I really dislike giving bad reviews.
Pro: decent service, the table was ready at the reservation time. Sourdough bread was good. Margarita was good and my friend's wine was decent.
Simple lettuce salad was good, they make a lemon+oil dressing which is very good.
Con: 1. I ordered pasta puttanesca which was the only vegetarian dish available. The pasta sauce was mediocre at best. I had a better pasta at honest pizza joints.
The pasta itself was okay.
My friend ordered foie grass which was good and a lobster risotto. The lobster was somewhat rubbery ( I didn't try it).
I ordered coffee which was of a mediocre quality. My friend ordered an espresso which was worse than mediocre.
The bill came to $170 or so for two people.
We also shared a large bottle of St. Pellegrino water.
Never disappoints. The food is creative and extremely well prepared by people that understand food. Nice bar great wine selection. The service staff is a choreographed friendly and competent group. We avoid Friday and Saturday dinners as it can get noisy. Have been going for years and hope for many more years in the future.
Three diners, two excellent meals, a $38 burger, and pork chop and one over cooked Monk Fish buried in muddled looking room temperature sauce, with dry cold burnt toast. The house special drink had no taste, no discernible or indiscernible flavors except for grain alcohol, I do not recommend that drink.
Food was outstanding. While server was friendly, never told us the specials, never asked if we wanted a second drink. I did not enjoy sitting in direct path of side door- very cold every time it opened, which was several times during out 1.5 hr dinner. Our second visit to the establishment, and just feels too crowded for my comfort. Maybe I would try again only on a slow night just because the chef is so talented.
Perfect for a business lunch for two reasons, first the staff briefly explained the specials, and then after they delivered your order they left you alone. No interruptions, yet if you needed something they magically appeared. Second, it was quiet enough to have a conversation. Will return again
I put in the notes we were going to the show, and it was read by the host, which was nice. We were early on a Thursday, so it was fairly empty when we got there, but filled up by the time we left, which is nice to see on a weeknight.
We split the grilled Caesar as a starter - a good twist on the classic. I had the rabbit ragu over pappardelle which was heavy on the pepper, but very, very good. Date had the fish special which he inhaled. Shared Supersized warm cookie with ice cream was a perfect ending. Delicious all around and looking forward to returning.
Food was really good. We both had the flounder with spinach. Salads interesting. Service was OK, but waiter was serving too many diners to be very attentive. A couple of very loud parties detracted from the evening. A large party in the the downstairs function room overwhelmed the kitchen resulting in a very long wait for their entree by the table of two next to us. Parking lot is cramped and too small for the full restaurant. The overflow lot is not very convenient.
We scheduled our dinner for 5:15 following a show and I made a mistake in the reservation on the date. The host handled the problem very nicely and was able to seat us in the restaurant because of the early hour, though the restaurant was fairly booked. The menu had a variety of choices including some season ones. My friend ordered the salmon, which was done to her specifications and was very nicely presented. I order the jagerschnitzel fro the seasonal menu and was very pleased. It was very lightly breaded and served with a tasty mushroom gravy, spaetzel and red cabbage. It was very flavorful and beautiful in appearance. We shared a delicious coconut cake for dessert.
My spouse and I have been here a few times, and it's always a good meal. Portions are a good size, the tastes are excellent. Love how they use local whenever possible, and the seasonal menus. Service is great. Only drawback is how cramped it can get in the main dining room. We were seated next two large groups. It worked out fine, but it's tight.
Food was good and very inventive. Service was OK until the restaurant began to fill, and then it was slow. We were a table of 3; the table next to us was 2, seated after us. They finished and had paid their check while we waited almost 15 minutes to get our check. The noise level was not conducive to conversation unless we spoke loudly.
This is my favorite restaurant in the Princeton area. The food is exceptional, services, staff always great and friendly and bar area is wonderful. Craig is an awesome bartender who I’ve known for years. My favorite meal here is the Porkchop which I get blackened and it is the best Porkchop that I’ve ever had. My friend tonight got one of the German pork schnitzel specials which was exceptional . This place never disappoints.
We were there to celebrate the birthday of a friend and got a nice round table in the back which made it possible to talk to everyone.
We shared starters and that worked perfectly; staff got us plates and came with good suggestions. The food was nice the wine too and the little details they did at dessert for the birthday lady was a nice touch to a great diner.
