Great atmosphere, great service, fantastic food. Expensive but for an anniversary dinner it is well worth it.
All around disappointing experience. This used to be an upscale restaurant-it seems to have declined significantly since I last there. Terrible service, average food, very loud and apparently 0 dress code anymore. The price used tobe justified, but goven tne poor quality of service and food, I would definitely consider it overpriced. Too bad.
Couldn't ask for a more perfect dinner night out on our anniversary.
Fantastic! Great service and a beautiful scenery!
Outstanding. Delicious food and service. Worth the price.
This is the third time we have been to this restaurant. I still feel it is a lovely setting which is very romantic. The food was very good, but not great.....except for the chocolate souffle which was outstanding. A little disappointing was the service from our waiters. At past dinners, the wait staff was very attentive and unobtrusive. This time they felt cold, disinterested, and it was hard to get their attention. And this alone was one of the reasons I chose to come back. Sorry that I didn't get that warm and fuzzy feeling this time.
We’re seated upstairs looking at a painting that was peeling from the wall. Downstairs looked better. Beef wellington was over cooked and wine very expensive compared to London. This place needs a refresh (upstairs) to live up to its good reputation.
We had a wonderful evening. They serve quickly but let us sit as long as we wanted. It’s a lovely atmosphere and food and service were excellent.
Great service, delicious food and wonderful ambiance to celebrate our 40th anniversary. It is expensive, 3-course dinner for two with one drink each plus tip was $318.00.
Ambiance was spot on, but service was awful! For the price and experience you are looking for, I would expect much more. Coming from hospitality industry, this was unacceptable. No knowledge on wine list/menu, sticky glasses with port wine split down them, lobster that wasn't taken out of the shell. For an elegant, high end restaurants we were not pleased.
Having been there just last month and the month before I find a place in consistent. Last nights dinner was terrible. Food was barely passable. Service was spotty. It was 1000+ dollars thrown out. Normally the maitre dam works the room. We never saw her nor the sommelier. Every other time that I’ve been here the chef sends something from the kitchen as with most known restaurants. Nothing. Multiple times we told him that our table was shaky before the desserts were served they finally fixed it. Their signature dish the beef Wellington was not cook the way I specified. When they cooked it as ordered it was dried out leather. The shell of the beef Wellington, the pastry part was more like well done toast. There was more however my time was worth more than the dinner.
The service and decor was excellent but the food was just average
We found this place by searching the most romantic restaurant in NYC. We are surprised it is not the world.
Everything was exceptional except the servuce. It was better than exceptional. Go to New York = go to this place.
Fantastic experience! Staff went above and beyond. Great drinks. Amazing history and food!
Awesome love this place for 30 Years
The atmosphere was warm and deluxe, the service excellent, but the food mediocre, which is a problem when it's so expensive.
This has been my favorite restaurant for years - elegant with excellent service, wonderful food and ambiance. This trip was disappointing. The service team was sub-par. The garlic in the mushroom duxelle overwhelmed the beef wellington. The seared foie gras was not so seared and dessert remained on the plate.
It is a wonderful historic restaurant with a charming and warm ambiance . I would have liked a full menu option instead of 3 prefix options. Otherwise a wonderful experience.
One og by land two if by sea is known for it's romantic ambience. And this is a Nice place. The service by Greta could not be better, extremely friendly and super nice. Just a pity that the food is not Even close to what you get at The Grill (previously The Four Season)
The restaurant sure is a romantic place. But You pay a lot of money for the name of #5 most romantic restaurant. The food was nice, the service was good. But they did forget a glass of aperitive, to adapt the order when we specifically mentioned allergy to mushrooms, spoke very quietly when explainig the course,... These little mistakes gave us the impression that the money we paid was a bit high for the overal experience.
Food was okay and very salty
The service was very accommodating, especially as we were 30 minutes late. However, I do not think the food is worth the price. Considering the menu is prix fix, you would expect each dish to be mastered and well done but each dish I received was underwhelming. I wouldn’t be too upset about it, I don’t expect to be wowed every time I go out to eat, if it wasn’t for the price tag.
An elegant and romantic atmosphere with impeccable service and contemporary takes on classic cuisine.
Nice food if a little overpriced. Very pretty restaurant but didn’t feel “special” and we were literally chased by snooty staff at the end to leave a tip as we wrongly believed it was included.
The most romantic restaurant in manhattan. The experience was more than you could ever ask for. Highly recommend it!
Deserving of its reputation as one of the most romantic restaurants in NYC but beware the Wine List. While there are a few reasonable options you have to work through a lot of what are $15-$30 wines that they mark up 500%+.
Perfect experience in every way. A gem in the xy
This is a “go to” place for a great romantic or just quiet evenin.
Our experience was great from start to finish. All of the staff including, the manager, who greeted us by opening the restaurant door were very welcoming and dedicated to providing us a very nice dining experience. Our dinner proceeded at a relaxed pace which was exactly what we were looking for. The tables were placed at a comfortable distance so dinner conversations did not impact surrounding dinner guests. The ambiance was lovely with tall candles and fresh roses at each table. Numerous candle chandeliers hanging from the ceiling provided more romantic lighting. The wine list is extensive and the menu excellent. Our delicious meals were cooked exactly as ordered. Save room for dessert...
We enjoyed a beautifully prepared and presented prix fixe dinner in an historic location in a fun part of a great city...who could ask for more?
Amazing food. Very much a fine dining experience! Could not fault service at al!
Do not recommend! Worst experience ever ! I’ve never leave any negative feedback in my life ! Food was awful, we returned almost all dishes, service was unprofessional and took them almost 10-15 for every courses ! We asked for our bill before we’d even finished our dinner ! $400 for two ppl, ppl, go somewhere else with that $400 !
The most romantic restaurent I’ve ever been to. Everything is perfect！
I had never been there before. The environment was cozy and the service great. We decided for the tasting menu with wine paring - it was of the charts!! We had a table upstairs, providing us a little more privacy. Despite the amazing dinner and service, the room was a little noisy. He fact we had a group on our side might have contributed. I truly recommend the restaurant, which worth every single moment.
We were a little thrown off at first when we saw how small our appetizers were (the truffle gnocchi, AMAZING) but once we finished dinner were very full. Absolutely recommend coming here. The restaurant has a very romantic feel and our server was amazing!
We dine here every year on our first night in NYC to start our Spring Break vacation. This is our favorite restaurant of anywhere we have ever dined and we have been around the world! Maria (the owner's sister) always remembers us (probably because of our Texas accent) and she makes sure we get the same table overlooking the beautiful courtyard year after year! Orchid the bartender will take special care if you at the bar! We began our night with drinks at the bar in front of the fire being entertained by the piano player. Dinner was an amazing experience! The service was impeccable!!! The gnocchi was cooked to perfection! My husband had the fish and it was very flavorful. I had the beef Wellington and it was amazing...flavorful, tender and a huge portion. We finished the night with delicious dessert and coffee. If you want the absolute best dining experience you MUST dine here! The location is beautiful, the service is unmatched and they will treat you like totality!!!! We give it a million stars!!!!
Great atmosphere with delicious gourmets.. highly recommended
This really is the most romantic restaurant in NYC! Delicious food, warm ambiance. We loved everything about our experience here!
