Historically significant building in the west village, cozy, candlelit, piano music, attentive service. The only flaw, the food. $155 for 3 tiny courses but the real problem is the prep. The Wellington (signature dish) was marinated for seemingly 3 days which made for an odd & tough tenderloin. Nothing else on the menu was remarkable either aside from a decent dessert offering. The chocolate & crème brûlée were delightful. Bottom line, if in NYC pass. So many better options.

The setting is lovely and it's worth a lot to find a quiet restaurant. But the waiter and maitre' d hovered a little too much and it seemed a little intrusive. The beef wellington looked beautiful and was huge but the texture of the meat was strange. The taste was good but I wouldn't order that again. Still in all a very nice experience over all

This was our first time at One it by Land Two if by Sea. We booked it to celebrate our elopement in Central Park. Words cannot describe how delicious our meal was. First, they had a beautiful bouquet of white roses and rose petals on the table when we arrived. They also brought us complementary glasses of champagne. The meal itself was out of this world and truly one of the best meals we’ve ever had. My husband had the New York strip, and it was the best he’s ever had. I had the octopus as an appetizer and the rack of lamb for my meal and both truly were also the best I’ve ever had. If there were 10 stars, I would give it 10 stars. Thank you to the staff for making our day so special!

My criterion when I evaluate a restaurant is whether I would go back a second time. In this case the answer is no. There were several issues First, they offered us seating in a dark part of the room where we could barely see one another. The preferred tables were reserved for other customers who had not yet arrived. They did seat us in a different section that was somewhat better lit. The prices of everything we ordered were inflated. After being charged $155 for a 3 course meal we were charged $12 for a bottle of sparkling water and $12 for a cup of tea. I was given an option of either English Breakfast or Earl Gray. I asked for the Earl Gray and was served a cup of peppermint tea without the lemon I requested. A glass of Sancerre was $21. The food was no better than average. My Beef Wellington was served well done when I requested medium rare. My wife’s rack of lamb was “okay”. Appetizers and dessert were very good but the main course was a disappointment Finally, the recommendations for the tip included the tax in the calculation. This was stated clearly on the check but the tip should be based on the cost of the food only. Service otherwise was very good, the room was beautiful, and there was live, lovely piano music that added to the romantic atmosphere. In sum, the food was not a good value and I felt that the additional charges were excessive.
