Have dined here several times over the years but on this occasion the food was far more impressive than before. Service is unhurried and friendly. Recommended.

One53 has an amazing wine list! Craig the bartender is the best. The food is delicious and they can make gluten free items since I have celiace disease. This is a great place for a date night or an evening with friends.

We chose One 53 for a very special occasion based on a previous dining experience. It did not disappoint: the food was excellent, the service was friendly and professional and the ambiance was a perfect mix of understated elegance with a welcoming neighborhood feel. On a Wednesday evening the dining area was not so packed that we couldn't enjoy a quiet, intimate dinner. The menu offered a good selection of appetizers, main dishes and desserts to create a special dining experience. Whether you eat at the bar (which we've done before) or in the dining room, One 53 will be an excellent choice for a special occasion.

The April specials were fresh, vibrant, and cocked to perfection. Their specialty cocktails are always a hit. This place is always unforgettable. Happy I got in when I did, because there wasn’t a spot in the restaurant soon after I arrived.

We started with the cod fritters which we light and good, 3 to an order. I wished they were a bit creamier in the middle than lumps but the flavor was good. We were in agreement that we wished they had some sort of aioli or tarter sauce served with them. The Nantucket bay scallops were the BEST scallops I’ve ever had. Having spent most of my summers in those waters that says a lot. They were bathed in the most perfect beurre blanc citrusy sauce. Cooked absolutely perfectly, not rubbery as those small scallops can so easily become. The crab bucatini is back in the menu and loaded with crab. Another favorite. Really delicious.

Ate here once before and thats why I returned. This time however was a much different experience. The place was jam packed and very noisey. We had reservations and were seated very quickly. The tables were packed in so clise that the hostest had to move the table to get into the seat. Im left handed so my elbow was knocking the persons elbow on the table next to us thats how close were. Seemed like they were concerned with adding more tables in a space that couldnt handle it. Im sure there has to be a code violation. Asked to be moved to an open table that wasnt occupied and haf more space onky to be told they couldnt move us. So the hostest had to move the table again disrupting the dinner of the couple next to us so we could leave. Yes we left. Getting outside realizing that the valet did not park my car having it on the side with the windows open while it eas raining was the best part. I will not recommend this place.

This is our 'goto' place to celebrate special occasions. Food is consistently wonderful no matter what you order and the service is terrific - attentive but not obtrusive. Would highly recommend One 53.

My husband and I looked forward to a new special, roasted suckling pig, only available one day per month. It was delicious but the portion was very small. A choice of two desserts was to be included but the one my husband chose was “already gone.” A couple seated a few minutes after us ordered the pig and was told “ there was none left ,” and it was only 7:30. That couple was upset and left. We spoke to the owner as we were leaving to convey our disappointment and he he said that they didn’t plan well for that evening. He did not apologize or do anything to make up for less than adequate dinner. We will not return.

Excellent service and meal. Generous portions (we're having our leftovers for dinner this evening). I had indicated birthday via Open Table when making the reservation, and to my delight, they brought my wife's dessert with Happy Birthday written in chocolate, and a lit candle to boot. Definitely will go there again. Parking lot is also a plus.

Hamptons & Manhattan prices...but who serve's bagged french fries with grilled Swordfish? The place has the ambiance of a McDonald's with less table space.

I have eaten at One 53 many times and am always extremely pleased with the food and service. I would highly recommend the restaurant for excellent food, great cocktails, and a good wine list. There is always a nice variety to the menu and specials, so usually everyone can find something they like. The only negative things are: the restaurant feels crowded when full as the tables are close together--I would not recommend for an intimate meal. There is also a fair noise level when the restaurant is fully booked. Aside from these two things, overall the food is prepared with lovely fresh ingredients and the staff is super friendly.

Server was great. The meal itself was very good. I should have skipped desert. It did not measure up to the meal.

Had an interesting experience. The hostess brought a couple to sit at the table next to me and my colleague. The woman in the couple took one look at us and said she did not want to sit there and wanted to be seated elsewhere. The hostess, like my colleague and I knew exactly what was going on. The hostess gave the woman and her companion a seat at the bar rather than giving them another table. I would definitely return to this restaurant.

I love One 53. It never fails to deliver great food and atmosphere. My family goes there for birthdays and anniversaries and whenever we are looking for a special meal.

One thing: I ordered the Almond Joy for dessert, and it wasn't the way I remembered. There was a drizzle of chocolate with a scatter of roasted almonds, clearly pulled from the freezer.
What I remember from previous visits, however, is dessert of freshly scooped coconut sorbet, freshly and generously drizzled chocolate sauce, and a scatter of roasted almonds. So I usually request extra roasted almonds.

Meal was excellent! My first time there and really very pleased with the overall food experience. the duck main course and calamari (grilled) appetizer were some of the best preparations I've had!
Seated in back corner was less than desirable but food more than made up for "ambiance"

Food was extremely good, however, for the price (which I am unconcerned with) I feel as if the tables should not be that close together. There should be more privacy and the tables are a 8 inches maximum away from each other. Definitely would have been 5 stars if table set up was Better. Would still come back but not as often, eno terra down the street same prices food a little better and table set up much better.

Based on other reviews, I had high expectations for the restaurant that I chose for an anniversary. The ambiance was nice, and the noise level was pretty low, given the crowd. However, the tables were crowded, especially along the far wall, and getting in and out was like working a finger puzzle. The wait staff didn't help, so we were left to move tables ourselves to accommodate ourselves and neighbors.

I had a chicken dish that sounded great on the menu (in some kind of wine sauce), but was disappointed to find that it was something like a quarter chicken with bones, in a bowl with lots of liquid. It made it very difficult to cut the meat. It was fairly tasty, but then again, it was chicken.

The wines were very expensive. A 9 ounce glass set me back about $18, and the wine was just okay.

The dessert I had was great - an apple tart. My wife had a cookie with ice cream, which turned out to be tasty, but too much.

Glad to have had the chance to try it out, but will try someplace else next time.
