My wife and I are professional chefs and look forward to the few times we actually get the opportunity to go out together and enjoy a good meal that we don’t have to prepare. We are from Manhattan and new to the area but we were recommended to On20 from a few people and we were looking forward to it. After reading the bios of the culinary staff we were excited to see the menu and unfortunately it fell very flat. The most upsetting part of our night was when the lamb entree that we ordered medium rare arrived very undercooked as seen in the picture(it was closer to raw). Not rare, but raw. The bread was also burnt... We’re all about crusty bread but this was a little too far.
Service was mediocre and food was fair. Room for improvement since cocktails and wine list were good! I was expecting more and on20 fell short.
Excellent service, wonderful ambience and amazing views. Only negative was portion size of the entrees. I'm not a 'big' eater, and I understand that fine dining is characterized by smaller meals, but this was almost a joke. The food tasted fine.
What a wonderful dinner. From taking our coats to coffee and dessert. Perfection!
I ordered the venison which was perfectly cooked, an appetizer and a dessert. The view over Hartford was very scenic. Waitstaff was friendly. However, one really needs to order three courses to get a complete meal. The main dish was almost bare with only the venison and red cabbage. I alerted the waiter that I cannot eat unpasteurized foods but was still served a raw oyster as an amuse bouche. There were no vegetarian main dish options. I would come back again for a special occasion to try the tasting menu, but would not make this restaurant a regular go-to.
Always the top choice for a special occasion event
Food and the service were superb. Jesse put on quite the show for my friends and they have been talking about ever since. We will be back!
Spectacular food with creative blend of flavors. Small portions though, for the price. Impressive cocktails, wine list and craft beers as well. Beautiful views of Connecticut River and the downtown area including I 91. Great service and friendly staff.
Great service! Very limited food menu. Beautiful Location!
Service was appalling. Asked to explain a dish the waiter confessed that he hadn't tried it and knew little about it only that "customers seem to like it". Unacceptable for this caliber restaurant. Also, our main dishes (the ribeye special) were horribly undercooked and under seasoned. We sent them back. Did they prepare a new dish. Nope.; they stuck what was there under some heat for a bit and sent it back out. Unacceptable for this caliber restaurant. We've been to ON20 several times and the last three times have been disappointing to say the least. We will NOT be back.
We have been here a few times over the yrs. mike was super nice. But service was terrible. We had three courses and it took an hour between each course! For fine dining this is unacceptable. After completing each course, it took a while for someone to take away the empty dishes. Was the restaurant short staffed ? Our waiter had to bus a table. When we wanted to order desserts he hastily dropped the plates and seemed short with us. It doesn’t take an hour to cut cheese and prep one dessert!
Entrees and desserts were delicious but the raw celery root app was one of the worst things I have ever eaten.
We won’t be returning sad to say.
VERY DISSAPOINTING. Terrible service for an overpriced meal. Left without drinks (water or cocktails) for 15 minutes two seperate occasions . Waiter was flustered ,miserable, not helpful and cold.
There was also a couple who were having an outright argument at their table about their personal problems in which the woman was talking so loud we felt like we were part of the conversation. A manager did not intervene or apologize but it pretty much went with the theme of the night “A Terrible Experience”. I will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone and will be reaching out to the manager to express my complaints!
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE
Service a tad slow, especially the drink service. Food of it usual good quality.
It's been a number of years since i had been to ON20. In fact it was under another name then. A wonderful and elegant restaurant. The view is spectacular of course but the whole experience was wonderful. Service was a little slow but i believe they had a wedding reception going on. It was so nice we didn't want to be rushed anyway. Highly commend.
Gracious wait staff, spectacular view from skyscraper location, tasty & elite cuisine. Presentation was gorgeous, as you might expect at this level of restaurant. Easy parking in the building's attached parking garage, with validation from the restaurant. Upscale and classy.
If money is no object, you could never get tired of eating here. If cost is a factor in your restaurant choice, then this is not an everyday option; but on20 would be an excellent place for birthdays, anniversaries, or other big celebrations. Would make a very special location for a wedding rehearsal dinner.
Wonderful early Valentine's dinner. Terrific venue with exceptional staff and gourmet food.
We went to ON20 during Restaurant Week. We loved everything put in front of us. We thought for sure that we would not be able to finish it all but somehow even the dessert plates wound up empty. This restaurant is definitely a step above; the ambiance is impressive. The staff alone were all friendly, professional and efficient. Make reservations well in advance for a special occasion.
Went for first time during Hartford restaurant week. Food was delicious, service friendly and professional. We enjoyed the evening.
Food and drinks were very good. Service was great. Ambiance was great.
Went to On20 with my boyfriend. We live downtown and never knew about it until I looked up unique places to eat in Hartford. More than impressed with what we experienced. Great service, beautiful views, and romantic enviroment.
We had been looking forward to trying this restaurant after hearing great reviews for a long time. We were very disappointed. The food was fair, did not come out hot, some would say very small portions. Service was friendly and good. You get a nice view of the city. We were told they had a new chef. I do not recommend.
Was somewhat disappointed hat they were only offering the taste of Hartford menu. Short rib was a little dry.
Ambience nice, however the service could better...
Decor is dated. Feels like old folk’s home cafeteria. Food was ok. Service a bit slow.
Desserts were the highlight of the meal. The dinner was good, but nothing too special. The desserts were out of this world though. Would go back just for dessert
My brother and I had one of best duck here.
The presentation were lovely.
When we made reservations online, there is an option special request and we did, we came here for our anniversary celebration we requested a table by the window, when we arrived the hostess sat us a table in middle of the room instead and stated first come first serve..????? Well if we’re walk ins we absolutely understand the policy 1 st come 1st serve but we’ve made reservation, we choose this restaurant because of their location ‘on 20’
and now we talking about the food, the stater menu is terrible the mushroom soup is just a clear soup with two pieces of some sorts of mushrooms swimming in it, the poached eggs, the oysters and caviar is yikes and over priced, I giving 2* because the. Wine selection is good and the service at the table was friendly, overall I would not come back here again or recommend to friends, very disappointed customer
The food and the view are the best in Hartford. You can't go wrong here whether its business lunch or evening affair.
Fabulous 5 course new years dinner.
This was our second visit to On20, and we ordered the Chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings. Amazing food and wine! Creatively prepared and presented. Each offering was exquisite! Favorite wine was the 2012 Riesling paired with cauliflower soup. We will be back!
This restaurant is different and has great views. It is perfect for quiet anniversary dinner.
Holiday staff lunch
I visited the restaurant for celebration of my wife. The food and service were wonderful. We chose prix fixe menu and the combination of food from appetizer to dessert was great.
And also the view of connecticut river from the restaurant is great too.
This was our third visit to ON20. Mike, the maitre ‘d was gracious and friendly as has been our experience previously.
The food was lovely, but would suggest something to accompany the beef, such as small potato preparation. And a more expanded menu would be a plus.
But all in All it’s a lovely experience, fabulous view and a restaurant where you can actually carry in a conversation. Most places now cater to Millennials, with hard surfaces and small tables. So nice to dine at an “adult restaurant”
Always an interesting menu, Michael and his team are friendly, professional, and prompt.
A great experience
It’s been a while since I visited On20. The menu changed to more upscale which was good to see. Meats and sauces were good as usual. I think adding more vegetables to entrees would work to their advantage.
Beautiful restaurant and fantastic service. Food excellent with on point presentation
It was our first visit to ON20, it is a beautiful restaurant with excellent staff and delicious food. We’ll be back!!!
Excellent food and service. Our view from our table was amazing!
