Open Road Grill
At Open Road, we honor the tradition of a cold beer, live music, and fresh food with friends and family every day. Stop by and make yourself at home!
5 of us came in and were seated right away, in the indoor portion of the restaurant. The dining room clearly had a theme but it wasn’t too much, it was very “American” but elegantly done. A waiter came and took our drink order promptly and we were served the complementary popcorn. As an appetizer we got the Carolina caviar aka the pimento cheese and it was great! Everything on the plate was eaten, even the piece of butter lettuce that the pimento cheese was presented on. Food was a little slow to come out but not too far behind the appetizer that we got super hungry again. Everyone enjoyed what they got, albeit the cooked to order burgers weren’t cooked to what was ordered. Besides that everything was great, and we will definitely be back again!
Music was great! Food was delicious. Our waitress was wonderful and very accommodating. And Mariana was very accommodating when we wanted to join another family for dinner. A fun and festive night!
Went on a Friday night at 7pm. Live music started at 8pm and it was WAY TOO LOUD!
Went for NYE brunch. Arrived at open, was seated and waited in immediately. Great service as always.
Open Road is a very nice "quick bite" place, large bar area seating - pizzas, other bar food, plus some reliably good entrees. The Brussels sprouts are a great appetizer and worth the trip along. Win choices seem limited, but good choices of beers on draft and bottles. Can be a little loud, but if your with a group, still can have a lively discussion. Live music the night we were there, but also had several sporting events on big screen TVs. Service was fine, food came out quickly. The fish tacos were good, but needed more fish to be outstanding (would have been better to serve just two full of fish than three.
Great food and fantastic service! This is our favorite restaurant for food and drinks.
Had no idea that this was a full sports bar, with a loud TV. Made reservations for brunch to meet up with friends and have a nice conversation. Manager was kind enough to turn down big TV, which was louder than we have it on at home! Still loud so buyer beware! Food very good, good drinks and service is excellent! Will remember type of restaurant this is and will go back again, just not for conversation.
Nice setting with a big bar and tv’s throughout. The menu is varied with salads, sandwiches and entree’s. They bring you popcorn when you sit down. Everyone in our party got a different salad. They were all very good. The shrimp in the shrimp salad was big and butterflied. We had the brussel sprout appetizer and it was really good. The service was great too. A good place to grab a bite with plenty of parking.
Monday night $8 open road burgers yum!
We have enjoyed Open Road on a number of occasions! Food is always good! The only negative I could say is sometimes it is really loud and may not be good for meaningful dinner conversation!
Food was yummy!
Very busy restaurant for a Friday night. We were happy that we made a reservation. The parking lot was pretty tiny, so just be aware if you’re coming in multiple cars. With the reservation we were sat right away. Pumpkin ravioli was delicious! The grilled cheese was just a regular old grilled cheese — nothing too special about it. Definitely recommend the house chips on the side.
Great food only suggestion don’t put the ribs on top of the French fries
Great food with a fun atmosphere! Not your average sports bar
Place is great - but loud. Cool if that's what you want, they don't hide it and it works for them.
Meats and fish were all over cooked. Very cold draft in the back
Reliably good food. Always know what to expect.
Great menu. Really nice variety.
Something for everyone.
Service with a smile.
Great service, food is always good and beer selection is plentiful. Casual yet upbeat dining. We went with our infant son and they couldnt have been nicer.
Enjoyed the great food, drinks and service with my husband and adult son. The guitarist had an exceptional voice.
Food here is solid but not spectacular. There is a large bear and alcohol selection. Service in the bar area is better than the tables but that isn't saying much. We waited 20 minutes just for water.
The nachos are the best part of this place.
Jambalaya was excellent. Overall all food itmes were good.
I have been going to Open Road for 3 years now. Love the restaurant. I have never had a bad meal. With the heaters on, we were able to sit on patio and listen to the awesome music they had. Great place for happy hour or casual dinner with the family. Can’t go wrong with Open Road.
Great food, service, and ambience!!
This is a great place for a fabulous burger, a nice cocktail, and usually a lively patio on a warm night.
Seating and service were prompt. The food arrived in a timely manner & was very good. I had the fish tacos—delicious!
Great service, yummy food but just too loud for a party of four to carry on a conversation.
Girlfriend and my dozenth or so trip to Open Road and everything was as good as the first.
Please never change.
Really good local restaurant and great service. Will go back
Best blackened chicken anywhere! Love getting the popcorn, as do our kids. This place is always consistently savory food. It can get busy but now you know why, everyone loves it! Foodies will love it too!
This place has the best sweet chili wings, great cocktails and a really friendly wait staff. Highly enjoyable!
It was ok. Would rather go to Sweetwater.
Burgers were ok. Beer was great though.
Open Road has the BEST burgers! If burgers aren't your thing try an appetizer or the Cobb salad - yum! The servers are always friendly & they give great beer recommendations.
I’ll start by saying that Open Road has a lot going for it - good food, good music, and an awesome waiter named Anthony. Unfortunately the GM, Rees, is the least bit concerned with customer experience and at the end of the day that means we won’t be returning.
We dined on a slow, rainy evening where they were short staffed due to someone calling out. Totally understandable. What isn’t understandable is to not even have a waiter who knows they’re assigned to our table. Each time we needed anything I had to get up, go inside and track down the GM myself, including when our entrees were totally forgotten. I understand mistakes happen but when I expressed that we were frustrated by our experience Rees didn’t offer a sincere apology but instead looked annoyed that I was complaining. The silver lining was a waiter named Anthony who wasn’t assigned to our table and didn’t receive a dime of our tip but still offered to help us and apologized for the dismal service. I wish he was the one running the place.
I was sad to see that the butternut squash pasta wasn't on the menu anymore. I ordered the blackened salmon instead. We also ordered the pretzel app. The cheese was way too spicy so we didn't eat that. I think there's a new chef or something because the food was presented differently that it was in the past (salmon and lettuce wraps) Overall it was good. I love going there.
This was the best visit of the past several. Jonathan was an excellent waiter - attentive and friendly. The food was overall good; though the fries were a little soggy. It's a fun environment and a good location.
Exceptional customer service! We went there for brunch and Malinda and I both ordered the nitro cold brew coffees. Since there was only one left, the waitress brought it out to the table at no charge. My husband ordered the fried chicken & bacon waffle with spiced watermelon. Malinda ordered the caprese salad & I had the short rib egg benedict. All the food was great except the waffles was cold. When the manager came by and ask how our brunch was. He commented that the waffles was cold. A few minutes later, a plate of hot waffles arrived at our table with the manager’s complement. We would definitely go back again!
Open Road is worth the drive to the VA burbs. An expansive indoor and outdoor bar, high ceilings, clean as a pin, and best of all, great food for the value. Saturday errands took us from DC to Fairfax and the bright blue Open Road Grill looked inviting as brunch time arrived. Excellent brunch cocktails, salads, and a variety of breakfast offerings. Family friendly in the day and bet it's a great Friday night outing as well. Try it!
The ceviche and blackened salmon were so good that we had to return the next day! Fish tacos were also tasty. One menu item we don't recommend are the $1 oysters (Tuesdays only). They were not that fresh.
The waitress was great, attentive without being annoying or ignoring. Was disappointed in the Fried chicken sandwich. Not much flavor, but all the other selections made a t the table were very good!
