ONE Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Usually the food is outstanding. However the linguini was really bad. Way too much oil (I mean the bowl was full of oil at the end) - it was basically a clump of pasta that wouldn’t separate despite all the oil. Way too much wine in the dish too. Clams were good but too few. Sorry to say but I love this restaurant and the food and I visit a lot but I wouldn’t order pasta here again. In fact I was shocked how poor this dish was. Sorry but this was a waste of money and not up to the usual great standards of One. Told the waitress too. But I’ll still visit and stick to the dishes I know are always done to perfection.
The atmosphere, food and service were outstanding. We celebrated our 7 year anniversary and I am glad we chose One as our dinner/drink stop. I have never dined in at One, I have only had a few drinks on the patio in th Summer but I will be back again for dinner and drinks.
First time at ONE however we are frequent diners at Chef McEwan’s other restaurants. The atmosphere was relaxed but lively. Not too loud so it was easy to have a conversation. The waitstaff was attentive and knowledgeable. I had the Lobster Spoons to start and my husband had the Eggplant Arrabiata. The lobster was cooked well, the vermouth butter ok - not spectacular which I would have expected for the price. However the Eggplant was fabulous - crunchy with a hint of heat - could have eaten a whole plate of that! For mains, my husband had the Irish salmon which he said was cooked well. I had the PEI beef duo. The short rib was perfect! Unfortunately the filet was extremely rare when I had asked for medium rare. The creamed spinach & carrot purée was delicious so made up for it. Not sure if we would return but only because Chef McEwan does have other restaurants that we do love & have had great experiences there.
We went to celebrate the wedding of my cousin. We wanted to take them somewhere special that they would not usually go and this was the perfect place. The atmosphere was classic, beautiful and upscale. The service was outstanding. Our waitress was attentive, friendly and on top of everything. She recommended mimosas (a very nice touch!) and this really added to the beautiful lunch we had. We were a party of 7 and they sat us at a table that worked perfectly for us. We were all able to talk easily without yelling across the table. The food was truly outstanding. It was really a spectacular way to celebrate!
Excellent food, wine, and service. It’s a shame that people come to such a fine restaurant in jeans and tee shirts. Unfortunately, there was a table of four, loud, obnoxious women close by that everyone noticed. We will be back however, as we won’t let rude people ruin our dining experience.
A very nice place to share a great meal with a friend. Sadly a very inconsiderate man decided to walk around the place having a robust and rude business meeting on the phone while everyone was trying to enjoy their meal. This might be normal though as no one in the place was concerned and the staff ignored Mr.RudeMan. I am a west coast Canadian and this type of behavior is not tolerated by the staff and management.
i really love this restaurant everything is always great but this time we really had a bad service experience. Our server didn't take care of us we had to ask to other staff, she wasn't around at all.We were thinking about evaluating her with a low tip but we were 4 and 2 kids, the server charged us as a party of 6 and fixed tip percentage.
My daughter and I were looking forward to a memorable dining experience in this lovely, intimate neighbourhood. We were seated promptly and drinks came quickly. My Prosecco was flat and not fully chilled. My daughter’s fruity cocktail cost $20. The restaurant was about 10% occupied. We had booked in advance and confirmed by telephone that we would have the turkey dinner. Our waiter was not aware of this, and when he brought the dinner, it had clearly been plated in advance and been kept warm under heat lamps. It was tasty enough, but at the price point, I would have hoped for more than one course. The restaurant was sophisticated but the pony skin on the walls put me off. There were no candles or special floral touches to create a celebratory feel for Thanksgiving. For the price we paid, I feel this restaurant did not provide good value. The service was satisfactory but I expected more. I won’t be returning.
My husband and I come for brunch at least three or four times a year (usually) for brunch - perhaps even more - and typically find service to be excellent. Perhaps it's because of the long weekend, but we both noticed that service was just lacking when we were there this time. First of all, there was no bread service (typically, a staff member comes around each table with a tray of bread where diners can pick which one they want). We thought it was because it was a long weekend and the restaurant was short staffed, so it didn't matter too much. The three things which bugged us the most about our experience had to do with our server. First of all, he forgot which latte was made with almond milk and which was skim - he had to rely on the amount of foam. Luckily, he was correct. He also forgot to punch in the substitute for my omelette (sliced tomatoes instead of the usual potatoes) and it took at least 20 minutes for our bill to arrive. He was also nowhere to be found so we could flag him over. Luckily, we weren't in a hurry, but what if we were?
I travel all over the world for business, and have dined at several Michelin Star restaurants in New York, Chicago, California, Amsterdam, Denmark, and France. This was one of the best 2 or 3 dining experiences I have ever had, and I highly recommend this restaurant. The service was excellent, the ambience was trendy and fun, and the overall experience was absolutely fantastic. I ordered the Asian Style Black Cod, and it may have been the best seafood dish I've ever had. Although this restaurant is 5 hours away from where I live (Ohio), I will make sure to return on my next trip anywhere near Toronto. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
An outstanding fine dining experience. The service was exemplary, with an expected high level of attentiveness combined with a good read of our table to provide appropriate interaction. The meal was excellent: the grilled octopus was perhaps the best we have ever had; the steak in our steak frites was prepared perfectly (although the frites came out only warm - a minor glitch which was corrected very promptly); and the ice cream for dessert was luscious, creamy, and not to be missed. As far as the value rating, it is certainly not inexpensive but it is an excellent value for this type of restaurant.
I reserved ONE restaurant for my boyfriends birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make it such a special night!
Our server Diana was very sweet and attentive, and made very good recommendations. The chef offered an extra appetizer and dessert on the house for his birthday and he was beyond excited about that! Everything we ordered was so delicious! Highly recommend the chicken tacos and truffle fries, the chicken and braised beef mains, and the caramel banana split and the boston cream donuts!!
ONE made our next extra special and we will definitely be back!!
This place is incredible!
We were fortunate enough to have a really nice server that made our fifth anniversary feel special!
Our evening started off with two complimentary glasses of champagne to celebrate the occasion. We're by no means drinkers but this was such a nice surprise and definitely appreciated.
We started our meal with the chicken tacos. They were INCREDIBLE. By far the best chicken tacos I've ever had. Take note Taco Bell! lol
We also had the chicken noodle soup. Our server mentioned that it was a classic at the restaurant so we decided to give it a try. Growing up, eating our moms chicken soup was something we did often so this is probably not a fair comparison. It was OK. Not great but by no means bad.
Our mains consisted of the BBQ short ribs and steak frites. Both incredible tasty and tender. If you're getting the ribs, you probably don't need an additional side dish. The portion was good and it was served with beans, coleslaw and cornbread.
The steak frites was nice as well. Portion was on the smaller side but you can't complain about a delicious steak!
Now on to the star of the evening... truffle frites! Holy cheap they were OUT OF THIS WORLD. I'd go back and just order these (and the chicken tacos). So tasty. So yum. Yuuummmmmm! No matter what you order, get the truffle frites!
We ordered the white chocolate cheesecake to end the meal. It was also nice. The lemon was a bit overpowering but was also sexy delicious. They decorated the plate with a "Happy Anniversary".
Thanks for an amazing (and slightly expensive evening)!
We'll be back!
