Uneven. Salad uninspired. Lamb chops a winner, Fiddlehead ferns ok but overcooked, Gyro terrible- meat tough, stringy, fatty. Baklava ok. Estia is better.

Some of the best Greek food I have ever had!

We were very dissapointed with the service at the restaurant. The food/drinks came out one plate/drink at a time and 4-5 minutes went by in between the food/drink drop off. It made our meal very disjointed. I had to start my meal before anybody else on the table got their meal and I finished it before my wife got her meal. The waitress was hard to find, we ended up not even ordering a second round of drinks. My burger bun was charred and the beef patty was overdone. Overall, it was a frustrating experience, and we feel the restaurant could’ve delivered better on service. We likely won’t come back and I don’t know that I would recommend it without much pretense.

Food far surpassed my expectations! The beet salad and shrimp with dill rice were exemplary. Outstanding baklava with Home made honey ice cream. The octopus meatballs were the inky miss as there was no discernible Seafood flavor. Casual atmosphere and young vibe. I will definitely return!

Service was very good, and the food was delightful in each category, from fish to vegetables to sauces. The value of the food, however, was truly excellent. Whole fish for under $25, gyros under $10, the value of Opa is spectacular. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

First time to Opa and we were really pleased. The size of the plates allowed us to try many items. The Greek wines were definitely very good, better than expected. The server thoroughly explained the food and helped with choosing the wines. No problem going back.

GREAT GREEK FOOD, WE TRIED EVERYTHING. THE LAMB CHOPS ARE SUPERB, THE MUSSELS WERE THE BEST I EVER HAD IN MY LIFE & THE SAUCE WAS SUPERB FOR DIPPING. THE OCTOPUS WAS DONE PERFECTLY AS WELL. GREAT SELECTION AT FAIR PRICES.

The service was excellent despite others saying it was not good...food was excellent. We had gyros and souvlaki plate with a side of spanikopita and meatballs.. all were great

Will probably not return to Opa. Plates were smaller than expected but too big to get two. My wife got a pita plate which was small pork pieces, small triangles of pita bread, and some tzatziki. My bronzino was a good size portion and came with roasted broccoli with cheese. Well, in reality very little cheese and the broccoli was sorted of roasted/dried. The bronzino was overdone and dry and flavorless - no sauce served with it, no butter/lemon no sauce with capers, no anything.

It seemed as though they were a little understaffed for Valentine's Day - our server was hustling, she never stopped moving, yet we only saw her at our table a couple of times. Regardless, the food was delicious and despite the close proximity of the tables, it didn't feel crowded. Definitely recommend the saganaki, although it is a little harrowing in closer quarters (I feared for my coat, across the back of my chair, when a neighboring table ordered it).

Food was tasty, but just expect small portions. Desert took about 20 or 30 minutes to serve, but possibly because it was a busy Saturday night

Brought my boyfriend here (who is Greek) for an early Valentine’s Day date. The waiter was really pleasant and attended to our table well. The food was pretty good and the prices were not bad. However, somewhat overpriced for what you could order in comparison to other Greek restaurants in Philly. Opa’s main dishes were equilavent to a lot of the “fast food” Greek restaurants in the area. Gyro Gyro offers better souvlakis and gyros than Opa. The Gyro nachos were a creative take on Mexican nachos. Yet, the pita “chips” or slices were stale and oily. The chicken in my souvlaki sandwich was charred (every piece) and made the sandwich taste horrible. I ended up just taking the chicken out. The gyro and souvlaki’s are not as filling or filled as you might hope. Each had a dash of lettuce and one slice of tomato sliced in half. The ambience makes up for what some of the dishes lack. Perhaps the larger entrees like the lamb are better. But a Greek restaurant should not get a souvlaki wrong.

We grabbed a quick bite here before theater. Had a great seat by the window, so could see all the passing people on a surprisingly mild January evening. The waitstaff was very helpful with my request to avoid dairy. We did not eat a lot -- a rice bowl for me, souvlaki platter for hubby. At first, the lamb tasted a little too lamb-y, but it improved as I mixed it up. Our waitress actually came over to check on us too many times, considering we were drinking water and eating one dish apiece. Would definitely go back; hubby liked it too. Great prices.

Brought my entire flight crew here while on a layover from Seattle. Airline crew are always looking for good places to eat. A great place to eat while in Philly. Close to our hotel, yummy food & a nice staff to take care of us. The ‘Greek cheese flambé’ as an appetizer is a must. SO good! See you next time. Thanks!

Figured to try Opa out during restaurant week. Food was smaller portions but that worked so my friend and I could try many things. I enjoyed the food very much. I enjoyed the brussel sprouts a lot. We also got a rice bowl, the gyro, the steak, the salad, and hummus. The apple dessert was ok, just a bit flaky for my liking. But the baklava, which I'm a fan of, was great. There was nothing wrong with the service or food. I would so go back and try the regular menu.

3 of us went for Restaurant prior to Speaker Series at the Kimmel. The food was terrific with so many different flavors that we loved sharing. Our wait staff was wonderful (Danny, I believe); attentive but not intrusive; knowledgeable of menu and drinks, patient, and a great smile. It was an enjoyable dining experience.

Restaurant Week

My first visit to Opa was during restaurant week where the 4 course tasting menu allowed our party of 4 to taste most of what the restaurant was offering. Some stand outs for our group were the Avgolemono soup ( chicken egg lemon rice soup) which was light and and very tasty with the right note of lemon, the hanger steak was perfectly prepared, the butternut squash filo pie which was more like a sweet dessert and the apple filo pie. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The bar scene was livley and crowded as people enjoyed the happy hour which I hope to return to try. Unfortunately one could not avail onelself to the happy hour prices even though it was within the time frame. Happy hour is only available at the bar. I'd happily recommend Opa to anyone.

Baklava is the highlight and enjoyed an interesting fig vodka cocktail. Great souvlaki skewers. Gyro was a little disappointing as the thickness of the pita overwhelmed the meager portion of shrimp inside it and it felt like it needed a spread or sauce. Always enjoy the leisurely atmosphere and attentive service here though on this visit the hostess created a lot of unnecessary confusion with our reservation. We showed up a little early and even though there appeared to be plenty of tables we were not seated. Then when we came back on time, our table was just a few moments away from being cleared and she tried to seat us close to the door even though we had specifically said we wanted to sit toward the back. On a busy night with no reservations, I would understand the confusion but it seemed unnecessary in this situation.

I was looking for a NYE dinner/ drink event in the city. Since pretty much everywhere was full for the night, I went for OPA! Well, parking was easy and food was okay. The portions were ridiculous though!! Lol we got a greek salad for the table and I literally counted feta cheese cubes in the plate '3' little cubes. The waitress came to us and said she needed us to leave at 22:40pm. Btw, we were drinking and constantly ordering Uzo... I mean it is a Greek restaurant, did we expect too much?? She didnt even offer us to move to bar side if we were going to keep drinking until mid night! It is a NYE!! Who would like to leave at 22:40 pm before mid night!! Come on OPA! We can get dinner anywhere, what makes you a good Greek restaurant! Shame never again!!
