from England with us and we had talked up the ambience of Ophelia's. Another note: I thought it was proper to NOT remove the dinner plates from a table when all were not finished. Three of us had our plates removed which left the fourth person at our table dining alone. It was quite awkward.
We have been to Ophelia's numerous times and are never disappointed. This was no exception. Weather was spectacular with a full moon Rising. Temperature was perfect. The Snapper and the grouper was superb. The prices r pretty healthy and I would therefore strongly suggest that Ophelia's could make available either still water or sparkling water included in the dinner price. I just purchased several gallons of seltzer water from Publix for approximately $1 per gallon on a special price but even on regular price is approximately $2 per gallon. Certainly this could be included when a typical meal with a shared salad and entree will still cost over $100 with one glass of wine/ Diner. I also think that happy hour could be extended bye 30 minutes to an hour and end at 6:30 or 7 p.m. rather than 6 p.m. That said, the dining experience is wonderful . We will return but with just a couple of extras as suggested above, we would go there more often.
My husband took me there for my Birthday, the whole evening was perfect from the beautiful atmosphere to the amazing food and dessert! The staff was so friendly and so accommodating. Our waiter went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was perfect! Have already recommended to people we met while vacationing... Top notch restaurant...will most definitely revisit on our next trip to Siesta Key!
Absolutely loved this restaurant. It was suggested to us by a gallery owner in Sarasota and he couldn't have been more right. The restaurant is beautiful right in the water. The device was top notch and the food was outstanding. I had the seared tuna and it was amazing. Everyone at our table loved their meals. We will be back in May to celebrate my daughter's graduation and look forward to bringing the whole family
We both ordered fish, grouper was excellent, my husbands Mahi was just a tad over done, but tasty. I had the lobster bisque for an apppetizer. It was excellent but way too much and when I got my dinner I couldn't eat much. They could lower the price and serve a smaller volume.
We were served very well by our server Marla. It was my husband's birthday and he was given a glass of champagne with a strawberry in it.
Gorgeous location on the water!
Just okay, had higher expectations all around. Parking is valet only, which I don’t use so had to find parking at a beach entrance and walk. Food was just average, plating and side pairings were not very refined, and inside seating next to bar area not ideal. However, server was pleasant and provided good service. This was our first and last visit.
Service was great food suggestions were on point. Had take off on oysters Rockefeller for appetizer - excellent and Diver Scallops glazed with a spicy lobster sauce which were excellent. Dinner was topped off with a great Baily's tiramisu. The house also provided a complementary champagne toast with desert for my birthday. All went well!
Four of us dined, unfortunately my entre was dropped leaving the kitchen so was offered soup while a replacement meal was made.
I ate after my dining companions so the whole experience was a little disjointed.
Accidents happen but feel a discount of some amount should have been offered.
I like Ophelia’s & will dine there again.
We were seated with a lovely view of the the bay. Service was phenomenal the entire time. I don't think that either of our water glasses got below half full. The crusty bread was warm and flavored with fresh roasted garlic. We started with the calamari, which was really delicious. It was an interesting take with the avocado drizzle and pico de gallo. I had the scallops. They were seared to perfection, the aioli and the bacon bourbon jam were the absolute perfect compliment. The spicy lobster was rich and flavorful. My husband had the mahi mahi. It was flavorful and moist. Very light with a tasty crust. The pineapple chutney was unique and delicious. We finished our anniversary meal with the creme brûlée, made by their pastry chef. It was creamy and just the right amount of sweet, with vanilla and orange notes. An amazing meal!
