We had the chef's tasting menu paired with wine and it was amazing! Quiet inside since we are still dealing with COVID which was perfect. Excellent way to spend our 20th anniversary!
It was a phenomenal experience, and I really appreciate the special dessert for my girlfriend’s birthday. Our waiter was so nice
Very enjoyable. This restaurant is located in an old carriage house with lots of history, including a connection to Aaron Burr.
The prix fixed menu has many choices in both the appetizer and main course sections. My guests & I ordered different dishes for each course and shared them.
Foie gras appetizer was expertly cooked: moist and delicious. The octopus app. was also very tasty and grilled
Correctly. Not chewy at all . For a main, I had the beef Wellington, which was served medium rare as ordered. Tender, juicy beef was excellent. I just wish that either a bearnaise or Demi glacé sauce was included. The branzino and gnocchi were also outstanding. For dessert we sampled the chocolate souffle, the pastachio dessert and
The creme brûlée, all delicious. The service was spot on. They also have a very impressive wine list with a large selection toon of wines by the glass. I’ll be back the next time I’m in nyc.
I highly recommend this restaurant. It is truly an amazing experience to have with family or a loved one.
Birthday and Mother’s Day
Excellent for Mother’s Day! Amazing food and hospitality!
I really liked this restaurant. I came there for my birthday celebration. When I arrived I could tell it was romantic. There was piano music playing the whole time.
I was placed next to a couple of other people. When I sat down, I immediately got asked what type of water I wanted and got served my choice. I had to wait a while before the waiter came back to serve us, because there was one waiter for five tables. When the food did arrive, it was really good. The food was in small portions, but eating the appetizer, entree and desert was filling.
I also had a glass of Chardonnay which was really good. They ended up giving me an extra desert with Happy Birthday written in chocolate which I thought was really nice. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant.
Very loud environment not romantic in any which way. Food was not of good quality neither tasty, the amount of money your spending on dinner the food quality was horrendous. Service was horrific waiter rushed us as if he wanted to get us in and out. Ambience was relatively fair but not romantic in the least bit of way. Best part of dinner was desert which was subpar. Overall the experience doesn’t equate to the amount your paying for dinner. Highly highly NOT recommended. Your better off going to your local diner than going to this restaurant.
We made a nostalgic visit to "One If By Land..." for our return to NYC dining, post-pandemic. Very comforting to find it healthy and thriving. The dining room was almost full. Food was very well prepared if not particularly adventurous. Service was friendly and efficient. Dining room was beautiful. First course was the best, a velouté of winter root vegetables garnished with crispy shallots. Classic and delicious. All our entrées were very good, if somewhat undistinguished. Of the three deserts we ate, the little chocolate soufflé with homemade chocolate ice-cream on top was a bit bland, though still lovely. The one off-note was our bottle of wine, an insipid French rosé that tasted like pink water, which — because we were surrounded by fancy vintages in glamorous glass cabinets — felt doubly ironic for a restaurant of this caliber.
So happy to be back after pandemic. Bar has just reopened and the food was as wonderful as we remembered! Thank you!!
We celebrated our 25th anniversary here and it was perfect. Excellent food and service. It was the perfect special occassion location.
I am already book the set before three week and tell them I need a good set but they didn’t pay attention for my request but overall still good
The menu is limited. Their cocktails are superb. Service is good but too formal.
Food is great! Loved every course of our dinner. However didn’t like the fast pace of serving, we were done within 1 hour with 3 courses of dinner. We felt that it was very rushed. This type of restaurants usually provides a well paced service which makes dinner as an enjoyable experience. First floor sitting area is definitely much nicer than the second floor. Didn’t like the second floor as much as tables were too closed to each other and it’s a very narrow room.
Beautiful ambiance, great service and amazing food
Literally the best restaurant I have ever been to.
Incredible experience! I came here to celebrate my one year anniversary and it was the perfect romantic experience. Bonus they remembered the special request I put in and presented us with a celebratory dessert. And food was excellent, lamb tagine and grilled octopus were delicious.
Everything was absolutely fantastic.
Love this stalwart restaurant in the heart of the West Village!
Excellent dinner for our 10th anniversary. Staff was super attentive and the food was delicious. The pineapple cake dessert was incredible!
Food overpriced. Ambience was nice but I could get much better food at a quarter of the price
The wife really loved this place. Dont get me wrong it is expensive. But if you really want to wow your partner and dont mind spending $300-$500 then this is the place to do it. Just do her a favor and be sure to pick the package where uou.can sit in front of the fireplace since it gives you more of a private setting. The food looks to be made by a chef of sophisticated taste and the overall ambiance is just perfect.
I brought my high school crush here for her birthday after 10 years of being apart and it made the reunion so much sweeter. The ambiance was beautiful. It was the most perfect intimate setting for us and I truly value the care to attention and detail from every drink ,dish, decor and tabling.
I’m most grateful for the care in which we were treated. It’s so common as male of color to be treated other than in high end restaurants and it wasn’t the case here . I was treated with the utmost respect and the vibe was right.
I can’t wait to return here one day for something even more special 😍 stay tuned for more adventures . Much love to the chefs and wait staff.
Great for special occasions and the word romantic is an understatement. This place is truly the most romantic restaurant in NYC. Service is impeccable and they treat you like a king or queen. Definitely suggest for anyone who wants to be wowed by ambiance. Food was pre fix menu, it was delish but needed some more variety. Overall, pricey but the Customer service, ambiance, dining experience is well worth it
The Beef Wellington was excellent.
The ambiance was not what was expected from a supposedly romantic resteraunt. The tables around us were very loud, noisy, and obnoxious with zero awareness of others. The food was mediocre: the duck was chewy and over cooked, the lamb had too much fat on it and was also over cooked, the scallops were over cooked and had a chewy rubbery taste, and the brownie was ‘deconstructed’ without it being said in its description. The pistachio dessert and burrata were the only dishes that were if satisfaction.
Always absolutely marvelous in every way, including excellence in service and quality! Sandra
Most amazing experience ever! The ambiance is beautiful and so romantic, makes you feel like you've been transported to a movie set. The food was impeccable and the service was just as perfect. The food came out in such a timely order. Everyone was so nice and wished us a happy anniversary. This was hands down the best experience I've ever had in a restaurant. The food was delicious. I would recommend everyone to come here.
We went on Saturday to celebrate a 50th birthday. The ambiance is very nice. Mane of the tables overlook the garden area. Our drinks were delicious. The food was very good. However, nothing was served hot. It was not cold but nothing came to the table piping hot. Which struck us as odd because all the food came out very fast. Overall the experience was fine. I do not know we will be rushing back here to celebrate another occasion. On a positive note the cocktails were excellent.
Always great service and good food at this most beautiful establishment. We were a little disappointed that they did away with the Chef’s tasting menu, but accommodated us and still served it. Hopefully they will bring it back with new items for the summer. The standard price fix menu is delicious but we occasionally enjoy the tasting menu.
Wonderful experience and great food. COVID protocols were good and overall ambiance was still exceptional!
The most romantic restaurant in the city. Amazing tasting menu!! Best beef Wellington.
Overall experience was very good. Food was delicious but overpriced. Cocktails were good with a great extensive wine list. Ambiance was amazing & servers were great!
I had such a great time! From the food to the service I mean true definition of fine dinning! Definitely, a spot for celebrations and great memories..
I recently proposed at the restaurant this past weekend. The staff and manager, Arlind, went above and beyond by accommodating me in every way possible. The service was phenomenal, the food was amazing, and the professionalism overall was unmatched! They made our special night one to remember and will for sure be revisiting soon! They are great with events and dining overall! Highly recommend! Thank you again to the whole staff and managers who made this happen!
Beautiful as always. Such a wonderful place for a special occasion.
Amazing fun, romantic ambiance, everything I read online about the feel was accurate. Great time
