Our experience was great from start to finish. All of the staff including, the manager, who greeted us by opening the restaurant door were very welcoming and dedicated to providing us a very nice dining experience. Our dinner proceeded at a relaxed pace which was exactly what we were looking for. The tables were placed at a comfortable distance so dinner conversations did not impact surrounding dinner guests. The ambiance was lovely with tall candles and fresh roses at each table. Numerous candle chandeliers hanging from the ceiling provided more romantic lighting. The wine list is extensive and the menu excellent. Our delicious meals were cooked exactly as ordered. Save room for dessert...
We enjoyed a beautifully prepared and presented prix fixe dinner in an historic location in a fun part of a great city...who could ask for more?
Amazing food. Very much a fine dining experience! Could not fault service at al!
The most romantic restaurent I’ve ever been to. Everything is perfect！
I had never been there before. The environment was cozy and the service great. We decided for the tasting menu with wine paring - it was of the charts!! We had a table upstairs, providing us a little more privacy. Despite the amazing dinner and service, the room was a little noisy. He fact we had a group on our side might have contributed. I truly recommend the restaurant, which worth every single moment.
We were a little thrown off at first when we saw how small our appetizers were (the truffle gnocchi, AMAZING) but once we finished dinner were very full. Absolutely recommend coming here. The restaurant has a very romantic feel and our server was amazing!
We dine here every year on our first night in NYC to start our Spring Break vacation. This is our favorite restaurant of anywhere we have ever dined and we have been around the world! Maria (the owner's sister) always remembers us (probably because of our Texas accent) and she makes sure we get the same table overlooking the beautiful courtyard year after year! Orchid the bartender will take special care if you at the bar! We began our night with drinks at the bar in front of the fire being entertained by the piano player. Dinner was an amazing experience! The service was impeccable!!! The gnocchi was cooked to perfection! My husband had the fish and it was very flavorful. I had the beef Wellington and it was amazing...flavorful, tender and a huge portion. We finished the night with delicious dessert and coffee. If you want the absolute best dining experience you MUST dine here! The location is beautiful, the service is unmatched and they will treat you like totality!!!! We give it a million stars!!!!
Great atmosphere with delicious gourmets.. highly recommended
This really is the most romantic restaurant in NYC! Delicious food, warm ambiance. We loved everything about our experience here!
From the moment we waliked in we were treated like honored guests. The food was fabulous. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The ambiance is absolutely lovely. It made for a memorable evening.
Maria did us justice!! Great anniversary dinner!
In a lovely setting but, the food was thoroughly mediocre and expensive. A pet peeve of mine when I'm paying $100 plus cocktails is to be charged an additional $4.00 for coffee....really? BUT, there is a lovely fireplace and a piano player so I'd recommend it for drinks by the fire before dining elsewhere
Amazing food and beautiful spot. Would recommend for a special occasion.
Fantastic food. Historic location. Excellent service. Expensive, but worth effort for special occasion.
Phenomenal atmosphere - great service, food, portions. Perfect for special occasions.
This is the second time we celebrated a special event here. Not disappointed. Good service without hovering or being annoying.
It was a Saturday night and the place though crowded never seemed out of control. We ordered the 7 course tasting meal, didn't need to but we did. I get that it is a tasting menu but some of the portions were a bit small but everything was tasty. Didn't like the foie gras croquette but it did have flavor. I would have been happier with just a piece of foie gras! The rack of lamb was excellent but small, again taster menu issue. The scallop was very good and I don't like scallops. The beef wellington, supposedly is the restaurants signature dish, was not great. Thought the crust was doughy and not flaky. Service was superb. I don't think it was a "very good" value but it was better than good? All in all I had a wonderful night and would go back again for the lamb.
Amazing food and spectacular service!
Sadly was very disappointed. Place was half empty so had no atmosphere. The staff were cold and unfriendly with no conversation or particular concern when husbands beef was not cooked to how he asked. Food was average and expensive. Scallops to start were delicious but mains and puddings were just ok. Very sad to of spent $370 on dinner for 2 and leave with total disappointment.
Always heard positive reports about the restaurant -- tried it -- and can only state that it is "OFF THE CHARTS" both food and ambiance.
Amazing experience. Food was spectacular and atmosphere was great. The piano player, fresh roses and long stem real candle just completed the whole thing. Anyone going to NYC must try this hidden gem. Soooo worth it.
Excellent food and environment for a date. I would recommend the Beef Wellington.
Beautiful and romantic setting. Fresh roses and candlelight dinner was set very nicely. Enjoyed sitting fireside with a glass of white wine waiting for our table. Tables are nicely spaced, so no one is on top of each other. Downstairs was louder than upstairs. Service was impeccable. Big plates, small servings. We had a 3 course price fixe for $150. Beef Wellington was one of the best I ever had. Super tender and very tasty. Wife's lobster with risotto was cooked to perfection. Scallops were perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. Crab salad was tasty with a nice citrus tang to it. Dessert and coffee to follow was very good. The apple pastry was just ok. Apple could have been sweeter. One funny observation, when they brought the cappuccino, they brought sweeter to the table, but sugar was absent. They brought organic sugar in the raw separately after I asked. I guess a sign of the times. Overall, a very pleasant experience. One note, if you park across the street it's cash only, regardless of what posted. The rates are also posted clear as day so there's no discrepancy on the prices. We parked for 3 hours and it was $74 with tax and oversize fees.
The overall experience was superb! The atmosphere was delightful, the food was delicious and the staff was professional and attentive!!
Perfect meal with beautiful snowfall over the courtyard
Exceptional service, food choice and ambiance. My wife had been there nearly twenty years ago and had loved every minute, it was everything she remembered and even more.
I would recommend a visit if you want to impress a girlfriend/boyfriend or to celebrate a special occaision.
Delightful evening. The mean was delicious. Perfect for a special birthday celebration.
Wildly overpriced, very plain and uninspiring food. A dinner for two will run you close to $500. It is a romantic restaurant but you will be sitting very close to other couples and it gets very loud. At this price point I expect a magical experience and this leaves one wanting much more.
The best romantic restaurant I’ve ever been. My girlfriend was very happy for the surprise I made for her, doing a reservation here. Keep up the good work!
Everything was amazing and we would definitely recommend to anyone looking for that special place to go.
My husband & I came here for Valentine’s Day. The ambience is perfect for couples, very romantic and charming. But the food is only okay. Definitely not worth the price we paid. I think I’d recommend going for a drink, but skipping dinner here.
Everything perfect about this place!
Food mediocre at best. Ambience would have made the experience better if we weren’t placed in an add-on room to the side of the main dining room. Service was awkward, hovering around our table continuously. The restaurant lost our umbrella and the hostess showed no hint of apology for it. Dessert was the only redeeming factor.
This truly is a wonderful dining experience. Everything was perfect. Food, ambience, the service - it lends itself to the perfect night out. Truly the most romantic gem in NYC.
Way over priced for the meal - prefer to eat at Eleven Madison Park in the bar, it’s the same price but way better food!! However, it’s a pretty set up so there’s a cost associated with this aspect...
This was our first dining experience here and I must say I was very impressed. The ambience was unlike anything I have ever seen, amazing. The food was great. I had the signature dish known as the "Beef Wellington". The staff here is very nice and friendly.
The food was exceeded all expectations, and the service was prompt and top notch!
If you want to have stomach pain you should come here . The food tastes so bad, the presentation and taste disgusting. I was can’t believe it it’s was over priced and everything what we ordered with my friend it’s was hard to eat. Even we was so hungry. I was can’t wait to leave this place. And interior on photo much better than in real life.
Amazing place. Went there with the wife 20 years ago and it is just as good now as it was then. It's our special place. Love it
This is a lovely restaurant. Beautiful setting indoors and a lovely small courtyard garden to view while dining. The food was delicious and service excellent. It is a pricey restaurant so I would recommend it for special occasions.
