We got there and the restaurant was not even open. Several others were in the same boat.
I proposed at this restaurant after doing some Google searches, and it did not disappoint at all. My fiancee loved the ambiance, we were nestled in a private corner - per my request to propose, but we still saw the amazing Christmas tree, lovely chandeliers, and lights in the garden.
The food was amazing, the steak was fantastic - I only wish I could have paid more to try the Beef Wellington as I have heard good things. The desserts were some of the best I have ever had namely the cheesecake and mousse.
Finally, I was able to sneak away, give the ring over and they bought it out on a bed of rose petals. It looked incredible, romantic, and was a total surprise to her. She said yes, and the whole night was magic. I intend to go again when I can afford to and try more delicious food.
My only negative is that there were only 3 delicious fingerling potatoes with my entree. They were perfect, crunchy, light and a pinch of salt. Just wish they threw in a few more. Lol
It is our wedding dinner and can’t express how much we love it. Best experience I’ve ever had in a while. The tasting menu with wine pairing is truly phenomenal.
Birthday dinner...amazing experience we will return
Perfect setting for a romantic dinner. Tried the tasting menu with the wine tasting. Service was impeccable. Will definitely go back and try the prix fixe.
Always great food and fantastic service. Love this place especially around Christmas with the big decorated tree in the main room.
Incredible experience! Great for a special occasion. Worth the hype!
Most romantic restaurant in NYC superb service and delicious food, doesn’t get much better than than that :)
We had the chefs tasting menu. Half the items were good and the other had weren’t. Disappointing for such an expensive meal.
Food and service and ambiance all spectacular - 10/10 recommend what a nice experience
Had the most romantic experience! Candlelit dinner with the Piano being played beautifully in the background.. what more could you ask for! I highly recommend dining here during holiday season, the interior is decorated so beautifully. The food was outstanding. My boyfriend and I will definitely be back!
Mediocre experience starting with no sign for entrance at the door. We had a party for two tonight and we are very exited for this place ( seeing pictures on internet)
Foie grois terrine .... was just a piece of duck liver cook on the flat tap without any salt, the bread was from 2 days ago ( very cheap bread ) the salad was just a open bag mix salad bought from the deli on the corner.
Sea scallops .... polenta with any flavor, the corn ..... ufff... was dried (old)
Second courses
Lamb shank ... bunch of couscous ( probably cook at the microwave, the sauce very sweet ( I don't know why ) and the vegetables ( half carrot, half zucchini and one Brussels sprouts just boiled in water ....
Branzino dried with some sweet spaghetti squash ( In Jackson Heights you can find better dish make at the corner.
Guys I spent 280$ and I had a same food from Peconic Hospital from Riverhead , what A SHAME .
We have been to One if by Land several times and it never disappoints. The food was just as amazing and the service as lovely as always, even during Covid restrictions. Highly recommend.
Amazing food and ambiance, just super pricey.
Food was subpar and looked like the food I would cook at home. Ambiance is cute but absolutely not worth the trip.
The food was excellent, as usual, and the service was impeccable. The only thing missing was the piano player, but that was understandable.
Always a spectacular experience. The tasting menu is delicious with perfect portions. The wife and I love this place.
Amazing as always.
Had a yummy meal! Food was good, ambience was great, history was seeping. Too bad it didn't save our relationship.
The food is to die for. It's amazing. The service was so so. They were out 3 wines and beers I chose to order off their list which was disappointing, but very understandable with Covid. I will definitely dine here again.
Simply Amazing!
Definitely a must try restaurant if you’ve never been! Can’t wait to go back!!
This restaurant is simply hype and feels like a tourist trap. It is a very cool historic building and definitely a beautiful ambiance. The food is sub par ESPECIALLY for the price tag. We did the chef’s tasting w/ wine pairing and for $300 per person including tip and a drink before dinner, this needed to be one of the best meals in all of NYC. It just wasn’t and honestly didn’t even come close. The halibut and beef Wellington were both very good but everything else was sub standard. They offer 3 ports during dinner which is typically unheard of and just didn’t work with everything else. I would expect a lot more from a restaurant boasting these kind of prices. I have no problem paying for an experience and great food, but this place misses the mark completely.
My boyfriend and I were celebrating an anniversary and could not have had a better evening! We chose the chefs selection with wine pairing, which was exquisite! The food is amazing only to be matched by the incredible service! We travel a lot internationally and this experience was a top-five for us, we will absolutely be back!!
I’ve heard so many good things about this place. Yes it is romantic and very unique. Place is beautiful.
But the food wasn’t worth it for me. Maybe it’s due to Covid, because a lot of places I’ve noticed gotten a bit worse with food. It was my first time visiting so I can’t compare.
Overall if you’re looking for a super romantic date and you’re both madly in love, it’s worth coming here.
I got the tasting menu and wine pairing. Overall, the food was bland, but the timing of courses and wine pairings were good. I don’t think I would return. Additionally, I had very poor service upon arrival (requested outdoor seating). There were only 3 other tables in the entire establishment, and I was blantantly ignored by servers until I went inside and requested an indoor table.
Beautiful as ever and food was very good but for the price they should
Have better bread and
Simply the best ambiance in the city. Maria is welcoming and warm. This place should be on the top of your list.
We had such a nice experience. Great service, great ambiance, great food. I felt like I was away for the night.
Food, ambiance, service - were all top notch. Only thing that bothered us was that we are brown people and were first to be seated in the upper level - even though there were plenty of available spaces in the main level. And as the night progressed, four other groups were seated in the upper level - all non-white. And since we had a view of the main level, we noticed that there were no non-white party seated in the main level. We sincerely hope that this was just a coincidence and not the norm.
The food was great, service was very attentive, and the atmosphere was incredible. COVID makes fine dining tough, and they could have done a better job setting the expectation early.
Proposal dinner
What a beautiful restaurant; lovely ambiance. First time here and would definitely recommend to others. They have lots of space inside for distancing. You do, at the moment, have to do a prix fixe which I did not realize. But the food and drinks were great, the service was great.
Not interested in supporting outdoor dining, diners indoors were coughing, felt unsafe.
Been going to OIBL, TIBS for 30 years. I must say, regrettably, its not what it once was. See private note.
Great night. Place was awesome. Service was top notch and the food was outstanding. Definitely a romantic place.
It was amazing experience. Thank you
Still one of the best rooms to dine at anywhere in the world. Hasn’t lost its charm. Not as fancy as it used to be which is both good (more approachable) and bad (doesn’t quite feel as special), but still great nonetheless. Glad they are making a go of it through this ridiculousness going on in the world and hope people support it. Not sure how many more iconic locations we can afford to lose in NYC. Will be back soon.
Amazing !!
Great restaurant. We used to frequent years back, then fell off our radar. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely return. The beef Wellington was off the charts. We were seated outside- due to Covid, it was beautiful. The only thing they should fix is stop the homeless from wheeling through-- I understand its a sidewalk but really not a great addition to the overall ambiance. We will be back!
