Ophelia's Electric Soapbox
Music schedule and ticket purchases can be found at opheliasdenver.com
Ophelia’s has taken many forms: located in the historic 1894-era Victorian Airedale building, it was a brothel, turned peep show, turned adult video library.
We serve as a restaurant, bar, and live music venue, with a boudoir-style
décor that honors the building’s past; and Ophelia, the muse. Continuing the Edible Beats tradition of delicious, responsibly-sourced food, the upscale, gastrobrothel-inspired menu will include fresh, craveable takes on flatbread
pizza, small plates, burgers, and shareable charcuterie boards.
What Insiders Are Saying
For a brunch with live music, go to Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox in the Highlands.
Cool, quirky atmosphere. Small plates are interesting--hit or miss. The plantains and flatbread were delicious. The peppers and brussels sprouts were just ok. Server was very polite and attentive. The sound on open mic night was off. Very difficult to hear performers sing/speak and the instruments were too loud. Definitely worth checking out again.
The food was very overpriced. I got the lamb gyro, it was really dry and over cooked on a dried out pita. The crowd was mainly couples, no singles. Open mic night was awful, they all should have stayed home. Overall, a BIG disappointment, I will never go back.
We love this place and try to get there at least once a month to enjoy their brunch and live music!
Except for the plantains, the food was just ok. My bigger problem, and what ruined the entire experience for me, was our seating arrangement. We had a reservation but we didn’t even get our own table. We were seated side by side overlooking the stage area at a long table with another couple. If the person next to me was left-handed we would have whacked elbows all night. I don’t like tables too close together but I can tolerate it. Sitting right next to a stranger sharing a table? No thanks. If I had known I would have been seated like that, I would have cancelled my reservation.
The only problem was the band didn't come on until 10pm (actually later) and we were told 9pm, which by that time we were ready to leave. Disappointed that we missed it.
The atmosphere at Ophelia's is truly innovative and fun. We loved the movie playing on the giant screen during our meal! We found the menu to be a bit skimpy -- only 3 regular entres? However, what we did eat was very good. We started with the shishito peppers & cheese curds -- a yummy battered & deep fried starter...and a huge treat for someone who can't have gluten. Hubby had the chicken & sweet potato waffles, while I had the pork belly & brussels small plates. We ended our meal with the chocolate mousse -- good, but on the small side-- and the creamy, delicious salted caramels, a dessert mainstay that also appears on their sister restaurants' menus. This is not an inexpensive meal, but fun for a special night out.
Would be great if you added a few more vegan options!
I had a great time! Cool venue, cool crowd and good vibes. I’ll be back.
Incredible service from everyone that we interacted with. The menu for Valentine’s day was set up as a 4 course meal where you choose from a few different option in each course. They even offered vegan options if you’re into that. They had Wes Watkins playing which batted out of the park to be honest. Overall, excellent food, super fresh and great flavor balancing, service was on point, and the atmosphere was warm. Excellent job!
Our favorite date night spot. Awesome atmosphere, great drinks, great entertainment, great food and great service.
Absolutely amazing food and great atmosphere
We went for my birthday and it just happens to be the night of a burlesque show. We had a great time, the crowd was engaged and having a good time. For the most part the food was good, although, I got the steak, which was well cooked but very small with a huge amount of sauce that had a bit of an off putting taste to it. I would say the portion size was pretty small for the appetizers as well, which seemed odd considering the waiter told us they were good to share with the group. However, I would still recommend this place and will be coming back again.
Pizza was outstanding, cornbread a little dry, beer and wine selection was good. There was a burlesque show at 7:30PM that we weren't aware of when we looked at the menu online. It was very interesting but not a place for children or teenagers during the show. Happening place, glad we visited. Kind of loud so a little difficult to talk, but a funky place and food was good
The perfect brunch spot i would say ! Even though the decir gives it a very dark and brooding feel. But that was one if the best things about the place. The amazing artwork makes it truly ecletic.
We went on a sunday and reached about half an hour early, but were promptly seated. The table was great. We could enjoy the music as well as the art work. The bottomless mimosas are a treat and so is the food ! Try the plantains for sure:)
Happy brunching !
Great service awesome staff the bison burger is to die for I love this place
Great food and atmosphere. Only complaint is that they scheduled another reservation after ours so we had to end our brunch prematurely early.
Our server’s name was Jenny and she Took Care of Us!!!
The food was awesome. I had the red snapper curry, Yum.
Music was fun and dancing helped burn off that scrumptious dessert💕
I definitely prefer dinner over the brunch menu. Ambiance is sexy and fun. Service was very good.
Ophelia's never disappoints. The atmosphere is always fun. Sunday brunch typically features live music and the restaurant itself is dark and cozy. The food is stellar. And who doesn't love bottomless mimosas? Above all, the service is top notch. Shoutout to Chris, Damo, and Tim for giving my friend and I a super special brunch experience.
The staff was great and accommodated our party that grew above the number I reserved a table for. Megan sat us and was very welcoming. Julia the bartender made our birthday girl feel like it was her special day. Great vegetarian food options at brunch
If you fancy a venue out-of-the-ordinary, this is the place for you. Fab food and great staff... can't ask for better.
We love going to Ophelia’s for brunch! We have never been disappointed. This time the service wasn’t great. Our server was eating behind the bar while we waited to order.
The I waited 20 minutes for a tea. It just wasn’t our best experience.
The food portions were super small and just not very good. Very expensive for no more than you get.
Really a fan of this place. Ambiance, food, and drinks are always on point. Unique spot. Live music is a definite plus! Can get a little loud at points because of the live entertainment, so may not be the best spot for quiet dining. Be sure to check the schedule if you're looking to avoid the beautiful noise. But then, I feel like the noise (Live music) is one of the perks of this place!
Had reservations at 7:00 Saturday night 4 people, ended up having 5 people show up, so the hostess arranged for us to sit at two corner tables in the bar as this place was getting packed fast. The vibe in the whole place is excellent and love the old time movies. Food was great, super fresh homemade humus with jicama and other veggies was fabulous, two of us had Gyros which had tons of meat that was a little dry but full of flavor, chicken and waffles for two others was more than either one could eat, and my wife loved the kale and brussels sprouts cobb salad which will easily justify a trip back here soon. The only down side was our first server must have clocked out early so we paid up, but the second server assigned to our table simply forgot about us, so we left before the live band started.
The restaurant was fabulous! The drinks and the food were so creative and delicious. I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes to have fun, listen to great music and have delicious food. The deserts are to die for....
Birthday celebration. Atmosphere fun. Food pricey.
Great place for a fun date, creative cocktails, and good food.
Super fun spot to eat, drink, and enjoy some wonderful music! We will be back!!!
It was very intimate. I had never been but my date had. We had a amazing time the menu had good choices seeing as I'm a Vegitarian and she's a meat eater we both had a wide variety of things to choose from. We had a small booth in the balcony that was perfect for viewing the live bluegrass performed on the stage below us. The server was prompt, polite, knew his menu and was ready with suggestions. He answered all of our questions. The ambiance and decor was comfortable and classy. A great place for date night.
Food and service were great, but the music was way too loud and made it hard to have a conversation -- the featured singer was a little too enamored with his BeatBuddy.
Great Bowie brunch. Table was not ready for reservation time but bar and wait staff went over and above to make sure we were having a great time despite the wait. Great group of very plesant people from hosti to bar to servers. Well done!!
I don't care how cool of an establishment you are, no one deserves to be treated this way!
I will not return here after the treatment we received when we took to long to finish our meal and were basically kicked out. I specifically called the day of to confirm if tickets were to be purchase and was told we were ok since our table did not have a direct view of the stage. Shame on this place for the way you treat your customers!
I enjoyed the unique food and the cocktails that they serve.
We didn’t like the strange seating along the inside. It was cramped and way too close to our neighbors. Very strange. Drinks were insanely expensive. Food was so so. Disappointed overall.
We went to Ophelia's for a (hungover) Saturday Brunch - Right away we knew we were in for an energized afternoon. We sat front stage and were serenaded with some catchy covers from the two man band playing live. For some, it was a lot for the head to handle, but we quickly settled in with some cocktails and delicious comfort food starters. The dimmed lighting was a great scene setter, the servers were swift and accommodating of our disheveled gang. The food was excellent - I had the skirt steak brunch entree which is well worth its $19 price tag. To round out the meal, we were treated to a sound check by the legendary rap duo "The Pharcyde" as they prepped for the evening's show. A fitting way to start a boozy Saturday with friends.
This restaurant has gone downhill overtime. I love this restaurant group, and I've always loved this restaurant, but things have definitely changed, and not for the better. The cocktail menu, which was always fabulous, is less inspired. Our waitress asked us if we wanted doubles... we were so surprised, we didn't even understand the question at first. Who serves doubles of what are supposed to be craft cocktails?! The food was good overall, but the Wagyu sliders were terrible. In the past they've been great, but this time they were dry and bland, which is the exact opposite of what Wagyu should be; I question whether it was actually even Wagyu beef. They were WAY overpriced for what we were served this time. The service was a little scattered and slow. They had the Golden Globes on the tv, which I thought was a little odd, and I found it distracting. Overall this was a disappointing trip to an old favorite, and not worth it considering the cost.
I'm not sure we could love Ophelia's more. This was our third visit, and not our last. Every time we find something different to try and are never disappointed. (Quite the opposite exactly!)
Don't miss this place!@
This place rocks. All around - host, bar staff, wait staff, quality of entertainment, ambiance - all of it. Always. Thanks!
