Very good sushi and rolls. Wonderful spicy seafood soup. Special appetiezr of sea bass was outstanding. will definitely return
Server was super friendly and hospitable. Chef was entertaining and food was excellent.
Always entertaining and LARGE portions, never leave hungry. Typical hibachi offering, but well prepared. Would certainly recommend
Enjoyable evening with friends to celebrate the ending of my birthday month. I tried a new combo this time: chicken and scallops, and my husband splurged and went with Ooka 2. The mai tais were very good, except silly me forgot to stir the drink and had all of the alcohol on the bottom. Brighid was a delight from the beginning of the meal to the very end. She was able to treat me to some salted caramel ice cream for my dessert.
Service was pretty poor. The two people that came after us got all of their food and drinks before us. Our waters were almost never refilled and just inattentive all around. The food wasn’t really that great either. I have had much better sushi and hibachi elsewhere. Would probably never go back.
Always very good!
Very enjoyable experience overall it was my son’s 15th birthday. It is expensive but the quality of food was good
Food was tasty and service was amazing. Our sever was very accomodating and extremely polite. He was very zen and contributed to the great atmosphere!
As always, Ooka never disappoints. Thank you Dean for treating us like royalty! The staff at Ooka is 5 star! We wish we lived closer to go more often! Sushi was insanely fresh, everything was absolutely amazing, all Dean's recommendations.
The restaurant was so loud that the waitress had a hard time understanding my parents order. They wanted their sushi to be wrapped in something other than seaweed and somehow that was heard as brown rice instead of white.
Sushi wasn’t fresh...James Bond roll was nothing like the Willow Grove location. The rice in the California roll was dried out... Although this location is a closer distance, would not recommend this location...
Love having Ooka so close by. Great drinks & sushi. Good vegetarian options
Food was great as always. Had a bad experience however from a service perspective. Inattentive waiter. Missing for 15-20 minutes at a time. Not following up with kitchen for timeliness and accuracy of order both of which went very wrong. Runners were not briefed or order not flagged correctly for who ordered what. Had to quiz everyone at the table to get it right. Brought food hat was for another table etc. First time we ad this type of experience after several visits so maybe an anomaly but certainly worth noting as it was just that bad. Probably also woth noting that when I brought the missing waiter to the attention of the reception staff, they did not escalate to a manger and appeared there may not have been anyone running the place at the time that was older than 21.
Harry does a great job-made us feel like we were the only ones there
Great food and service. A bit smoky at times. Drinks took a bit but were worth the wait.
Great place it was my first time very high quality beautiful and the cooks make you laugh unexpected surprises.
Very good , delicious food, quick service
Had a wonderful evening. I got a lot of different lobster styled meals and each one was fantastic. My fience got steak and chicken and loved everything about the evening. Great time and will continue to come back.
The best place to go if you love Sushi and their special menu is great . Ooka is the only place my husband and I will go for sushi. We always love the food and the service It is the BEST
Awful seating set-up! We were seated at a table for two that was part of a row of two seat tables that were about six inches apart from each other. I cannot understand how anyone thought this setup would be a good dining experience for anyone. It is obvious the goal was to squeeze in as many tables as possible and no consideration for the customers. It was Valentine’s Day and we were seated at what was basically a community table. Everyone seated in the community table row had the same shocked look when seated. Fortunately the other customers were friendly and had a “we will get through this attitude”. We could not have a conversation without everyone hearing us and we could hear what everyone else was saying. The waiters banged into us when serving the food and clearing the tables. We have been to Ooka many times and always sat in a booth, I had no idea they had a cattle call area. The restaurant is too nice to have such a horrible seating arrangement that ruins the customer dining experience. It is a shame a delicious meal and holiday were ruined by the greed to setup more tables then fit comfortably.
Be wise when reserving and be sure you don’t get stuck in this horrible area. If we go back I will request a booth!
This was my first time experiencing hibachi and I loved it! The food was amazing and I cannot wait to go back!
Friendly staff and excellent food every time! Our go to sushi place. Kids love it there too. A lot of non sushi options for them
Booked a hibachi table for my family to celebrate the birthdays of our two adult sons. Party of eight included our two grandchildren. The overall experience was very good and the food and show put on by our chef was excellent. Three of us ordered different sushi plates that we were able to share (all were above average) and that turned out to be the highlight of the evening, in my opinion. As always, the alcohol pricing in places like these is more than it should be, but we are used to that. Service was excellent and the booking via Open Table turned out to work perfectly.
Service and food was great! We had sushi/sashimi and enjoyed our dining experience other than an occasional roar from the crowd in the hibachi room.
Food great. Service good. Drinks watered down. Overall Expensive but would still go for special occasion, in future I won’t waste money on drinks.
Great place, love the food. Excellent service
We always have a wonderful experience here. The food, service and atmosphere are always consistent.
Good food as always. Lunch is usually quiet, cheaper, and just enough food.
Have eaten here several times. This was NYE. They were too busy and in too much of a hurry. I felt rushed
The restaurant was freezing, they forgot scallops and salmon to cook on the hibachi, they forgot to bring two orders of brown rice which are an up charge, they forgot to bring everyone the soup and salad. So after the main course was cooked and served they were brought over. Who wanted it then? We inquired about it, they didn’t even realize.
The food was excellent. The service was great but the chef was a little boring. Not as much of a showman as some of the others we’ve had.
Great venue where you are entertained while getting good food to eat.
This is the best sushi we have ever had and the entire staff is the most courteous friendly and timely staff we have ever met.
Wonderful dinner with great service. Alex is great. He went over the specials and recommended food and drinks to us. Alex is very knowledgeable and knew the menu well. He made the meal that much better. Ask for Alex when you dine in the main section.
We went to Ooka for Christmas eve-eve. Chef was funny and great with our 7 year old! Will return for special occasions!
Ooka is one of our favorites, we've had consistently great service from regular employees. We had a new server for Christmas dinner with out of town family. He made a good effort to be helpful but git some of the order wrong. Nonetheless good food as always, everybody left full and happy. We'll gladly come again!
Ooka faces some stiff competition in the Sushi Bar arena, as there are a multitude of alternative restaurants in the Montgomeryville area that serve Japanese food.
Ooka has the benefit of a classy-looking dining establishment and creative specials, but if you're going there to simply eat sushi, their portions are not as generous as other locations (particularly when compared to nearby Umai).
Ooka's ingredients were find, but their nigiri sushi was a large serving of rice with an adequate (but not generous) covering of fish.
I'd go there again if I wanted to impress a friend with a beautiful restaurant experience, but if I want to treat them to some delicious and plentiful servings there are better places to go.
While the ambience and service was good, we were extremely disappointed with the food. We went for the hot entrées, which were lacking in flavor; the active ingredient being salt!
Never disappointed at Ooka! Always great, fresh food
