Ophelia's Electric Soapbox
Music schedule and ticket purchases can be found at opheliasdenver.com
Ophelia’s has taken many forms: located in the historic 1894-era Victorian Airedale building, it was a brothel, turned peep show, turned adult video library.
We serve as a restaurant, bar, and live music venue, with a boudoir-style
décor that honors the building’s past; and Ophelia, the muse. Continuing the Edible Beats tradition of delicious, responsibly-sourced food, the upscale, gastrobrothel-inspired menu will include fresh, craveable takes on flatbread
pizza, small plates, burgers, and shareable charcuterie boards.
Need to book at 8:15 AM?Other great restaurants with availability.
Ambiance is great!
We went for my birthday and were told we had the best seat in the house(the owner’s corner) which was a cozy corner booth with a great view of the stage! The service, drinks, and food were all good, but the best part was the butterscotch pudding as a birthday treat for me as it was heavenly, creamy and delicious! Thanks for a great birthday dinner!
The restaurant week menu was a great value and the dishes we ordered were delish, including string Cheese Incident, Chicken and Sweet Potato Waffle. We sat down by the band- the Dexter Payne Trio- was amazing Brazilian music. What a fun night. My first time there and I will return!
I went to Ophelia's for Motown Monday with a few friends. We sat on the dance floor, basically, and the music was so glaringly loud (at :700pm), that we could barely hear each other talk. The dance floor was empty. The food was fine. We each had a few cocktails. I paid over $80 bucks for three small tostadas and 3 well cocktails, which is ridiculous. I guess some people are willing to pay $20 for a well drink? When we finally started dancing, the music wasn't AT ALL Motown. It was more like Motown remix with none of the original Motown songs. Not fun at all, and not what we came to dance to. The DJ was incredibly arrogant. When I asked if he took requests he said, "Maybe", implying he would if he liked the song I requested. I requested Think by Aretha Franklin, and he said he didn't have that song. What kind of MOTON DJ does't have Think by Aretha Franklin?! An inept DJ that couldn't care less if people were dancing or enjoying the music. No wonder the dance floor was empty.
Eclectic food meets fun atmosphere. Enjoyed the pork belly app tremendously but the flavors on the menu suggest tastes I never got. Same w/ the chx I tasted just the chili honey. The super slaw = pleasant surprise! Hazelnut cake was too dry for me as was the corn bread appetizer. They need something to cut that dryness. The music & background is what makes this place buzz w excitement.
Great venue. Great music - love Wes Watkins and his band, he's a creative force; Ophelia's books a diverse calendar; and volume is ideal if you're there for the music but want a few decibels to visit w/ you meal mates. Food, cocktails, and service is great at a great value. They take everything seriously so you don't have to. Love this place.
We've been a number of times and we were excited to revisit with some friends but will sadly not be going back. We were disappointed in the whole experience.
- The first course was labeled as gluten-free on the menu and was not - In fairness they were quick to respond, and thankfully I am always very careful, but this is a mistake not to be taken lightly and could have made me sick for 3 weeks.
- The main courses were brought out while we were eating our starters, returned to the kitchen where we assumed they were left under heating lamps. The food was dried out, toast was burned and luke warm at best.
- Wine was served after we had finished the main course.
- Dessert arrived on time, as advertised and was delicious. Unfortunately we were encouraged by wait staff to order more drinks to be told the next round of guests had been waiting for our table for 20 minutes.
- It was painfully loud making it impossible to have any sort of exchange with our friends.
- We paid the bill in full with tip and will not return to this restaurant anytime soon.
So sorry to have to leave such a terrible review.
Funky place, very cool. Food was great. Service was excellent. I went on a date, we both had a great time.
Amazing food, great service! LOVED this spot!
We always have the best time! The Saturday music brunch is a gem!
Great Saturday brunch! We enjoyed having a leisurely and delicious brunch on Saturday (get there early for best tables....it fills up quickly after 11:00.) Wait staff very attentive, nice ambience, music, fun and funky cocktails and the food was delicious! We tried the chicken and waffles, breakfast quesadilla, and arepas benedict. All were wonderfully prepared. We want to come back each month for this brunch in a historic Denver building. Great way to kick off the weekend!
Every aspect of this experience was more than what I could have hoped for. Fantastic food, gorgeous atmosphere, curious and interesting artwork, intriguing back story and great live music. Highly recommend. Will repeat.
Motown Monday was a blast with videos from the 60's and a great DJ with dance floor a hoppin. AMAZING Southern and Cajun dishes prepared with gourmet original flair..Yje Pork Belly the Fried Plantains and the Chicken sandwiches and the Choco Crunch Sundae were superb.. Faboulous bar and New Orleans style decor..LOVED IT!!!
Was a bit hard to talk over dinner given how loud it was. Food was excellent!
Everyone was very friendly and the service was good. My husband liked his entree but mine was not good.
Amazing food. Great live music. Best brunch in town
Cramped seating. Food was not great for the price.
Great experience.! Food was awesome
The food was uniquely exquisite; this is the type of place I would expect to find someone like Gordon Ramsay at. The restaurant seems to pay very special attention to the food and it shows. Though I was not very happy with the seating as it was cramped and not super convenient, with every bite of flavor I was paying attention to the seating less and less; the salad, cheese dip, burger and chicken were excellent and I would recommend this to everyone. The staff went above and beyond with the servers offering recommendations and attentive service.
Unique experience, groovy atmosphere, a little crowded, very friendly servers, good food. We enjoyed the free live music during our Saturday lunch.
Love the atmosphere, drinks were amazing, food was mostly really great! Awesome gluten free options!
Great food and service! The Chicken and Waffles with the cornbread was great!
Cool atmosphere, chic decor, creative menus, delicious food and drinks. Awesome pastries and services. Live music is very entertaining.
This is a great place and I was so happy to discover it! I was only in Denver for 4 days and we went for the Bluegrass and Brunch on Sunday. Absolutely thought the place was magic. Food was excellent. Coffee was great. Music was fabulous and the Soul Train videos were a fun throwback too!
I would highly recommend any living or visiting Denver to check this place out.
Ophelia's is such a cool, unique place! I loved the art, interior design, general energetic atmosphere, and the old school jams that the DJ spun for Mowtown Monday. The food was great and at a reasonable price point and the service was amazing. I highly recommend checking this place out!
Only go if you are prepared for a LOT of background noise.
Sam was PHENOMENAL! Definitely request him for brunch.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere inside Ophelia’s! Service was fantastic. Overall the food was really good as well. I had their version of eggs Benedict which I have no complaints about.. however, there was a pastry platter on special that was very underwhelming.
We had dinner & stayed for an 80s DJ. Food was fantastic, service was great. Dance was fun-as one can expect the dance floor was covered in booze by midnight. I would comment for owners need to get the women’s bathrooms fixed, the toilets don’t work well (or not ready for high volume on a Sat night!). Otherwise the place was fun atmosphere. Parking lot north of building was tight esp with snow piled up and it’s a little sketch part of town leaving at 1 am so also keep that in mind. But we will be back!!
Simply a terrific experience. The food was outstanding, service was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We loved it and have told several others this is a not miss experience!
Went to this place to have a birthday brunch with my fiancé. When I made a reservation online, I specifically asked for a booth and not a table close to another table. They seated us next to the door and it was freezing. It was so uncomfortable to even have a conversation with my fiancé due to close proximity to others. It was my first time and would probably go there again just because I like the eclectic style of it. Hoping staff should pay more attention to costumers preferences.
This was a fun brunch. The service was good and the meal well prepared. It was a menu of the weird food millennials are so fond of, which really isn't my thing. The mimosas seemed over-priced. But all things considered it was a pretty good time.
Service was amazing, fast and extremely attentive. Food needs bigger portions but was very delicious. The ambiance and decor was super cool . I will definitely come back to Denver and first stop would be Ophelia’s.
The service was awesome! Friendly, attentive wait staff, great banter and fun! We went there on Superbowl night, but the crowd was there for the live music. They turned on the game for the 4th quarter, and then went back to music afterwards, accommodating the desires of the diners, which I thought was great! unique and tasty plates!
What a unique and eclectic night with my wife and adult children. They loved it. The meal was awesome, the service was wonderful and the live music was amazing. We chose to this over the superbowl and each one of us have decided it was the best superbowl ever. Thanks Ophelia's for a great experience.
Great atmosphere and the food was very good. However the service was poor
Our meal was good, the servers are a little forgetful, maybe have too many tables to work. If the waiters were able to slow down a bit and make you feel more at ease, it would be nice. A little too businesslike.
Wow, that was one of the best meals we have had in a while. Ophelia's has a limited menu, but what is there was incredible. It was a tad loud, but really the soundtrack for dinner was incredibly good and not too overwhelming. I had the steak, and I have never had steak that melted in my mouth like that. My wife loved her Lamb Gyro, and our dessert was incredible. Our Server was great, though overwhelmed at times, so she was unable to stop by as much as she probably would have liked.
My only complaint, is the way the place is setup, the large screen TV tends to be quite distracting at times, especially if you are in the rows right in front of it. So it was easy to get distracted during dinner.
we wanted dinner and a show but we weren't told that a private event was happening and that that meant no music. which was a bummer on top of having to move our res up 30 minutes to still eat there.. i guess we will try again.
