OLiVES - Bellagio Ratings and Reviews
The cioppinno was pretty average. Not as impressed as the first time we were there when they first opened. Really loud and very dark , hard to hear waiter. Enjoyed the olive tapenade and bread before meal. Was really impressed the first time I went there, a bit disappointed this time
The temperature in Vegas was 45 degrees. We were seated in front of the patio doors. It was miserable. Every time someone went in or out we were blasted with cold air. The waiter finally brought us two blankets. How embarrassing to have to cover-up our evening wear with a blanket! We were miserable! Our food was cold. Such a poor experience and we have eaten here many times in the past...but never again!
This was probably our final visit to one of our very favorite dining spots here and elsewhere. Unfortunately, Olives will close and be replaced by Spago in January. The restaurant has been staffed by friendly and professional people. We will revisit here in hopes that those who want to be part of Spago will be retained.
We had a reservation and checked in early asking for a outdoor table, the hostess, Yobi.. I believe her name was, was amazing.. very accommodating and sweet. We sat at the bar and ordered a drink while a table opened up. She gave us the “ perfect” table.....we sat there enjoying lunch and watching the fountain water show. However services was poor, but never the less it didn’t take away from the experience.
Overpriced for what you get. My husband ordered the $60 rib-eye and chewed and chewed like it was a $20 New York strip steak. The slathering of sauce across his plate? Ketchup. On a $60 entree. I had the tenderloin - also over $50 (all justified when ordering as we were celebrating an anniversary). It was okay - not $50 okay. Just okay. The olive tapenade and bread they deliver to your table is worth the visit - sit at the bar and just order this. You'll thank me.
I had been wanting to eat here for a few years, the ambiance was amazing, the wine selection is out of this world, we eat out a lot, and our server was impeccable. Unfortunately, the food just didn't measure up. Not one of the the 3 dishes we ordered was outstanding, and the bread pudding for desert was just ok. I had expected amazing food, we still had a wonderful evening as the service, wine and atmosphere were great. Might we worth finding out what on the menu is good before you go.
Best part of the night was the hostess. Very nice. Our waiter on outside table was just an order taker. No hello. No welcome. Just a “what can I get you to drink” drinks still not out after 20 minutes. I asked him if I need to go to bar myself and he said they are coming. 10 minutes later he brought them out. 30 mins for drinks! Dinner order was taken, again no recommendations no info just wrote it down and moved on. Dinner was bland and tasteless. I would have mentioned this to him had he come by for a quality check. This point just wanted to get dinner over with and pay tab. Had to ask him for tab, Gave him credit cards and that took another 20 minutes. Been here many times before and each time a little less enjoyable than the 1st. This time it was a total disappointment. Service 0 starts. Food 2.5 stars. Just overall horrible.
We had a great table and the evening started lovely ,but service declined as the evening progressed. They forget to service bread until after our carpaccio, which was to large a portion in comparison to what followed. The staff were pleasant but busy. We were not in a rush but it just didn’t flow. The menu selection was small.
If you can get a food view seat, it would make the experience worth it, if not, don’t bother. We passed by earlier in the day, and told them we had a reservation for that evening, and asked how we could get a patio seat to get the best view of the Bellagio fountain show. We were told to come early and ask the hostess for a spot on the patio. Though we didnt come as early as we wanted, we were still told that we could wait an hour for patio seating. No thanks. We were offered a “window seat.” Technically it was against a window, but it was tucked in the very corner of the restaurant, and we had to get out of our seats to peek around to see the show. Kind of a bummer, because that was the main reasons why we chose this restaurant. Somwe didnt get off to the best start, but the fresh warm bread definitely made up for it. They bring along a trio of olive toppings as well. I cant comment on these, as I dont like olives, but the bread itself is great, and I had plenty of it. As far as the rest of the food, I would say average at best, and for the price, I would defintely venture elsewhere. If it werent for the bottomless fresh bread, this experience would have been a total bust. As I said before, if you can get a good view seat, it would be worth it, but if not, I would go elsewhere.
My friend Kris and I love Olives. We always go there when we are in Las Vegasu. We always ask for Sabine to be our server. When we made our plans to go during Thanksgiving, we called ahead to ask for a special table near the window and of course for Sabine to be our server. Unfortunately, she was not scheduled to work the day that we planned on dining there, but she went way above and beyond by making sure we would have the table we requested and made sure that we were well taken care of. Kris, myself, and my friend Mike were taken care of perfectly. Justine welcomed us graciously, and showed us to the exact table requested. Dominique was our server and she was very engaging and provided exceptional service. The bus boy was super nice as well, and even another staff person came by to make sure we were okay because Sabine had made it clear to everyone that she wanted us to be well taken care of. It was a perfect dinner all thanks to Sabine (who wasn't even there) and the whole staff! We hope to make it back before Olives closes in January!
We dined at OLiVES for Thanksgiving and were very impressed. We will definitely we returning! Excellent food and service! We were able to get a table right by the windows so we could watch the water show. Unlike other restaurants on the water, they actually play the music that corresponds with the show. I don't believe most negative reviews which they've gotten are deserved, as their website warns you that patio seating cannot be reserved ahead of time. However, they're more than happy to let you leave your table to stand on the patio and watch the shows if you want to. Overall 10/10 experience. Would recommend the truffle risotto and the cookie butter creme brulee!
Made reservations well in advance yet they sat us in the.middle of a loud bar for thanksgiving. My first course; pasta; was served cold and I asked them to make sure my entree was hot. It wasn’t. They replaced it and comped the pasta and dessert (which I didn’t order at that point). Just so disappointed as our meal the year before was delightful.
Olives is one of our “must do” restaurants each time we come to Las Vegas. The grilled calamari and octopus was outstanding. But the favorite above all is the beef carpaccio. It is my fave of all time!! We were able to sit on the patio and had the water fountain show entertain us. The kids (teens) loved it- and the pizza. We went after watching “O” and this was the crown to a fabulous day!!
Have enjoyed eating at Olives for a few years. But this will be our last time. My husband and I made reservations a week prior, requesting an outside table and sharing that we are celebrating his 50th Birthday. There was no mention of his birthday and we did not get a table outside, but rather a table that was awful. So, if you want to celebrate anything special in Las Vegas, do not eat at Olives.
We had previously visit Olives on our prior trip to Las Vegas.
This and the prior tie we were attended by a great and excellent person : Sabine. She was all smiles and always very sensitive to make sure we were OK.
She was able to make us forget the terrible experience we had at the front desk when we arrived earlier. The young lady believed she was the owner and we did not deserve to be seated prior to our reservation time. However, she did allow two groups to do so, which by the way: DID not have reservations.
Luckily, a more senior attendant to care of the desk and I approached her and she immediately directed us to a empty table. By the way, there were several tables empty during our dinning at the Olives, so there was no excuse for the young woman which first received us at the front desk.
