Onyx - Four Seasons Westlake Village Ratings and Reviews
Food was ok however no value for the price
The chairs were filthy black food grease or black body oils on the fabric yuk
The floors are wood and need restoration scratched dirty and more
This should not be the level of restaurant to be associated to the four seasons name
Fantastic food, service and cocktails. Clean and neat throughout. All the employees were a joy to talk with, with great personalities. All come by from the manager down to make sure you are happy. The food has incredible taste and is presented very well. The atmosphere and decor is very warm and classy.
I took my two teenage sons here for a birthday celebration. Cory gave us excellent service which was very appreciated. At one point a manager showed up to make sure that everything was going well. This is a huge improvement from the last time we dined at the Four Seasons. Last time felt more like a coffee shop then fine dining but they obviously have stepped up their game!
Food was very fresh and tasted great. Pricing was higher than expected. Sushi is pretty costly in general so I did expect a hefty tab. We got two appetizers, three specialty sushi rolls, one California hand roll, one tuna hand roll, one egg handroll and a side of garlic noodles. Total was about $200 Plus tip. They were kind enough to bring a special dessert for my son’s birthday. We did not have any drinks, alcohol or other desserts.
Although pricier than anticipated it was a really fun evening and I’m glad we chose Onyx for our celebration.
I was seated at the sushi bar and enjoyed one of the best meal ever. The chef was very skilled and entertaining, the fish was delicious and fresh, the staff was very attentive and pleasant. The venue is easy to locate and parking is convenient and free. The hotel and restaurant decor needs a refresh, but it did not bother me.
We have been to Onyx many times. On this occasion we had invited our friends over to have a nice dinner. Service was unusually poor. They forgot to bring our appetizers, main dishes were all mixed up. Kids had to wait much longer than they had to despite us asking their food first. Very disorganized last night l. I hope it is a one off as we love the place and the food otherwise.
This was our second time to Onyx and the second visit was just as perfect. Amber and Emma greeted us when we arrived and welcomed us back along with our guests (my family) - a very nice surprise to be remembered.
Once seated, Jesus welcomed us back and took our drink order, checking in with us on how the drinks and appetizers were once they arrived. Throughout the meal his service was friendly and personable which made for an enjoyable environment, even using our names.
The food was exquisite - especially the Volcano Roll, Black Cod and delicious sides - the presentation was beautiful. They even warned us of mushrooms in the noodle dish as they set it down, knowing my husband wasn't a mushroom eater. They remembered that fact from our previous visit! We will definitely return to Onyx for another incredible meal. Thank you to all the staff who made our dinner so wonderful and memorable.
We ordered the popcorn shrimp (good), the hamachi carpaccio (not so good, I actually left some on the plate and hamachi is my fave), miso soup (yummy), and the miso butterfish (good but I have had better). I also ordered Maguro sushi, California roll, and white dragon roll to go for my Mom, and she said it was good but nothing stellar. The dinner cost $200 with no alcohol. The service was great. The ambiance is pretty nice. We sat outside. The a/c was a little strong for us inside. The people who worked there were lovely, but the quality of fish was not that great, especially for the hamachi. I am not in a hurry to return and still on a search for sushi as good as what I ate in Maui.
The outstanding service and friendly staff are what stood out most to me at Onyx. Also, we loved the seating outside with a lovely view of the waterfall. The food was excellent and timely served. I did not find the inside to be as warm and romantic but great for a family gathering or large group. So in summary, if it's a romantic night out then ask for a table outdoors. I would be a regular here if I lived closer. Most romantic setting I have seen so far in the area.
Pretty good overall, a couple disappointing moments however. Despite asking for a table without a draft, our hostess did just that. When i asked our server if we could be reseated, she pointed to the hostess and said we could ask her, then walked away. Waiter was attentive, though the busboys collar was crooked all night, and he had to be asked to clean out plates. Finally the tempura was undercooked and oily which had to be sent back. The rolls and sake was nice, and the decorations were beautiful. Maybe not wooden chopsticks next time, HOWEVER.
The food as always was delicious. AIMEE was our server and she was excellent. She recommended some dishes and she was spot on. The manager Emma is phenomenal ensuring that all guests are happy without being intrusive. Highly recommend to anyone that enjoys Japanese food and likes great ambience.
Amanda was our server and was absolute perfection!
We asked for recommendations on a Sushi roll. She suggested red dragon and it was s home run!
We asked her opinion about dessert too. We wanted something light . She suggested the coconut bar. It was yummy delicious! We can't wait to go back to Onyx!
Given all the great reviews, we expected better. I think this is a case of trying too hard to be a premier restaurant, unfortunately it falls short in many ways. They have a ways to go both in service and the quality of the food before they can claim premier status.
