One Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Our first visit to One Bistro. The place was quite busy for a Saturday night and we were seated at a table adjacent to the kitchen pick up area. Not great. Noisy with a constant stream of waitstaff picking up and delivering meals. I guess you can't be too picky with a last minute reservation on a Saturday, but still, it was as if they set the table in the middle of the walkway because they had to honor an Open Table reservation. Like the scene in Goodfellas, when Henry goes to the nightclub with his girlfriend and the host puts a new table adjacent to the stage because the place is full... except this wasn't a stage...
Anyway, back to the review - the service was excellent. Michele was tops - attentive, friendly and made our evening. The food was okay. Two appetizers of Medallions over arugula were fine, French Onion soup was thick with melted cheese, crab cakes were nice and the 5 oz. Filet was very good. The specialty pizza - fried calamari - was interesting. Thick crust with no apparent sauce - cheese and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar - it would have benefited from either a marinara dipping sauce or marinara right on the pie... shared the bourbon bread pudding and our son had the chocolate molten cake paired with creme brulee - both were very nice. Limited wine list with prices a tad higher than we like to pay...
Overall, it was an okay experience - I think had the table been a bit better (i.e. less traffic and noise), our experience would have been measurably better.
We will likely return, but calling to ensure that we don't end up with the table by the kitchen.
Nice looking restaurant and chose it based on the high reviews, but overall disappointed for the price. Calamari appetizer was very good. But- One friend ordered chicken parm that was burnt. My filet ordered medium came out well done. My husband ordered flank steak medium and it came out red. No one wanted to complain so we just picked at it. Apple pudding dessert was good, but server forgot to put in the cappuccinos, so we never got them. Maybe they were just having an off night, but expected much better...probably will not come back again.
For brunch for birthday. Reservation was lost after receiving confirmation. Had to rebook the night before. No mention of birthday to the birthday girl. I Asked for a grilled English muffin. It was put on grill dry and burnt. Over all I would rate experience a 9 of ten. We will be back as overall ,food, service and atmosphere are very good.
OneBistro is pretty decent fare for a hotel restaurant. Contrary to the projected image, it is not fine dining or anything, but it shouldn't try to be. The clientèle is largely people staying at the hotel and those who work near it. Also, it can get rowdy around the bar and TVs showing sports. Anyway, the food is okay. The appetizer, shrimp egg roll type things, relied too much on the sauces. If you like spicy, you'll like them, but they were too much for my taste. The spiciness was hiding the small amount of shrimp in there and mediocre vegetables. The scallop dish was pretty good, but the bacon cubes were not cooked properly: blackened on one side, rubbery and undercooked on the other. It was busy, but not THAT busy. Burger was cooked correctly but had a little too much liquid for the bun to handle. Passable fries. Lastly, the desserts were great. Heavily recommend the bread pudding.
One Bistro provides good bar bites and comfort food with a creative twist. Located in Norwood, MA, along U.S. Rte 1 in the Sheraton Four Points Hotel, it's a good restaurant for lunch or dinner. The basket of cranberry-grain bread with sweet butter is more than worth the visit!
The food here is always good. The service was a great!
The only real complaint we have is that we were seated in the bar area which is very loud. There were other seats available further in the restaurant . We could have asked to be moved but when were seated it was not loud - by the time our meal was served the bar was busy and loud.
One Bistro is my go to restaurant especially for business meetings. Everyone there is quite friendly and attentive and the food is excellent. The location is comfortable and you can easily carry on a conversation without noise or distractions. Thoroughly enjoyable!
There were a few issues:
1st Outside door was locked, had to wait for someone to come out or walk back to hotel enterance and enter that way.
2nd There were multiple wine lists but we were given the smallest one. We ordered a bottle we didn't know and didn't feel it met its rating. We asked to order a different bottle and were given a different larger list. We ordered a new more expensive bottle and were happy with it. The restaurant was good about it but I truly don't understand why we had to wait to see the main list.
The waitress was great. The food was very good. The presentation was fine.
3rd The restaurant notified Open Table we didn't show for our reservation. Clearly we did. I don't believe the hostess listened to us when we walked in. We told her about the door, and who we were and that we had a 6:30 reservation.
It's a decent suburban hotel restaurant. Went on a Sunday night, most of the crowd was there post Patriots football game. There was nothing bad about the food, but nothing memorable. Our waitress clearly wanted to be somewhere else. She wasn't terrible, but certainly not good. Had to ask other waitstaff twice for her to take our order. No apologies on her end. It was a decent meal that I'll forget about next week.
We had dined there before and had an excellent meal.
Ordered the same dinner and was very different. Too much spice was added to the steak which overpowered the flavor. Also very hot and spicy sauce which overpowered the flavor of the sea bass. Disappointed that it wasn't consistent.
Made reservations for 2 ( bar seating option) since this is a popular place bar seating was tight. Jemo, the gen. Mgr. was the comsumite professional, got us a drink and before our first sip got two spots at the bar. Food and service by a friendly professional staff- we could not have been happier. This place is a hidden gem.
I went with my husband for the lobster fest special. He was very disappointed with his dinner. Stuffed lobster was full of stuffing and ONLY 1 scallop! There was NO shrimp at all in the stuffed lobster. We mentioned this to our waitress and we got no response or feedback. The chowder was good, along with the potatoes. The corn on cob was dry & soggy. When we got dessert (because he was still hungry), the waitress didn't even ask us if we would like coffee or tea. Will not be returning there again. Very disappointed!!
This is my go to place whenever I am meeting a friend (or friends) for lunch. You can always count on an excellent meal, great service, and very reasonable prices. The restaurant sparkles from the glassware on the tables to the decor on the counters and walls. And even though I am a frequent flyer and know their menu inside and out, the daily specials that are offered are always creatively different and fabulously delicious. Kudos to the entire staff from the manager, to hostess, to waitstaff, and chefs.
Unfortunately I came for the lobster fest and was very disappointed. The clam chowder was excellent but there the meal went down hill. The PEI clams were shrunken to almost nothing. The lobster stuffing tasted fine but the actual lobster meat seemed over cooked and rubbery especially the claw meat. The legs seemed empty of meat.
The reason I didn't give the food one star was the filet my wife ordered was excellent as was her cup of clam chowder.
Another wonderful dining experience at One Bistro in Norwood. I met a dear friend for lunch at 11:45. We started with a shrimp cocktail that was very flavorful. Our meals were perfectly timed. I had my favorite Boston Cod, and my friend had the Rueben Sandwich. The food was plated with care and looked as nice as the food tasted. Our waitress, Nell, was attentive to our needs yet respectful of our conversation. When we were done, I ordered a nice hot cup of fresh coffee and we chatted some more. Never once did we feel rushed. It was 2:30 by the time we left. What a lovely afternoon from beginning to end. I am always recommending One Bistro to family and friends...it is almost impossible to not enjoy brunch, lunch, early bird dinner, or an elegant dinner at this beautiful restaurant.
Anniversary night out - but not one of the best meals we have had at One Bistro. The mixed seafood grill (special) was tasty but dry and over cooked, The shrimp scampi was long on pasta and short on shrimp which were also slightly over done. Service was very good. Notwithstanding, we'll be back for sure.
