Opa is a Modern Greek restaurant and bar located in Center City's Midtown Village neighborhood. The menu features a fresh take on traditional Greek flavors. Featured items from the mezedes (small plates) include lamb, crab or duck gyros served on house made pita, fresh baked filo pies and our famously delicious grilled octopus. Trapezi, or "dishes for the table" include buttermilk fried rabbit and Colorado lamb chops. The signature cocktail list and Greek wine selection offer the perfect complement to your meal. Acclaimed designer, Jun Aizaki/Creme, created an alluring setting which includes a striking birch branch canopy.

Opa Ratings and Reviews
Opa was very close to a Tapas type restaurant in the Greek genre. We ordered many appetizers that ran the gamut of flavors, all which added to the experience. If you are unfamiliar with Greek food, you should give Opa a try. It's a fantastic way to learn about Greek cuisine.
I'll start with the pros: food was technically excellent. Now the cons.... I dined alone at 7:15 PM, Oct 2 and ordered an app, a salad, and an entree from the grill. To drink, I ordered an ouzo and a bottle of wine. The server informed me that dishes came out as they were ready. I usually hear that when dining with a group of people. To me, that means don't order seated dishes, better to share. However, being alone, I assumed my meal would be coursed, especially considering the drinks I ordered. Sadly, all of the dishes came out at once, much to my horror! Perhaps there was a communication error. I'd recommend this restaurant and I'll be sure to have my food coursed next time.
Our meal was great! The saganaki is one of my favorite dishes here. It just melts in your mouth and has such incredible flavor. The souvlaki is good as well. This time I had the chicken and was not disappointed. For dessert we shared the loukoumades with chocolate drizzle.... Also amazing. Good flavor and the chocolate drizzle was a nice touch with the traditional honey. Definitely would recommend this place.
excellent place with well presented, very tasty and well prepared food, has been our restaurant of choice for the last year or two, before we go to the Kimmel for a performance
The portions are rather small and gives you the chance to try several dishes. Prices are very moderate
Good service and we usually have Jesse as a server
Prompt service so you can make it to any performance with plenty of time.
We will return soon.
Another great evening with Opa! The menu has changed since last visit, but still quite an exciting menu of tapas and plates. Spanikopita is rich and decadent - completely off the chart. The watermelon salad.. refreshing and delicious. The special salmon plate rocked. Grab a table by the window--great fun!
I went on date during restaurant week. The meal was $35 per person for 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and a dessert. We were so full we couldn't finish every sampling. The food tasted great! However the gyro plate came like a build-your-own with a pita cut into triangles. It was fine, just not what I expected. They didn't have chocolate sauce for the greek donuts and we aren't fans of baklava. Would have liked one more option for dessert.
Jesse the waiter is a fantastic human being that can sing beautifully! A party of 3 gathered here last night to celebrate a friends birthday and the service, ambiance, and food were all fantastic! I truly enjoyed this dining experience, and I will gladly return!
We have been at Opa before and will go again. The restaurant seemed overwhelmed by the number of customers and kitchen was erratic. It was restaurant week and the offerings at Opa consisted of way too much food. I wish I would have asked to order from the usual menu. That option was not offered, however. We like Opa, however, and think it just had a bad night.
We have been to Opa many times in the past and have always enjoyed it thoroughly. This last time was no exception. A warm and welcoming environment, nice bar and a great table by the window to people watch just added to the wonderful meal. We started off with saganaki and the roll your own grape leaves starters. The saganaki was absolutely delicious and served with fresh, warm pita. The grape leaves dish came with savory ground beef, rice, paprika chicken, fresh mint, feta and chick peas. Also fantastic. We continued with the charred broccoli served with golden raisins and pumpkin seeds and just the right amount of tzatziki and the village salad. All vegetables were very fresh and nicely presented. Last dishes were all souvlaki dishes and were fantastically flavorful. Love tapas restaurant. You can really sample so much of the menu without getting overly stuffed. Great wait staff too. Definitely will continue to frequent Opa and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves healthy, flavorful food in a warm and vibrant atmosphere
I really wanted to like Opa. I never ever complain but this was one mess after another. The service was disorganized. Things arrived we didn't order and things we ordered were forgotten. An allergy request turned into so many ridiculous questions it was as if I were the only person they had ever met with a food allergy. Food that should have been warm or hot arrived icy cold in the middle. And there was no one in the restaurant so it isn't like they were crazy busy. I adore Greek food but this laid in me like a rock. Oh and if I want dolmas (stuffed grape leaves) why the heck should I roll them myself? The server kept trying to sell me on the meat dolmas, which come already rolled, that had WALNUTS in them even after I had told her several times I was allergic to nuts. Kind of a disaster of an evening. My friend and I couldn't wait to leave.
I was disappointed in my recent visit to Opa. The menu has changed and several of my favorite dishes were no longer available. My experience was just okay. The food was good, but not great. Service was good, but there are many other places to go to, so I do not think that I will rush back. I checked the menu online a couple of days before my visit and did not notice the new menu, so I am sure it was very recent. Would be nice to make sure that your website is up to date.
Exceptional food. Only comment - the waitress told us people usually order two to three plates a person. My mom and I, two average sized females, ordered five dishes and could only eat three, had to take two home. The three that we ate there were only appetizers too. Great food and ambiance though. Will be back for the saganaki.
Made reservations which is always good to have since it was a saturday and this area is loaded with people on a beautiful day. I was greeted and taken to my table immediately to wait for the rest of my party. Staff were pleasant and offered suggestions. I had the charred broccoli which was fantastic and the skewers which were tender and juicy.
The wine suggestion was a merlot and complimented the meal. Overall I would definitely come back here again.
