ON20 Ratings and Reviews
When we made reservations online, there is an option special request and we did, we came here for our anniversary celebration we requested a table by the window, when we arrived the hostess sat us a table in middle of the room instead and stated first come first serve..?????if we’re walking in we absolutely understand but we made reservation, we choose this restaurant because of their location ‘on 20’ and now we talking of the food, the stater menu is terrible the mushroom soup is just a clear soup with two pieces of some sorts of mushrooms swimming in it, the poached eggs, the oysters and caviar is yikes and over priced, I giving 2* because the. Wine selection is good and the service at the table was great, overall I would not come back here again or recommend to friends, very disappointed customer
This was our second visit to On20, and we ordered the Chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings. Amazing food and wine! Creatively prepared and presented. Each offering was exquisite! Favorite wine was the 2012 Riesling paired with cauliflower soup. We will be back!
This was our third visit to ON20. Mike, the maitre ‘d was gracious and friendly as has been our experience previously.
The food was lovely, but would suggest something to accompany the beef, such as small potato preparation. And a more expanded menu would be a plus.
But all in All it’s a lovely experience, fabulous view and a restaurant where you can actually carry in a conversation. Most places now cater to Millennials, with hard surfaces and small tables. So nice to dine at an “adult restaurant”
Delightful dinner at ON20. We were treating our friends and wanted to take them someplace special, ON20 certainly filled the bill. Excellent professional service, with maitre’d’s help in seating us at a table with a spectacular view that would accommodate a wheelchair. The food was terrific & we loved the new decor. Elegant, yet comfortable .
While the restaurant is very old school and classy, great views as well, extremely dissapointed in the food. My fiance and I have been wanting to go here for some time and everything was just bad, the appetizers, the main courses, and the deserts. Service wasnt the best either. Bill was around $250 and was the biggest robbery ever, awful stuff.
My fiancé proposed to me at this restaurant, it was absolutely beautiful, the service was amazing. Taylor was our waitress and actually knew exactly what my now fiancé was about to do, she kept it calm and friendly. I literally had no clue what was about to happen, afterwards she and another gentleman named Mike came in to congratulate us on our new engagement. They went above and beyond for us, we dinned in a private room with a view of downtown hartford, food was great and well prepared... overall one of the best nights of my life and most memorable, thanks to the staff and our waitress Taylor.
After rave reviews, we could not wait to spend our 40th anniversary at this fine dining restaurant. The views are beautiful and the decor is elegant and very comfortable. Our complaint was the portion sizes were extremely small (my watermelon salad had minute pieces of watermelon - 3 logs the size of half a hot dog and 1 mm size pieces for the rest.) and the pork chop was OK - a bit overcooked and with no sides (unless you count the 1 Tablespoon of potato comfit) We have eaten at fine dining restaurants all over CT and were not expecting huge portions, but this was not even close. They didn't even have any sides on the menu to order. For the price, it was not worth it at all. We left hungry and went somewhere else for apps. The server was pleasant, but was she NOT trained for fine dining. The evening was disappointing given the reviews we read. Would not return.
From the moment my daughter and I walked in we felt so at home! The service was absolutely amazing, the ambiance was spectacular, and the view was breathtaking. This isn't typically the first restaurant that comes to mind when dining with my 5 year old daughter, but we wanted to share a special evening together, and boy did ON20 deliver! The food was delicious and the wine pairings were genius. The Chef came out and greeted the guests, and gave my daughter and I a tour of the kitchen. The level engagement and service from everyone was incredible. I could not have asked for a better experience and we were both so happy we chose to spend our special night here!
Had a business luncheon here - firstly, the view is spectacular from the 20th floor! The food selections were wonderful - we had the fluke and the cucumber mosaic. Both apps were delicious and delicate. I had the petite beef which had a wonderful salsa verde base and was cooked perfectly medium rare. My colleague enjoyed the Torbot which looked gorgeous in presentation, and he mentioned it was perfectly light and crispy. The chef sent us some desserts out, the deconstructed carrot cake being the star of the show. The roasted strawberries were wonderful as well.
All in all a wonderful experience. Parking and getting up the the restaurant is a time-consuming process (we parked in the parking garage, walked up one level to an elevator that went to the 3rd floor, then had to catch another elevator across the lobby to get up to the 20th floor where the restaurant resides). Service was excellent; attentive and detailed.
Very impressive in all ways - have picked up right where they left off w the talented jeff lizotte and now have a talented jesse powers - food was cooked brilliantly
- very well presented
- lots of creativity in flavors and textures for all courses
- cheese plate selection was outstanding
- dining room is aethestically pleasing as is the floor to ceiling window view possibility of the downtown skyline
We decided to try ON20 for the Hartford Restaurant week. The ambiance, service, and overall experience was wonderful. It being restaurant week, the menu was had many more options than other restaurants that were participating. The food did not blow me away, but was overall pretty tasty. It was all beautifully plated though. The drink/cocktail menu was pretty great too. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a special night out.
I have been going to On20 for many years. The new chef, Jesse Taylor, lives up to and enhances the reputation of this fine restaurant with his menu and his presentations. First, let me tell you that I love this place because the tables are spread apart and the restaurant is quiet enough to encourage conversation. Two, the view is spectacular. You are on the 20th floor of the Hartford Steamer Boiler building, with a fine view of the Connecticut River. Three, the menu is interesting without being weird - Always a lot of options for a variety of palates. And, lastly the service is unsurpassed.
Truly one of the top restaurants in the state. Go and experience it.
Another strong ON20 outing. Went for lunch & wasn't aware Taste of Hartford was on -- very nice menu and Michael as usual there to greet us, guide us through wine selection and support the serving staff. The redesign looks good and the view is as scenic as always, but the food yet again was excellent -- tried the Fluke Crudo, Sweet Corn Veloute, Striped Bass, Berkshire Pork Chop, and the "Carrot Cake" & Chocolate Pot de Creme.
