Visiting from out of town and had a free night before planned activities started.
This place looked interesting and was near our hotel.
The young lady hostess was a treasure. So sweet and friendly. The wait staff was pleasant and adept.
The “restaurant week” tasting menu was delicious. It was a lovely meal, elegant, yet relaxing.
The service was pathetic for a fine dining standard, 1 guy ran all around served at all the tables, no one asked if food came out good, in fact in 1.5 hours we were only served drinks, starter and main then were asked to wait until after fireworks, which was to start in 20 min. Rudest of all, someone called prior to our arrival to say we will have to leave by certain time as they are fully booked for fireworks and then later their service was so poor we ended up watching fireworks from there. They didn’t even give us a window seat, there were 2 vacant up until 20 min prior to fireworks. If they are charging everyone equally then why not give seats on first come basis. Overall I went there to celebrate my hubby bday but server was not courteous to even wish him happy bday after knowing. Forget about expecting a good dessert. Most fine dine restaurants the experience is different and they make you feel special. They had nothing to offer. They charged us 20% gratuity for a party of 2 for this pathetic service, also nowhere stated or told. Although Food was good, some art work there but their menu is very limited and portions are very small. They served us a regular menu where starter and main dish was $11 each but they charged us $75 at the end. Our server didn’t say anything regarding that at the start. Also included was a dessert buffet for which we had to wait almost an hour as fireworks was starting in 20 min and we had to self serve after that, who self serves in fine dining restaurant. The point is you can keep whatever price in the restaurant but your menu and service should be up to that level.
What a superb experience! Certainly the best fine dining spot in the Hartford area, combined with excellent service and unparalleled views of the Hartford skyline and the Connecticut River. It's a destination worthy of not only special occasions, but lunch, dinner, and even happy hour!
Great food, service and wonderful ambiance!
Excellent restaurant! Lovely atmosphere, outstanding service (Christine), very, very good food and wonderful receptionist (Veronica). Truly enjoyed our dinner at ON20!
Overall nice experience. Tasting menu was just that, a tasting. The number of courses were fine, but the quantity was very small for each tasting course.
The food is very good, but I object to a restaurant adding a 20% service charge, which is not a gratuity, and not disclosing that in advance on the menu. The service charge does not go to the wait staff, so it is not a gratuity. I tipped the waiter. It is not customary in Hartford to add a service charge, and I felt as though I had been held up. If they want 20% more, then they should add 20% to their prices. I was very disappointed with this practice. It ruined an otherwise satisfactory experience. I will never eat there again.
Food was exemplary and matched by the service. I wish I could hire a couple Daniels!
Wonderful ambiance. The experience was wonderful. Service outstanding. The Chef's Choice menu with wine pairing was outstanding. We will be repeat visitors but will probably order individual items from the excellent menu. The only confusion was that of the 20% "service charge". I had "assumed" from the small print at the bottom of the menu that it was a 20% gratuity, which is what my wife and I generally provide to the wait staff for great service. On20 needs to be specific on its menu with the 20% service charge and what it is (or is not). We ended up leaving an additional gratuity to the staff and I m not sure if I was "cheap" as it was an additional 10% over the total bill. The staff did an outstanding job and I really would like to know if they were adequately compensated for their excellent service.
It was a great venue and the service was superb!
Our overall experience could have been excellent if our waiter liked us or was having a better day.. We didn't let it ruin our night, and still tipped generously. All other staff, food, and table setting were so great!
Compliments to Daniel and crew who make ON20 one of the finest dining experiences in Hartford, if not the finest dining experience in Hartford. Staff go that extra length for special festivities which is always appreciated.
The entire staff took such great care of us and the food was extremely fresh and flavorful. It was my daughter’s 15th birthday and they made a point of calling her by name all evening. The evening views of the city were beautiful too so all around a terrific experience!
I went for Mother’s day excellent menu and service. The view was stunning!
A very special place for a special occasion. I can’t say enough about the entire experience. We tried 4 of the 6 apps, entrees and desserts. So pretty much the majority of the menu for the evening. EVERYTHING and I truly mean everything, was phenomenal. The food, service, ambience was all over-the-top. Nothing pretentious. Our waiter explained each and everything item being served. Truly a special evening that will be long remembered. Oh, and the view is grand!
We went to celebrate Mother's Day. The view was stunning, the atmosphere was calm and the service was perfect. The food was amazing, delightful and a treat to explore. Highly recommend to anyone celebrating a special occasion, or who just needs to treat themselves to a stunning meal which will leave you happy for days.
Very nice, but over rated. Portions are incredibly small for the price and the service is very slow. Not worth the hype.
Phenomenal. The quality of the food and service is outstanding; best in Hartford. There is little to nothing around the area to compare to. Treat yourself to a trip to this place.
We most likely won’t be visiting On20 again. The first time we went about 6/7 years ago, it was an amazing experience. If you had dietary needs/restrictions the chef would accommodate you with a custom menu and the food was amazing. Now the portions are smaller, the food is still good, but not to the caliber it was. It seems the chef is relying on rich sauces and attention grabbing ingredients to attract customers. The truffles on a risotto appetizer we were served tasted like cardboard. The wait staff member did not even attempt to get more information from someone about the beer selection, and simply parroted what she has been told, unable to answer the question we asked. We were stuck in a corner by the bar for the second visit in a row with a view of the highway. A very disappointing meal, skip On20 and save yourself $150. They also presumptuously included 15% gratuity on our bill. We did give feedback on the way out, and were given a gift card for our experience.
Awesome restaurant. Excellent service. Savory courses. It is highly recommended.
We arrived to a personalized anniversary card from the staff on our table. We had a delightful evening enjoying the chefs tasting menu and recommended wine pairing. The food was amazing! The staff was friendly and professional timing all the dishes dishes perfectly (9 courses) and clearing discreetly. The view of the river from our window side table during sunset hours was beautiful. Thank you for helping us to celebrate so elegantly.
Awesome! Great experience. Great service. . Great views. Great food
6/5 - the best food we’ve ever eaten! We ordered the prefix menu which is 9 courses. We did not realize how long it would take and had to rush off but the staff was accommodating to helping us out the door. We will be back again to enjoy the full experience.
Chefs tasting menu is an extraordinary experience.
As first-time diners at ON20, we were blown away. Your first observation upon entering is the ambiance of the room and how crisp the decor is and let's not forget the view overlooking Hartford. You then pay attention to the level of service welcoming you and making you feel that you're the only diner there. Our server Strat and our host were fantastic. very attentive but not bothering you every 5 minutes. When it came to dinner, the menu looked amazing but we were very curious about the chef's tasting menu and the beverage pairings so we inquired and then ordered it. You get 7 courses and they perfectly pair a wine with each course. You are served a representation of the entire menu (Chefs Choice) you don't know what you will receive but it's from starters to desert. My personal favorites were the Rohan duck breast with seared foie gras and Arctic Char. The presentation was elegant and not overstated and the flavors were spectacular.
We highly recommend ON20 to anyone, its easy to get to, you have FREE covered parking with an elevator directly to the restaurant, what could be more convenient. The attention to detail, the high caliber of food and the amazing service makes this a dining experience you won't soon forget. FOUR STARS...Bon Appetite!
Amazing food, drink, and service. Honestly fantastic on all accounts.
Great experience , quiet , relaxing and enjoyable being able to look out over the city and it's colorful flavor at night
Looking forward to returning in the future
While expensive, the chef tasting with the wine paring is the BEST EVER
This was our fourth visit to ON20. We always enjoy our experience. From cocktails to dessert, we are never disappointed.
Very relaxing. White tablecloth setting, great view of skyline, great table service and the food was delicious.
So was the dessert. We were attending the Fleetwood Mac concert.
Excellent food! I recommend reserving a table by the window. We did not, but next time for sure. Apologies for the lack of detail in this review, I waited too long to post it. Service was very good, food was excellent. We all very much enjoyed our experience. Definitely recommend. Parking was easy in the garage.
By far the best part of the dinning experience was the service. Table service was great as was the bar service. The bartender was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and beer he served. Offered insight into different spirits and food. Service at the table was very attentive and nice.
The food was good. But to pay that price for duck and beef tenderloin I need to be wowed. And I wasn’t. To shell out over three hundred dollars and think that I could get this level of food some place else shouldn’t happen.
Would I go back? Yes. Maybe for the happy hour at the bar.
An amazing dining experience. We enjoyed every part of the meal service and ambiance.
Very very fancy took my girlfriend for are 1 year anniversary and the chef was giving us a lot of complementary starters it was definitely amazing the view is just breathtaking especially at night it’s beautiful definitely recommend the is fine dining restaurant prices are very fair also.
Great restaurant for a special occasion. Extremely attentive service. Food delicious, but not especially innovative - except for the amuse-bouche - oyster! Lovely! 1/2 price on bottles of wine on Friday evenings - we had an excellent Bordeaux.
We had the chef’s tasting menu, and everything was exquisite. It was a nice long dinner, so it made the night very special. Everything slows down and you really get to enjoy the view up on the 20th floor. Chef Powers is killin’ it up there!
Very small portions and I'm not a big eater. Way too overpriced for a Hartford restaurant, even if trying to be "french". Good views and setting though.
We went on a very slow Thursday night. We received outstanding customer service from an attentive and friendly staff. The food and drink was very good, but a little pricey. That said, the food, drink and atmosphere combined for a very nice dining experience.
Its been a while since we last had lunch at ON20 (guessing four years) and my husband and I had a very romantic afternoon. We both ordered the grand prix-fixe lunch and my dishes were absolutely delicious. The mussels and clams were smothered in this fantastic red sauce that I couldn't get enough of, the duck confit was absolutely cooked to perfection and the pear and blueberry dessert was the perfect ending to a perfect afternoon. This is by far the best restaurant I've been to this year. Also the champagne was divine, if you ever want a real glass of champagne you must come here and treat yourself!
