One Red Door Ratings and Reviews
Was at One Red Door for my birthday. I opted for the special/Red Snapper. It was very very delicious. Perfectly cooked and great portion. I would recommend this restaurant (and FlipSide) to all my friends in the area. Although I noted it was my birthday on this website and also mentioned it to my server, no comment was made.
My only complaint is that they packed a few too many tables in. Our table was directly next to and above another table, so we were basically sitting next to the strangers next to us; only separated by the iron rails.
The food was fantastic, but we did have to listen to four stranger's conversations.
Two years ago, we said we wouldn’t eat at this restaurant again. The chef had undercooked my salmon. When I sent it back to be cooked a bit longer, he literally lost his temper and threw a skillet (this restaurant features an open kitchen). It was embarrassing. As Hudson residents, we like to support our local businesses and decided to give it one last try. What a mistake. We ordered an entree that was undercooked. Sent it back, it came back a bit warmer, but not worth the hassle. They did offer us dessert, but we declined. I did not recommend this restaurant. Try 3 Palms, one of the owner’s other restaurants, instead.
We read the reviews prior to making reservations and made them with some hesitancy. They were spot on. Awesome atmosphere, over priced but delicious food. I'm willing to accept that fact in today's restaurant scene. However, what will keep me from going back is the mediocre to poor service we received. Our server had zero personality, was unfamiliar with the beer and wine list and not once did he check back on our dinners or entrees. When I inquired if my salad could not be served "chopped", I was simply told no. The salad
was premade at the beginning of each evening. There are to many amazing restaurants in the area to put up with poor customer service.
Our experience at One Red Door started off being not so great, but in the end we enjoyed ourselves. We had a NYE's reservation for 9:30. When we arrived there was no host so there was about a five minute period where we stood at the door. We were passed by a few staff members but they ignored us. The person who seated us ended up being our server, who informed us that the restaurant had sent nearly everyone home because they had been "dead" earlier on in the evening. From there everything was slow and we considered walking out. Once things were rolling, the food was excellent. One complaint is that we were served a charcuterie board without any crackers and had to ask for some. We were given toasted bagel chips. For how much we paid, I feel a bit jipped, but we're willing to give ORD another chance.
We decided upon One Red Door as our New Years Eve Dinner. We arrived early but they seated us right away. The server was very nice, genuine and attentive. The menu had many unique and interesting choices for the holiday. We opted for a trio of nuts appetizer. Very unique! Warm seasoned nuts, a great choice to start the evening. We then ordered salads, which were both huge! Word to the wise: split one! As our main dishes, we settled upon a grouper dish and the Lobster Thermidor. Both were excellent, cooked and seasoned perfectly. The sides were just as tasty. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish and we are looking forward to dining at One Red Door again very soon.
Consistently good food here and our server was great. One area for improvement is that the kitchen and dining area are so close together that there is often an employee or two who is in head-down/busy/production kitchen mode which spills over to diners' attention. I've noticed this each time I've come. Will definitely come back as every other aspect is very positive.
We had a business lunch meeting at ORD. It was very nice, quiet and great service. I had the ahi tuna salad and it was ok. Not outstanding. but fine. my colleagues had the steak salad and both were extremely complimentary of their meals. I would like to go back for dinner and see how dinner stacks up. That was my first time at the restaurant.
We love coming here and sitting at the chef's counter and enjoying excellent food at a good price. We have been here a handful of times and have always been quite pleased with our dining experience. The menu has many great choices done to perfection. If you want excellent dining in a comfortable environment at a reasonable price, this is the place to go.
