The restaurant is beautiful and romantic. The history of the building is also very neat and posted inside the menu. We did the chef’s tasting menu and the pasta course and beef Wellington courses were absolutely amazing. The fish course and smoked salmon appetizer were good but not incredible. Dessert was a very yummy chocolate soufflé with ice cream. The price point was a little higher than some other tasting menus we tried on this trip. Overall we were glad we went once.
Dinned at this location about 25 yrs ago. Nice to see that the excellent ambiance has remained the same. We surely will visit again
Very romantic. Wonderful tasting menu. Only issue is they were “out” of the wine pairing for the tasting menu and the waitress did not bother to recommend a bottle. Not a very personable experience. That said, they noted it was our anniversary and gave us complimentary macarons at the end.
Service was excellent - the waitress was attentive but not obtrusive. The service was excellent overall. However the fish on the prix fixe menu was actually spoiled. Not just bad tasting, but actually spoiled. The waitress kindly replaced it with another dish, but the fact that spoiled fish was actually served, especially given the cost of the prix fixe menu ($125), is unacceptable. This was my first and last visit here.
The atmosphere the service and of course the good was impeccable . The desert was decadent
We went to One if by land two if by Sea for our 10 year anniversary dinner. We thought it would be the perfect ending to our fun filled day in the City where we saw Hamilton. We could not have been more correct. When we arrived at the restaurant it was next to a bustling pub and we weren't sure where the entrance was, it was very unassuming. When we found the door and opened it the ambiance was impeccable, dimly light with candles everywhere, a piano player playing wonderful melodies. We were greeted by the nice host who brought us to a private table. The atmosphere is so romantic. They seemed delighted to help us celebrate our anniversary. We even received a special treat from our families at the dinner and they were so gracious and set that up for them to surprise us. The food was beyond delicious, I got the pasta and the beef Wellington. My husband got the scallops and the lamb. We shared a side of potatoes. Our meals were presented beautifully and the tastes of all the flavors in your mouth was delectable. I was so stuffed by the end of the night I couldn't even eat all of my dessert or the sweet anniversary treats they presented to us after dinner. All in all this is a fabulous place to celebrate an occasion and we would love to go back.
Lovely place lovely staff …whole thing was delightful however the famous beef Wellington was bad and frankly the taster menus of a poor quality. This chef is just not good. So great place but meh food.
Was hoping for exceptional food.
We had another great experience at OIBL. Great tray of oysters to start, then everyone enjoyed their enteees, appetizer and dessert. Service and bar are excellent.
Amazing experience. The ambiance was classy and romantic and the inside of the restaurant is just too cool - it is like a well kept secret hideout. The food was delicious, we had the scallops, foie gras, branzino, and beef wellington with a side of the truffle mash - all superb. The service was also great - I thought they forgot it was my girlfriend's bday but they gave us a whole separate dessert plate with macarons and a candle. Overall, I highly recommend for a date night or special occasion.
Amazing food and atmosphere.. very cozy restaurant.
Muy hermosa experiencia en la que pudimos degustar increíbles creaciones culinarias como el cordero, el pato y el Beef Wellington... Super recomendado. Linda música con un piano...
I came to this restaurant as it was our anniversary and I wanted a romantic place to go.
We were seated on second floor , so away from piano and from the garden view.
We were in the passage of waiters and I was afraid of moving y arm away from the table and getting bumped .
Food was not phenomenal. It was good, not good to the price.
But overall it was still nice they brought a place w happy anniversary written and some cookies.
Maybe we come back and try seat at a table on first floor…
The waiter was super friendly and nice ! He was the best!
Food was very good. We had the tasting menu and everything was enjoyable except the main course. My beef Wellington had a soggy pastry wrap. My wife’s halibut and accompanying beans were bland and almost tasteless
Absolutely amazing experience. Everything about this restaurant was perfect
The restaurant is beautiful and definitely good for pics, but the food is quite disappointing. The crust of beef willington is so damped and ocpcpus tastes overcooked...
Celebrated the 2nd yr anniversary here last night with my partner, everything's perfect from the atmosphere, food and Jessicq gave us a wonderful service she is very attentive to our table and to others table as well
Food was good but not great. I have had better in Brooklyn’s (Bay Ridge) top restaurants.
such an amazing restaurant! we will def be back for more !!!!!
Great restaurant and story. Way too expensive to have a hole in my cloth napkin and toilet seats that were very loose. Embarrassing. Small stuff, but if you’re going to charge the prices you do, EVERYTHING should be impeccable!
Very nice place. Wonderful attention and very good food and drink
Loved this restaurant. Went here for me and my boyfriend's 1 year anniversary and it was the best dining experience I've ever had. So romantic and the food is amazing. 10/10
Service was outstanding. We had to wait 5 minutes for our table so the manager got us a seat near the fireplace and gave us complimentary drinks from the bar. Very unnecessary but a very nice gesture. Table service was extremely warm and timely. The waiter helped with swapping out a dish on the tasting menu and with finding a replacement wine when our selection was not available.
The tasting menu was delicious right up to the fantastic chocolate soufflé.
The restaurant has never looked better and was warm and romantic — perfect for our anniversary dinner. We intend to return!
lovely ambience. Very $$$$ Delightful experience . Yes, I'd recomend as a very special night out place.
Everything was what we hoped it would be, beautiful ambiance, delicious food, great service.
great place to celebrate special occasions; loved the tasting menu; will have to come back and do the wine pairing with it.
wait staff is attentive; food is delicious; cocktails were creative
Absolutely romantic af, loved it
This restaurant makes no bones about the fact that they are first class and expensive. I did think it was a bit chiseling to charge an extra four dollars for the cheese plate dessert (dessert included) that consisted of three small pieces of cheese that were just ok. Beef Wellington was great, scallops appetizer was awesome. Service was great.
Very nice venue. Highly recommend it.
Beautiful, historic space that has an old New York elegance. The food is solid; it's pretty traditional as opposed to creative (i.e., Beef Wellington, Tomato Gnocchi, etc.) but it's preparation is excellent. Definitely recommend the restaurant for a special occasion and/or romantic evening out.
Everything was great, but the food is not worth the price. It was not bad but you expect better.
Excellent food [love that beef Wellington] in one of the most beautiful, romantic settings in NYC.
Odd to have been seated at a table for 4-6 people with a reservation for 2.
Slow unnatentive service staff, food overpriced for what it was
went with my girlfriend for her 25 birthday . it was greats she loved. romantic place . perfect for couples . love it overall.
Went for our anniversary. It’s the most romantic restaurant I’ve ever been in in NYC. Beef Wellington was amazing!
Wedding Anniversary. Amazing service, food and experience
great spot will be back and will recommend
Anniversary dinner, perfect atmosphere! Candlelights, and an attentive server. We sat upstairs in the corner, which was perfect for private conversations. We opted for the 7-course chef tasting menu with wine pairing. Delicious! Highly recommend.
