Olympia Provisions Southeast Ratings and Reviews
Pretty good overall experience. Food was delicious, drinks were great. Just had to wait about half an hour beyond our reservation time, and our waitress didn't make an asserted effort to get us started on an appetizer at the bar while we waited despite us voicing a desire to get one and we had to inject the request about 30 minutes into waiting. Still had a great time and will be back for sure.
I have been hearing about Olympia Provisions since moving to Portland two years ago and had a friend arriving from the east coast. The entire experience was very Portland from the craft cocktails to the curing ham hanging from the rafters. The food was the highlight. Everything we had from the ham board to the cheese board were five stars. We will be back.
I took my friend to Olympic Provisions for her birthday. We had a charcuterie board, shrimp & mussel stew and we both had the braised beef short rib which was fall off the bone tender and bordered on decedent. The portion size of the short rib was generous with enough left over for lunch the following day.
Our server was genuine, authentic and knowledgeable so she was able to provide welcomed insight as to ingredients, preparation, etc.
Overall it was an outstanding experience, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others and I personally can't wait to go back!
A near perfect dinner at the SE Washington location. The only part I didn't care for was the "Fast and Furious" car gang that apparently hangs around for two hours every Sunday. It made parking really tough and they constantly peeled out with their super noisy cars. But this also has nothing to do with the Restaurant and is not their fault. Just a bummer this car gang decides to congregate near the Restaurant. Super trashy group of individuals.
This was my first visit to the restaurant and unfortunately it was not fantastic. My family and I made reservations for my birthday. I am a single mom and never get out and I was very excited to try this place out! The food was phenomenal. The service was horrible. No one smiled or laughed with us. We were treated as if we were in the way or doing something wrong by being there during Happy Hour. It was really strange... There were only 8 of us. Apparently we were sat in the incorrect spot but no one helped us or barely spoke to us. We spent a good deal amount of money and would have spent more if our waiter had come over to see if we wanted any other drinks.
The charcuterie board was the highlight of the meal. We had trouble deciding on main dishes and ended up splitting halibut, grilled octopus, and a salad. They were all just okay, but the charcuterie board was amazing.
Our server was friendly and had great suggestions for wine pairings and was very attentive.
We were down from Seattle for an anniversary celebration and stumbled on this GEM through OpenTable. First thing to know / note is that this is a MEAT place. (The restaurant even advertises the fact in neon!) My husband and I split the Chef's Choice Charcuterie board, fried almonds, heirloom and cherry tomato salad and roasted chicken thighs. Chef's Choice board was FRESH and tasty. The salad had less of a dressing more of a sauce that came from the moisture of the tomatoes and the pickled vegetables mixing with the soft cheese -- creamy, but not overpowering the ripeness flavor of the tomatoes. Regarding the chicken, my husband advises me there is now a second place he will eat chicken out. We finished the meal with Saucisson au Chocolot and the sorbet and sherbet terrine. When our server realized we were headed back to Seattle in the morning, she packed our leftovers (and 2 more chocolate sausages!) nicely and added cutlery and napkins. We'll be back. (Interesting wines to complement the meal. Success, all around.)
4th visit to Olympia. Haven't ever made it past the charcuterie and desert. They are just too good. We've had every charcuterie board they've invented, the warm olives (yum), and most of their cheeses. Fantastic. Servers are very knowledgeable and take the time to highlight all the ingredients on each board.
The deserts are a great finish. Same care as the charcuterie.
This restaurant was fantastic! I'm a vegetarian and worried there would not be options for me but it was all delicious! It started with excellent service as they seated the six of us at a front table with open barn doors to allow us to have the protection of being indoors while looking outside. They offered a complimentary appetizer of wonderful olives and fried almonds - great combo. We had very nice manhattans and a lovely bottle of Chardonnay. The cheese boards were delightful - we got to request some cheese categories. Each cheese was especially good. Joya, our waitress was perfect - appeared when we needed her and could not have been more friendly, helpful, kind and professional. The pasta dish and heirloom tomato salad was luscious. We split the pasta dishes and they were as gracious as could be about the fact that we didn't each order an entree. They split our bill five ways with no complaint. This is my new favorite restaurant in downtown. Great experience! Every bite was delicious and the service was perfect!
I have also ordered a take out and go with my step mom there often for lunch. Our team goes out 3x a year and half have never been - we are just down the street (In Randy's building..) so it was new to them and of coarse i love the Randy Sammy!!!! Thanks for everything!!!
We had an excellent dinner with friends. Staff was attentive and accommodating. And most importantly, the food was amazing. For 4 people, 1 charcuteri plate was not enough... not because it's small, but because you'll devour it. My favorite of the meats was the capicola on the italian board, but there wasn't anything that wasn't fantastic. We also had a cheese board which was just as great. For the main course I had the short rib. OMG... cuts like butter. And the size of it... wow! Plus lardons. Mmmmmm My wife and friends had the octopus, little gem lettuce, cavatelli, and the stew, and all were thoroughly enjoyed. I certainly look forward to my next trip back to Portland.
Wanting to try something new, I reserved a table here. Charcuterie, cheese, pickled veggies and an amazing halibut dish, made for an enjoyable and delicious evening. The drinks were tasty and fairly priced. Service was attentive and helpful. The selections of meats and cheese were, in some cases, things I would never think to try, but the tastes were awesome. Great time with friends. It seems like they can easily accommodate large parties. And, lots of parking in the area. Worth a try, and at least in my case, worth a re-visit.
A hidden gem tucked away amongst industrial buildings...it's easy to miss it if you're looking for a typical restaurant exterior. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the drinks are well-crafted, and the food is on point! Get a seat at the bar and enjoy!
