Opa is a Modern Greek restaurant and bar located in Center City's Midtown Village neighborhood. The menu features a fresh take on traditional Greek flavors. Featured items from the mezedes (small plates) include lamb, crab or duck gyros served on house made pita, fresh baked filo pies and our famously delicious grilled octopus. Trapezi, or "dishes for the table" include buttermilk fried rabbit and Colorado lamb chops. The signature cocktail list and Greek wine selection offer the perfect complement to your meal. Acclaimed designer, Jun Aizaki/Creme, created an alluring setting which includes a striking birch branch canopy.
Walk-in seating is available at the 24 seat bar and offers the full menu.

Opa Ratings and Reviews
Baklava is the highlight and enjoyed an interesting fig vodka cocktail. Great souvlaki skewers. Gyro was a little disappointing as the thickness of the pita overwhelmed the meager portion of shrimp inside it and it felt like it needed a spread or sauce. Always enjoy the leisurely atmosphere and attentive service here though on this visit the hostess created a lot of unnecessary confusion with our reservation. We showed up a little early and even though there appeared to be plenty of tables we were not seated. Then when we came back on time, our table was just a few moments away from being cleared and she tried to seat us close to the door even though we had specifically said we wanted to sit toward the back. On a busy night with no reservations, I would understand the confusion but it seemed unnecessary in this situation.
I was looking for a NYE dinner/ drink event in the city. Since pretty much everywhere was full for the night, I went for OPA! Well, parking was easy and food was okay. The portions were ridiculous though!! Lol we got a greek salad for the table and I literally counted feta cheese cubes in the plate '3' little cubes. The waitress came to us and said she needed us to leave at 22:40pm. Btw, we were drinking and constantly ordering Uzo... I mean it is a Greek restaurant, did we expect too much?? She didnt even offer us to move to bar side if we were going to keep drinking until mid night! It is a NYE!! Who would like to leave at 22:40 pm before mid night!! Come on OPA! We can get dinner anywhere, what makes you a good Greek restaurant! Shame never again!!
We went to Opa before attending a weeknight concert at the Kimmel. Service was quick, and noise level quite tolerable. Food was good, I loved having thesaganaki as it is diffiult to find that these days. The Brussels sprouts were too gooey, but the Beeftsziki burger was good . Not sure how quickly I would return because the menu is rather limited. Best for what it advertises--appetizers!
Opa was very close to a Tapas type restaurant in the Greek genre. We ordered many appetizers that ran the gamut of flavors, all which added to the experience. If you are unfamiliar with Greek food, you should give Opa a try. It's a fantastic way to learn about Greek cuisine.
I'll start with the pros: food was technically excellent. Now the cons.... I dined alone at 7:15 PM, Oct 2 and ordered an app, a salad, and an entree from the grill. To drink, I ordered an ouzo and a bottle of wine. The server informed me that dishes came out as they were ready. I usually hear that when dining with a group of people. To me, that means don't order seated dishes, better to share. However, being alone, I assumed my meal would be coursed, especially considering the drinks I ordered. Sadly, all of the dishes came out at once, much to my horror! Perhaps there was a communication error. I'd recommend this restaurant and I'll be sure to have my food coursed next time.
Our meal was great! The saganaki is one of my favorite dishes here. It just melts in your mouth and has such incredible flavor. The souvlaki is good as well. This time I had the chicken and was not disappointed. For dessert we shared the loukoumades with chocolate drizzle.... Also amazing. Good flavor and the chocolate drizzle was a nice touch with the traditional honey. Definitely would recommend this place.
excellent place with well presented, very tasty and well prepared food, has been our restaurant of choice for the last year or two, before we go to the Kimmel for a performance
The portions are rather small and gives you the chance to try several dishes. Prices are very moderate
Good service and we usually have Jesse as a server
Prompt service so you can make it to any performance with plenty of time.
We will return soon.
Another great evening with Opa! The menu has changed since last visit, but still quite an exciting menu of tapas and plates. Spanikopita is rich and decadent - completely off the chart. The watermelon salad.. refreshing and delicious. The special salmon plate rocked. Grab a table by the window--great fun!
