About OPAH Restaurant & Bar @ Town Center Aliso Viejo
At Opah Restaurant & Bar, we serve the finest fresh fish in Orange County. Carefully hand selected each day to deliver the best quality available. Come in and enjoy the menu created by Marc A. Cohen, One of the Best Chef's in Orange County. The menu is exquisite, featuring edible works of art, that look so good the could be on a magazine cover. Dont forget to try one of our signature Award Winning Martinis, or have some wine outside near the fireplace on the patio. We offer live music for our patrons on certain nights as well to add to the dining experience. If you wondering how we came up with the name Opah. It comes from the Hawaiian word for Moonfish, which was once viewed as Good Luck by fisherman, & often given away as a gesture of Good Will.

OPAH Restaurant & Bar @ Town Center Aliso Viejo Ratings and Reviews
Great food, ambiance and happy hour!! Great spot for “Girls’ night out”. Happy hour serves great drink and food choice for a variety of appetitites! My favorite is the nachos but I also recently enjoyed some new appetizers.... the bacon wrapped dates and the cucumber and chicken meatballs! All were very yummy!!! Great skinny margarita!!
Glad to see the return of the won ton nachos, our favorite starter! Impeccable, attentive service from our server Sean, which made our wonderful meal a warm prelude to our matinee show at the nearby Edwards Theater. We look forward to returning again soon and more often.
Never disappoints. Only had starters with drinks. Ginger meatballs and coconut shrimp were excellent. Tried their plate of 3 oysters on half shell...excellent. The short rib pot pie was also good. Sounds like a lot but we were sharing. More than enough to eat. Thank goodness it was happy hour, saved a little money. Stephan made sure we were taken care of. A little expensive but a very nice dinner out.
After reading all of the glowing reviews, we tried Opah last night. A great disappointment! Starting with lousy service, tasteless bread, dry short ribs, coconut shrimp without coconut, having to ask for butter three times, we won't be coming back for dinner. However, the clam chowder was excellent! We may come back for a bowl of chowder and a glass of wine, but the overpriced tasteless meals? Forget about it.
This restaurant is a surprise. Out in Aliso Viejo, and 10 stars across the board.
Food presentation is as creative as a Magnum Restaurant. I have experienced countless 100.00 plate dining establishments and this restaurant deserves notice!
I have mussels every time, and they are always impeccably served with flower garnish! The servers always keep watch and ensure I never have a ugly bowl of shells
and replace with a clean bowls and silverware without request.
The service is "as if" you were like living Downton Abbey.
I have sample many main courses and specials now, and I have never been let down.
No dressing on all 4 guests Caesar salads! Had to ask for dressing which should not happen! Also, ridiculous $20.00 corkage fee! Fish and chips good. The "Key Lime Pie "was horrible! Should never have ordered it! Not like the traditional Key Lime at other restaurants. Not really happy for the amount of the meals and noise!
Everything was delicious! I was a bit disappointed, when I made the reservation I stated it was for a birthday hoping they would do a little special surprise. We ordered dessert and when it was served there was no candle. I quickly asked if they had a candle, our server brought one out promptly which was fine. I am also in the restaurant business and find those little details quite important. Otherwise our dining experience was great.
We were visiting from the Dallas. OPAH was recommended by the owner of the Vacation Rental Home where we were staying.
Service was excellent. Our waiter was pleasant and table service by the rest of the staff was very attentive. Everyone at the table enjoyed the salads, meals, and desserts that they ordered.
Overall, completely satisfied.
We've dined here many times before and have always enjoyed our meals. The were a couple of hiccups this time but they weren't deal-killers.
Our server was very attentive and service was good. The low point was when I asked for a non-alcoholic cocktail and the bartender poured a blend of cranberry, orange, and pineapple juices. I guess I'm used to bartenders knocking it out of the park, creating unique and delicious "mocktails". It was just a little boring.
I ordered the mussels as a starter. They were the most minuscule mussels I've ever seen (think pistachio nut), but they were in a curry lime kaffir broth which was very nice. I supposed when you are purchasing mussels for your restaurant, you never know what's inside!
My husband's pot pie appetizer and fish was perfect!
Delicious! Haven't been here for years and it did not disappoint! Happy hour in entire restaurant, and the waiter made sure to tell us we had 10 more minutes if we wanted anything off the happy hour menu! That was/is a great waiter! He was rewarded with a nice tip!
Was a bit disappointed- looking at the menu on line and read some of the reviews so was expecting more - prices indicated a "dining experience" and the service etc felt more like a place you would go to grab a quick bite with the kids - more like a chain type rushed experience -
We selected Opah for its location and appropriateness for our business lunch. I loved being able to make a reservation online and the waiter was very polite and professional and servers kept us filled with waters and ensured we were taken care of. I loved my salmon with broccolis. I also loved seating outdoors with the heaters.
Opah very dried out and was not charged for it which I appreciated. I was hosting three people. Seafood salad was outstanding as was the Poke and onion soup. Fried fish sandwich roll way too big. What happened here? This was a favorite place in the past? Is anyone tasting the food before it is served? Please serve the bread in a different format. Awkward to cut and nothing to write home about anyway. Come back Marc Cohen and give this place some of your attention. Thanks. Ellen
