Onieals Ratings and Reviews
Local neighborhood gem! Love the ambiance in there with the lights. Good place for a chilly night. Had the short rib with elote. Wasn't my favorite - I wasn't feeling the BBQ sauce on the short rib, but that's my fault - I should've known BBQ sauce probably wasn't a great choice for me. The elote would've been good, but it tasted really sweet for some reason, like there was sugar in there along with the cheese. Not sure if that was on purpose. But my friend liked his meal and the oysters were good! I'd give it another shot!
Great spot. Food was delicious. We had the deviled eggs, fried calamari, the blackened seared tuna, and the spaghetti bolognese. Our friends had the penne vodka and loved it as well.
The one 'con' is not one I would typically mention, but given that we were told it happens somewhat frequently, I think it's worth noting. We all met a little earlier than our reservation and had a drink at the bar. The local DA office was having a happy hour, and they ended up having several of their team members give speeches over the course of 20 minutes. Definitely awkward to sit at a bar and have to whisper while people spoke for 20 minutes. Not really appropriate unless you have a private room.
My friend knocked over his glass of wine & it was cleaned up & replaced before you could blink an eye. The cocktails are cold & the food is delicious. Dinner for 4 with cocktails including tip was $180 & we ordered quite a bit. I highly recommend this Nolita establishment which I stop at every time I am in Manhattan.
Last minute reservation and we couldn't be happier with the restaurant. Very good drink selection, cocktails, beer and wine all had something to choose. Apps, Salad, and main course were tasty. Felt like a local place that you would have on the regular dinner rotation. Will be back when in the area.
This is a lovely bar with a few tables available for eating. We went for the Sunday brunch and we all enjoyed the food. The waffles with fruit were great (two large waffles). The omelettes were excellent as well. Marcus, our server, could not have been nicer.
Cute & Charming
My group of 7 had a reservation for a table this past Saturday. It was crowded, boisterous and loud, but so are we so we fit right in :) The menu in the restaurant differed from the one online and we weren't thrilled with it at first...but it turned out great. The mac and cheese with bacon app was awesome; we got two to share and each were able to have a few bites. Good burgers, the scallops with risotto was delicious and a just-right portion...our table by the windows with all the sparkly lights was cozy and charming.
Very pleasant waitress and other staff. We went for Brunch with a reservation, and was seated almost immediately. The menu had a good selection and we wanted to try everything. Our dishes were delicious and the booze brunch unlimited brunch cocktail option was great. Although the restaurant got a little busy, we never felt rushed. When the bar got busy, they slid a door divider to block off the area a little. It was a very cozy relaxing experience. We'll definitely be back.
This is a busy place, but with the wait. Food was excellent and service was outstanding. They were overbooked so at first it looked we didn't think we'd make it, but they came outside to find us and and let us know they had worked it out. Bought us an appetizer and paid for our drinks because if it.
Interesting menu, had the steak and it was great.
This is definitely a place that is different than I have ever been. There are only like 10 tables in the entire restaurant. The decor is old and the room is sketchy. The menu is limited. Service is super slow. Our waitress was sitting and eating a table with a friend while working. And they also lets pets in the restaurant!!! The food was not bad but there are too many other places to go. We will not return.
The food was OK, but it took almost 2 hours to get our main courses. We almost missed our 9 PM concert, even though we arrived at the restaurant 2 hours in advance. We were pretty grouchy and hungry by the time the food arrived, and we had to wolf down only a small amount of our main courses before fleeing.
Every trip into NYC my husband and I bring our friends out here. It's quickly become one of our favorite places in the world! We recommend it to everyone, people who live inside the city, people who are visiting... Its a gem and we never miss a dinner there.
We stopped for drinks and appys. The appitizers and the wait staff were terriffic! I ordered a margarita anc can honstely say it was the worst I'd ever had. Some well Tequlia a little sour mix in a 3/4 full cocktail glass with an ice cube. Over all I'd go back but most surely order a different drink.
I come here now mostly because it's in a great location, but secondarily for the food and drinks. I really like their sandwich offerings and fries/tots. The service seems to be getting slower and slower everytime I come here, and nobody working there seems apologetic for it. Hopefully this isn't becoming the norm...
Went at noon for Sunday brunch and there were no customers beyond 2 guys at the bar. Stayed because we couldn't be bothered to go elsewhere. Diet Coke was flat, French fries were cold and service was super slow. Having said that the chicken caesar wrap and eggs were surprisingly good - probably because by that point our expectations were fairly low. Wouldn't return.
I went to Onieal's for a group brunch. Our table was ready when we arrived but it took 30 minutes to receive water and place our drink orders. We picked this restaurant because of the two hour boozy brunch, but it too an hour from when we arrived to receive our first cocktail. The food was good and the prices reasonable. It was the extremely slow service that pushed us all over the edge. I will probably not return.
This is my first review through opentable. I typically don't bother unless something was wrong with my experience and this was one of those times. I made the reservation for Valentines day dinner through the open table app and requested a corner table. Simple enough.
I received a confirmation call the night before saying that they will have a corner table waiting for us.... great!
Well, we showed up and the hostess started leading us to our table but rather than a corner table, it was a middle table along the side, in between two tables of four. I stopped her and told her that we had requested a corner table which the restaurant confirmed the night before. She said its unavailable. So I told the hostess that I received a confirmation call specifically stating that a corner table would be held for us. So she went on about how this table would be better than others in the middle of the restaurant. So I pointed at an open table off to another side and she said it was reserved. Interesting... reserved as opposed to our reservation? She said it was a large party taking up that entire side.
Fine, I pointed to another end table and she agreed to allow us to site there. The only problem is that it was near the unused entrance so there was a draft coming through but we stuck it out. Half way through our dinner, I noticed a couple sitting in the table we asked for and I was livid. WHen we were leaving, I made a point to speak to the hostess to ask about it and was told that the large party showed up but ended up being smaller than they planned for.
I don't usually nitpick things but this annoyed me to no end. SO we spent 200 on an slightly above average dinner, while my feet froze from a draft after getting denied our first and second choice of seating. It's the little things that make or break a diner's experience and this little thing will prevent me from going back.
