On Sunset at Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel Ratings and Reviews
Ambiance and wait staff both wonderful.
Convenience with Valet is also notable.
The food is also very good, but as indicated pricing a bit excessive for what you get. Example is the minimal shrimp you get with the salad and the size of the shrimp. Same with other meals.
What is not notable is the significant charge for valet, even though you dined there and paid the excessive pricing for what is served.
Perhaps that is why the luncheon crowd has seemingly dropped off from what previously observed.
This restaurant is always easy to get into and offers a convivial atmosphere in which to hold a conversation without having to "yell" across the table. The food (salads) are plentiful and tasty; although not inexpensive. Why they did-any w/ their complimentary olive tapenade is unknown and quite disappointing. Also, too bad it costs $5 to valet park for two hours. When a tip's given to the valet, then parking's anywhere from $5 - $10 (used to be free)!
Something was off kilter throughout our visit at this usually very fine restaurant. Though we arrived at 12 noon for our reservation there was no greeter in sight. Finally, after 10 minutes we got the attention of a waiter. Despite requesting a very quiet table they were going to seat us next to a loud table of 10!!! They never checked the reservation as to our request. It was extremely loud which is unusual for them. Our order took forever. One of us ordered their standard and quite good brie sandwich with cranberry on baguette. When it came it had 3 small cranberries in it only. Nobody was paying attention and their food seemed to have deteriorated. Too bad for a once destination restaurant.
The service was so bad that we ended up even having to pay for parking even though the restaurant validated us for 2 hours. That should have been enough time for lunch for 3 people, but they were so slow and inattentive that we were 30 minutes over on parking. The food was okay, but if the service is so poor, the food wasn't enough to make me want to return.
This spot remains ideal for business breakfasts. The tables outside have a great atmosphere, but can be a little distracting because of people watching plus noise from the water feature. Inside tables are where Westside power breakfasts happen. The service team respects the need for privacy of conversations, and unlike some places doesn't interrupt every 30 seconds asking if everything is OK.
Decent food until we tasted the chicken breast. It had a chemical on there that made our mouths dry and the chemical taste lingered in our mouths for ten minutes afterwards even though we ate the other food. It was like someone accidentally spilled cleaning solution on there. The restaurant was empty except for us (one couple came after). It makes me think that they are not turning over their food. The waiter and manager were super nice and comped that dish, but we will never return.
Started going here because it was the perfect mid-point business lunch location. I often meet clients/business associates here who come from the Valley. Salads are always top notch and service attentive and impeccable. I have also been to two private daytime events here very recently where requests for fruit for dessert were not only accommodated, but done so graciously and beautifully. I only have one complaint and it's something of a deal breaker. A relatively new $14 charge for validated parking when dining here puts the cost of lunch into the stratosphere. I fully understand that parking is not an easy thing for this venue but it has already made me look elsewhere, out of consideration for my guests. That's a lot to pay for the privilege of dining in a hotel's restaurant.
I've had many lunch meetings here and never disappointed. The wait service is friendly, helpful and wanting to please. I had the steak tacos and the salsa and guacamole was spicy -- the waiter made me guacamole that was mild. He suggested it. I thought that was good customer service -- wanting you to come back. The food is really good and a good variety. I would recommend this place for lunch.
A lovely outdoor patio in a chic hotel outside of the busy loop of the Westside of LA. Pleasant surroundings, delicious if not unusual food, efficient service and perfect weather made our special birthday lunch a delightful experience. If you want to avoid the noise and frantic atmosphere of most restaurants in the city, this is the one that you will enjoy!
We stayed at the Luxe Hotel and ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. While the food was okay, the service was really slow. At dinner, there only 2 or 3 tables seated, so the restaurant was basically empty. It still took almost an hour to get our food. Unacceptable. Breakfast was a little better, but still slow and we had to flag someone down just to get a coffee refill and the check.
Had I known that this restaurant was under construction, I would not have chosen it for lunch this past Tuesday. I have always enjoyed coming here for lunch and dinner. I love the cod but it was just okay and not great. Hopefully, it will be back to normal by February 2016!
I had requested an outdoor table as I had a friend from out of town and wanted her to experience our beautiful weather. We were crowded into the indoor area, noise level was high and it was not as pleasant. Why require those who make a reservation to indicate whether they prefer an indoor or outdoor table if one of these options is unavailable? This is unlike the usual service at the Luxe.
