OneUP Restaurant & Lounge at Grand Hyatt San Francisco
A la carte breakfast menu is pretty standard. Service attentive. Seating for five was not well laid out (chair at the end of a table) even though we had a reservation.
Food and service from the waiters was good to very good. However, unexpectedly, they stop serving fresh breakfast and only breakfast buffet at 11:30 and don't serve lunch till noon. This made our reservations on one day at 11:30 and 11:45 the next day awkward since we wanted lunch. Then the receptionist had the nerve to tell us we had to leave after being there for a little over an hour. I don't remember any indication online or otherwise that the switch over from breakfast to lunch was so awkward and all or nothing. Stale brunch buffet at 11:30 is nothing to be proud of - they should be ashamed! Also, the lunch spot and the adjacent bar have only one bathroom, unisex. If that one is busy one must go down two floors to find an an available bathroom. If I have any other reasonable options in the future I will not go back to this place, despite its convenient location around Union Sq. and decent food and servers.
Server was very nice and prompt but food took a long time
We had breakfast and the meal was very good. Enjoyed my bloody mary too.
Nice location. Had breakfast - it was good & we liked the menu.
We were staying in the Hyatt, so we thought eating at the hotel would make things easier. Easier, yes, but a disappointment in every other way. We made a reservation but when we arrived, they hadn't set up a table for six for us yet. And the place was empty, so it wasn't like they were waiting for anyone else to leave. Then we had to wait a long time for our food--which arrived no longer hot. The poached eggs in our Benedicts weren't runny so it must have been sitting for a bit. And the hollandaise had a "skin" on the top--a sure sign that was waiting too. Won't eat here again.
Nice, convenient location for a business meeting. Service was a bit sub-par perhaps due to changing shifts or late breakfast/early lunch timeframe. No proactive service; had to request coffee refill. Food was just ok and rather pricey.
Great breakfast. Highly recommend! We even received new coffee cups and spoons after our coffee turned cold. This was probably my favorite part, as I do not like when they pour hot coffee over cold because then it’s just luke warm.
It's a perfect place to have an informal but high standard breakfast or meal.
food is fine. breakfast buffett time is not enough
Deeply disappointing. We went on Mother's Day for brunch. We hadn't been to the Grand Hyatt in many years and were looking forward to their beautiful, luxurious brunch high atop the city. We were unaware that the top floor dining room is now gone, and all they have is an unimpressive, upscale "coffee shop" experience on the second floor now. It is small, with no views, barren tabletops, and only a portion of the brunch buffet items they used to carry. The fee was pricey ($65 per person) for rather marginal (and lukewarm) food. The grilled vegetables were bland and undercooked, the asparagus bisque was sweet, watered-down, and tasted very little like asparagus, and the limited desserts ran out quickly and took awhile to get replaced. There were no rolls, bread, or crackers to accompany the cold dishes, only bagels. The hot dishes were wilted-looking and tasting and totally uninspired. Even the coffee was undrinkable! The staff were fine, but didn't have much to do as this was a self-serve buffet. They were not, however, quick to pick up dirty plates or silverware in between courses, and we had to push our dirty dishes to the edge of the table when we return with fresh plates. I am not normally a complainer, but this "special occasion" was such a tremendous letdown that I felt I should warn others for the future! We definitely should have gone elsewhere, like the Top Of The Mark.
So, the manager is absolutely top notch. Can’t beat him. The rest of the staff is great until you aren’t ready when they first come and then you have to flag them down. Overall good for breakfast, horrible for lunch.....despite being more busy at breakfast. Menu is weird for lunch.
I ordered the clam chowder, which was tasty and had clam meats! I also ordered their house special chips--very fresh and delicious. Waiter George was attentive and friendly. Ms. Jina Kim, Assistant Operations Manager, was professional, helpful, and patient in answering questions I had concerning my Hyatt membership. I had a very good dining experience on Good Friday.
We chose to dine at the hotel only due to convenience - BIG mistake. Not only is it so small for the size of the hotel, but there weren't many servers for the customers that were there. It was so loud (compliments of screaming babies and toddlers), prices were crazy for what we ordered and there was just no customer service to speak of. Totally regret going here before seeing a wonderful show later at the Orpheum. Skip it!
Three of us had drinks and dinner here since we were guests of the hotel December 26-28, 2017. The service was lukewarm at best and inattentive. The wine pours we're very skimpy (and expensive for the tiny glass). None of this would have mattered if the food was edible. We are in San Francisco all the time. We usually stay at Hilton or Kympton properties but we had points for free rooms here. The food that all three of us ordered was disgusting. The hamburger platter was charred, dry and unappetizing (burger ordered at medium). The steak dinner was ordered rare. It was medium at best, barely pink and fatty. Truly the worst steak imaginable. The charcuterie platter was a few slivers of meat, a teaspoon of mustard and a few slivers of dry bread. The food took so long to arrive we just suffered through it. From the bar window we could see a CVS drugstore.... where we decided to go and get candy for dessert instead of ordering at the bar. It was the best part of the evening. We are fine dining aficionados. We were appalled at the disgusting food and the service in a hotter like this one. In the decades of our San Francisco trips, nothing has ever been this bad. We'll never stay at this hotel again. There are better choices literally on every corner of the city.
Very disappointed. Ordered a rib eye steak which lacked taste. It came with a vegetable and vegetable sauce. Asked for steak sauce they didn’t have it. Asked for barbecue sauce and they had to send someone to an other place in the hotel to get it. By the time it came, the meal got cold. What kind of restaurant serves a steak and don’t carry a steak or barbecue sauce in the kitchen? Salmon was ok but vegetables were over cooked. Chicken salad was actually pretty good. Deserts were mediocre. Ok as a hotel food but definitely not a “special occasion” restaurant.
Loved the menu but hear it is about to change!
Too bad as it was a find!!
Because we were staying at the hotel, it was a very convenient spot to stop for a comfortable lunch. Interesting lunch concept with 3, 4, or 5 options for a single price for the table. Great for splitting and for light appetites. The portions were a bit smaller than expected but it all worked out beautifully. It was also a wonderful place for breakfast when we arrived earlier than check-in. The servers were very accommodating and that set the tone for a glorious stay at the hotel for the week.
Very healthy food selections. Excellent food and presentation. Quiet atmosphere.
Better than most Hotel restaurants. Also above average wine list. I had the chicken which was a little dry. My wife had a couple of small plates which were pretty good.
My wife and i were planning on having dinner there to celebrate our one year anniversary, however our reservation time only included the lunch portion which i was totally unaware of when i booked it, we were hoping to enjoy your organic chicken along with some of your vegetables and salads, oh well i guess i blew that. Maybe next time.
We had Crab Louis. It was far short of our memories for SF and ,even then, pretty poor.
Food was mediocre, we didn't even receive what was listed in the menu for our meal and the waiter tried to argue with us. We ate there since we stayed in the hotel. Much better to walk 2 blocks for a great meal.
Delicious food. Five star service. Best kept secret for downtown lunch.
Delicious food. Great location. Great service. The wait staff were attentive
Sean was a great guide for the evening. Enjoyed the frisée salad, good sized portion. Sean recommended the salmon and he was right, it was terrific. OneUp doesn't skimp on portion sizes so be prepared. All in all everything was perfect. Thanks Sean.
We came here for dinner tonight aaa convenient and somewhat nice dinner after a long day of sightseeing in SF. It was easy cause it's in our hotel.
Waiter was nice but nothing over the top. Food was very good but definitely over priced. We wanted salads to go with out dinners but a small mixed greens salad with vinaigrette was $8 pp! It was tasty but definitely nowhere near an $8 side salad.
We had forgotten we ordered tater tots until the waiter delivered them AFTER my husband was done his meal. We should have rejected them cause we didn't want them at that point. They were still on our tab at the end. Overall, it was good but not worth the cost.
Absolutely everything we sampled at the Mother's Day brunch was delicious!
Good to excellent food in a very comfortable, relaxing atmosphere.
When I ordered a burger it was clear the server was looking for a bigger tab, the bus person or food runner was much more attentive. I was never even asked if I wanted another glass of wine. The burger was not good and tater tots dry and tasteless. Very disappointed. All I wanted was a good burger and nice glass of wine without leaving the hotel.
Great clam chowder and chicken pot pie. Attentive service.
We stayed at the Grand Hyatt and thought the lunch menu looked pretty good, with the choice to get 3 different items for $16.00. There were lots of options, even enough to make the kids happy. All 4 of us enjoyed every item we had. The tomato bisque soup was very flavorful and the house made chips were very good.
The service was very well, very attentive waiters and very friendly.
For a Grand Hyatt restaurant in the middle of SF Union Square area, the experience was disappointing. A bland menu, not very delicious food, and an run down environment. This location has the potential tonserve as a nice bar amd business dinner place
Nice food and the place is very good for a casual dinner.
We went here hoping for a nice Christmas brunch buffet. This buffet was on par with a rather limited buffet that I could have had gratis at the Marriott, with only the addition of some prime rib and lamb, and lower quality dessert items, etc. Also, when we arrived, my partner being unable to navigate stairs, we went to the elevator that said "Restaurant Access." We hit the button and waited, and waited, and waited! Finally, the elevator came and a couple of guests got off, but the Hyatt Employee on the elevator shouted at us "This is a Service Elevator," and let the door shut on us. She was rude and should NOT be employed by Hyatt and I wish I had her name! We very nearly left then, but the front desk clerk helped us obtain an elevator to get to the restaurant. Upon leaving, it was also difficult to secure an elevator down. Overall, the food was mediocre, the price ($53) was extreme for what we got. Service was efficient enough in the restaurant, but very cold...severely lacking any "holiday cheer." I won't be dining at another Hyatt and being Marriott Platinum won't ever consider taking my premium status to Hyatt if I wanted a different hotel chain. The lady on the elevator blew that singlehandedly!
excellent wait staff very attentive good food at a good price
I had an amazing time at Thanksgiving Brunch. First time away from home for Thanksgiving and the Hyatt made the holiday better.
Service was horrible. Will not use as a business location again.
My husband and I stayed at the Grand Hyatt for our anniversary and decided to try One Up. The food was fantastic! We had a wonderful dinner there and also a delicious breakfast in the morning. The service was also impeccable. We will be returning for sure!
Great place for a quiet dinner - food and service always great
