Olympia Oyster Bar
Olympia’s menu sets out to feature the honest beauty of seafood without over-manipulating it or masking its flavors. The result is a voyage into vibrant colors, fragrant spices, fresh and crisp flavor combinations. Not your typical oyster bar!
Fri, Sat 2:00 pm–10:00 pm

We had the best meal in recent memory and absolutely the mostly wonderful service. Caitlyn is awesome. The food was just delightful - it bears repeating. Favorite restaurant in Portland by far!
Absolutely delicious! We tried a variety of oysters, ceviche, shrimp tostadas, clams and mussels. Would definitely eat here again.
I always eat here when I fly in from the East Coast. One of the best oyster bars in the USA. Great selection of oysters and wine. Truly one of a kind spot with friendly, knowledgeable and fun staff.
This is a great place if you go with the mindset you will have high priced and delicious oysters on the half shell. They had a great selection and they were fresh. We ordered shrimp and a "bucket" of clams and mussels. They were ok but the bucket was half full nowhere near the size of what you would think of as a traditional bucket. There were three of us we had 3 glasses of wine. The bill was over $160 and my 89 year old mother went home and made a salad.
Great food. great staff. Selection of wine and rum pairings are the perfect complements to the oysters.
Good food with reasonable proce
Very accommodating for our group. Yummy food!
Would certainly not recommend. If you want a sarcastic condescending attitude then go here. Our waitress was aweful. Can’t imagine they will be in business long.
Cheviche had too much lime
Oysters were full of shell. Could not even eat them without picking shell out if your mouth. Should have taken a picture. It was pathetic to say the least.
I took my husband for a date night and had the best time. Our server was fun, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was fantastic! The dressed oysters and mussels/clams in broth were SO GOOD.
Oysters are amazing. Be warned if you are a larger size person, their chairs are quite narrow.
My wife and I loved this place. The oysters were great both raw or creatively cooked with Mexican themes.
Server and beverage coordinator (if that's a proper term?) were both knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about the food and drink and the restaurant. What a treat. The white wine and raw cane rum flights were exceptionally good and paired perfectly with the meal.
Tuesday's have raw oysters at a big discount hence the 5 star for value. Otherwise maybe a 4, but completely reasonable for what you get regardless. We will be back.
Staying in Portland area for several weeks and this restaurant received excellent fresh oyster reviews. Tasting menu was very pricey but very fresh and good. Oysters, mussels, clams served in very creative and tasty ways. A unique and delicious splurge!
Ran out of most oysters on oyster night by 7:30 pm
Olympia Oyster Bar always has a great selection of Oysters. My husband loves oysters , I can eat just a certain amount then I'm done so their side dishes are really really good. I love their specials especially their salads choice. Their selections of wines and bubbly match well with the oysters.
Great place for a late lunch!
Great waitstaff. Great food.
Amazing food. Seating is a bit rustic- not super comfortable for the 2 hours we were there eating. Oysters well prepared, clean, great dressed oysters! Desert was so good!
Very fun for a birthday but definitely not budget friendly. Go for the oysters (or take someone who loves osyters)— they can’t be beat locally for selection. Didn’t have lots of options for non-Oyster dishes, but we liked the trout croquets and the goat cheese soaked in oil with orange zest and rosemary. Also had good cocktails and a substantial wine list.
If you like oysters... Go!
friendly, casual dinner!
Along with the service being excellent, so is the food. There are so many different way to serve oysters, and I love almost all of them. They taste so fresh that you'd think they just came out of the ocean. They also serve muscles and shrimp. Everything is served raw or cooked. Fabulous variety. Can't wait to go back.
We had a wonderful dinner at Olympia Oyster Bar! We sat at the bar and had a great time. We shared the Olympia Platter which was perfect for two people. The mussels, ceviche and trout conserva were notable. The oysters were delicious as well. We can't wait to go back!
We had a wonderful Mother's Day there. We were lucky to get a last minute reservation. Everything was fresh and delicious! The wine flight paired well with everything and we have such an amazing time. Even my 11 year old tasted everything; she especially loved the cheese platter. Hope to get back for date night soon!
Always fun to try the different oyster options. Like the specials and great ceviche. Nice wine selection- had the orange grape style. Would recommend with confidence!
An incredibly great dining experience. We arrived at 4 and stayed until 6:30. Happy hour is very generous and there is a great selection of oysters. We also enjoyed the butter leaf salad; perfect with a soft boiled egg and croutons. The dessert was to die for; the lightest creme brûlée ever, offered over fresh strawberries and blueberries.
We really enjoyed the variety of fresh oysters!
Great place for the family with tapa style servings gave us an opportunity to try many dishes. Service was awesome!
A kitchen with a deep respect for ingredients, but who would have thought a seafood house would put out such a fine mushroom entree? Would've been happier if we could have gotten oysters per piece, but a minor quibble. Fine service from Hannah, too.
Went here on a Saturday afternoon and enjoyed their Portland Dining Month selections. The oysters were prepared three ways and all were fresh and good. The ceviche for the second course was good but not my favorite as far as ceviches go. The last course, mussels and clams in garlic butter sauce were also good. Their oysters are their specialty and they were great. The person who helped us select our wine was extremely informative on picking something that we both would enjoy, that would pair well, and in telling us the origins of the label.
Drove up from Eugene to meet my daughter for Saturday lunch date. Food and service was fantastic! Our server was both friendly and helpful. Creative oyster menu, and they were all superb! Great wine/bubbly pairing to go along with the meal. The smoked goat butter that was served with the bread is so good! Who needs bread. Very reasonably priced. Casual neighborhood location.
The service was great! We went in for the March Dinning and portion was good. We enjoyed our meals and had ordered the Tues special Oysters Plate as well and was not disappointed. We arrived almost an hour early for our 7.30 reservation and was sat immediately.
We ate here for March dining so it was affordable.
The service is great we'll go back for oyster Tuesday.
Private seating or having booths as an option would enhance the experience.
The oysters were excellent. The spices that the chef attend were out of this world. We tried it for the first time with Portland Dining Month and definitely worth every penny and more. The mussels and clams were cooked in a red spicy broth which brought such great flavor to the seafood. The broth itself was good on it's own. The ceviche was very flavorful and a great sharing dish. We will definitely come back.
This was our first time here! Being a foodie and my boyfriend being obsessed and picky with his oysters. Nothing compares to Elliot’s in Seattle for them so when we heard they had oysters and one of the best we had to try! Our waitress that night sOooo awesome! Super helpful and I’m glad we went with her suggestions! We got one portland dining month, sea board, prawns! And the barrel X wine for myself. It was so good! And we just found out that they have happy hour ?! We will definitely be back soon! Thank you for a great experience Olympia oyster bar!!
We always enjoy dining here. Our server, Simon, was knowledgeable and attentive. He looked like he enjoyed what he was doing and we enjoyed him. The food was well presented and extremely delicious. After the three set courses, we proceeded to get another dozen of those wonderful Olympia oysters, some grilled shrimp, and a pear creme brulee. We will be back!
Loved it. Went for Portland Dining Month. I hadn't really seen the menu. Didn't realize it was basically all shell fish, much of it raw. Great wine list for oysters, ceviche and clams/mussels. Would HIGHLY recommend if you love oysters and shellfish. Excellent selection. No frills. Down to earth. Relaxed environment.
I went for Portland Dining Month and the value was great for the type of food it was! I really enjoyed the oysters.
Had friends in town and just had to bring them here. We have never been disappointed and definitely wasn’t this time. Simon our server is so knowledgeable and such a nice guy he made the experience great. Highly recommend to everyone.
The oysters were, as expected, wonderful. While I prefer my oysters plain, maybe with a squish of lemon and salt, the aguachile was phenomenal. Light, cucumber-y, fresh and delightful. It was tasty and a great compliment to the oyster itself. My 8 year old was sufficiently impressed to eat multiple. :-) Their bucket of shellfish didn't disappoint either. Wine list - and by the glass choices - were good; the beer and cocktail menu was good. Our server made great recommendations for our drinks. Service was friendly and great, if not a bit slow (but the good kind of slow where you have everything you need and they kind of just leave you alone with your date). We will come back.
Went for the Month of March Dining offer. Came away appreciating the waitress help with wine and food selections that capped a wonderful evening. Highly recommend the Olympic Oyster Bar!
Amazing food and even better service. Had an amazing time. Would definitely go again
