The Ginger Chicken is always consistently excellent!
Food was delicous and service was great! Always have a great meal when we go!
Highly recommend
I specifically called the restaurant to see if they did anything special for birthdays. They said they bring out a dessert with sparklers in it. Was very disappointed when the dessert came out with nothing and had to ask for the sparklers right in front of the birthday girl. Kind of awkward.
Very expensive for what you get. Not as good as it used to be. Had the trip through the asian market or whatever they call it now. $15 base price for all the veggies you can stick into the bowl and then $4-6 for the protein. Got the chicken and the BBQ pork. 3 pieces of chicken and 4 pieces of pork......That's a better part of $9 for 7 pieces of meat. My wife had an order of chicken and the scallops in her's. 1 big piece of chicken and 3 smaller ones and im not too sure on the scallops. Just too expensive for what you get. WIll go somewhere else next time.
Great food, have been here 3 times and have never been disappointed.
Food was great. Server was absent minded, forgot a few drink orders on a few occasions,
Very enjoyable- great service and a unique way of presenting varieties of rice, noodles, meats, seafood, vegetables, sauces and garnishes. Great decor and ambience. Special occasions can be celebrated here as well as dinner with friends and family. Children enjoy this restaurant. We have no hesitation in recommending Open Sesame to anyone looking for good food in a warm and comfortable spot.
Took way too long for everything, was not impressed with the service of our server. Was there for a celebration and in the end was not happy or impredded. Food was excellent that was about it that I was happy about.
Also having that many connected restaurants, need to have better parking. When you have a reservation, it's pointless when you have difficulties finding parking
Delicious fresh food...excellent service. We will definitely return.
Our friends' first time and they were impressed as we knew they would be
Great food, always fresh. Friendly service but not overbearing. Reasonable prices offering a wide selection of menu items.Drink prices were also set at a reasonable price.
Excellent selection of different Asian foods. I have ben to a lot of Asian countries and the food is authentic. Also lots of vegan choices. It was the 2nd time Austin served us - he is great. Lots of cozy tables and corners for privacy.
Open Sesame is one of our favorite restaurants. Great food, super service and amazing atmosphere.
I haven’t been here in a long time and was very happy to see that it was even better than I remembered. I will definitely be back soon!
I have been enjoying meals at Open Sesame for at least 12 years. I love bringing visitors to Calgary here. The dining experience is quite different from most cookie cutter establishments. The fusion of Asian, Indian and Thai dishes are great. I do enjoy the stir fry make your own bowls, however, the ginger chicken is my absolute favorite.
Our server was very attentive, and knowledgeable about our meal options.
We enjoyed our family time together, celebrating one of our Don's birthday. As always the food choices are outstanding and when the meal arrives, it never disappoints. Lots of selection for picky eaters when you build your own Stirfry! We really enjoyed our server ... very friendly and attentive, but not over-attentive! He had the right balance and was fun to have as our server. Forget his name but he had a definite Europeon accent!
Great food for a fair price except the appetizers- ridiculously expensive for the size of the portion. Could also use a better burbon selection, but still a great place to go.
Was so looking forward to dining again at Open Sesame but this time the service was disgraceful, waiting over 10 minutes for our first drink, waited over 60 minutes for our main meal which never arrived. Even though the place was not full . Waitress never even offered us a 2nd drink she never came to the table to apologize about the food being late or even to offer us another drink. In the end we left, totally disappointed. It will be a very long time before i consider going back there. Would i recommend the open sesame sorry no service was non existent.
It was fabulous but I would highly recommend the sizzling plates over the stir fry bowls. The bowls get cold fast and some of the veggies were cut up way too large. My open table requests wasn’t read so we didn’t get the table we requested so that was disappointing.
Great as always. The do-it-yourself stir fry options are excellent and plentiful.
Friendly staff, decent service, good food. Liked the cozy booth that leant itself to good conversation and an enjoyable time.
This is my third visit and the food has been exceptional each time. As I am not a Calgary resident I only get to visit when coming to a concert or Doctor appointment. Will highly recommend. The staff are friendly and courteous and very detailed orientated.
The food is great and the staff is wonderful.
Our waiter was great but he was so busy that the service was quite slow. We frequently visit Open Sesame and are always happy. Just noticed that the service was slower than normal.
It's always a pleasure. The waiter was too notch again this visit. Matt was our best server to date. Thanks again.
Love the stir fry! I get it every time and am never disappointed!
Great service! Food was amazing as always. Great option to have a reduced portion for my kids.
Service was "meh", but I think it was busy for a Tuesday. Friendly service, just a bit absent.
I really like the concept of this restaurant. Its always a lot of fun. On this last visit I went for lunch time. My food arrived and it was lukewarm. It was still tasty. Ordered brown rice but I'm pretty sure I received white rice Waiter forgot to bring my coffee but after I mentioned it, it was brought right away and I was not charged. Waiter was friendly. Overall , it was still a good experience.
The food is expensive for the quality you receive. $2o for one bowl.
The meat was not fresh ( barbecued pork).
The lighting is far too dark.
The waiter pushed the alcohol menu ( 3 times).
I would not return.
The food was tasty, but expensive!
Two of us got the build your own stir fry, the basic charge being $15 which included the vegetables and sauce! The meat for the stir fry was $5.00 each, we were under the impression the meat would be $5.00 total, the rice itself and the Nann bread are each charged for seperately. The variety of meats, rice and sides was wide. Though I would like to say one of my ingredients was missing from my dish when it was returned.
The stacked seseme Chicken Salad was very good. The salad was large enough to be a meal in itself. My mother was able to take some home for lunch the following day.
Kung pao chicken was spicy, and spicy was desired. My husband enjoyed it.
We also tried the Brownie, Chai Cheesecake and Wan Ton Bananas, all of which were greatly enjoyed and devoured.
The tables and seats needed more thought. There was no leg room for two short people, the seats in the booth (which was raised) was not ideal for a wheelchair, and was quite uncomfortable.
To get the wheelchair into the restraunt we had to go out, around and come back in through the kitchen entrance, and they were very kind. Our server was wonderful and attentive, he kept coming and checking on us, refilling glasses, made sure we had all we needed but did not hover or impose. Balanced our care wonderfully which I have noticed is sorely lacking in other establishments.
We had tried to make the reservation for Bolero using the internet link, and wound up with reservations for Open Seseme due to the two restraunts being connected not only in the same building but using the same app/site. Not knowing this was the situation I thought as I used the link from the site itself our reservation was with Bolero. This was quite disappointing on the one hand, and a huge flaw in their system.
We had dinner for a couple birthdays and as 3 servers we knew we were going to be complicated. Our server was wonderful. She got stuck with us after our first server had to leave and she dealt with all our requests perfectly and we had a wonderful evening. Thanks to the great staff at open sesame we will be back.
We had a decent meal (not great) at Open Sesame this Friday. The Singapore noodles were very good. The reason I rated the food at a 'good' level is that one member of our party added a protein to his dragon noodles, and did not receive an adequate portion of this add-on. When the waitress was questioned she came back with info, and it confirmed that the dish was shorted on the protein. The bill was not adjusted. Desserts were very good. The service was adequate. I did tip 15%, but held back from my typical 18% because there were a number of times we were just left. Also, we weren't asked about our mains at all.
Something for everyone...just wish the appetizer portions (Mushu Wrap & Terriyaki Ribs) was of a larger portion, especially for the amount charged. Barely enough for two people to enjoy.
We were there for a birthday dinner. It was good but our server wasn’t very friendly and the food wasn’t really anything you couldn’t do at home. Good, but nothing overly special.
I loved the place and the food, great experience
The food is delicious and healthy . Customer service is excellent. The environment is cool
It was good. But it was a little slow this time. I really enjoyed the bbq pork with my stir fry i will definely eat it again next time.
Very tasty food whether you do the make your own stir fry or the menu set ones. Service was fast and very nice.
The rice was mushy in our stir fry. I had heaped on the garlic and ginger and other flavors, but the food didn’t come out very flavorful at all. We were on the wild rose detox and thought this would be a good place to go. But the quality of the food was poor and quite costly.
Love Open sesame. The food is always great! the last outing however the service was really really slow. It was not too busy but I feel our waiter had more tables than what he could handle in order to be efficient. It took almost 30 minutes to get our bill. Despite the slower service ( and i should add its never like this so it was just a one off) i would still go back and recommend to other people. It is one of the best places to eat in my opinion.
