We went specifically for the Sunday beef special. When we were about to place our order, the server told us that there was no more of the special beef dinner. I think he should have told us as soon as we sat down. It wasn't busy and at 7 pm., I think there should have been enough of the special left.
Always enjoy eating at your restaurant. It's quiet and my daughter and I can relax and enjoy our food without interruptions.Perfer the booth.
Met a friend for a Friday night dinner @ 7:30p. Restaurant was not too busy and we were seated immediately. The server was knowledgeable, attentive and super nice. The food was excellent! There was a birthday party going on in a somewhat closed off room but this did not have a negative impact on our evening whatsoever! I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I look forward to going back to try other items on the menu!!
Nice, casual place for Sunday lunch/brunch with extended family.
I was excited to take my family here for Mother's Day and was sadly disappointed with the experience. The food was decent but not great and the portions were very small for the cost; specifically the calamari and pesto shrimp linguine. The service was just ok but it took long for our drink orders to even be taken, then even longer to get our drinks. Once the food came two of the orders had mistakes and the server wasn't apologetic at all when spoken to. I've been to the downtown restaurant and had a much better experience.
Not friendly at all. Got the order wrong and did not even apologize.
no friendly greeting or smile, great waitress, salad received was not as presented on menu
Not impressed at all. We had no server (so we didn't even know who to tip when our bill came). The hostess took our drink and food order, and no one checked in throughout our meal to see if we needed anything. Food was mediocre at best. Would not recommend this restaurant.
Lots of variety. Nice place for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Generous portions.
Overall a good experience, and folks in the party all asked why don't we think of this place when looking for a place to have dinner. Party of 7, with 4 of us having the Sunday Special (NY strip steak, etc.), all very good but all 4 of us thought cut could have been better given the price. Very attentive wait staff, clean and open restaurant.
The steak was actually cold!? The butter chicken well below normal standards.
Great food and amazing service, thanks !
Say at the bar, great place have fun!
Server was poor. Had to ask and chase for everything Food was below par for the price all around disappointing. No wonder they weren't busy
Food is great, night really made with service and suggestions from Anthony.
This restaurant is lacking attention to detail in the menu, presentation, and upkeep of the restaurant in general.
You are very lucky to have Jaysen Chettiar as your Manager. I know Jaysen from his time st the Granite where he was a breath of fresh air and always went the extra mile for me and my guests.
Easter Sunday lunch for family members, 10 people, very good service and great food.
Excellent ambiance. We had brunch...but felt like we had lunch. Exceptional value for the food. We'll go back for sure! We had tried Canoe before and we'll try orher O&B's.
Really nice evening for me and the family, lived my pomegranate Mojito
Best cheesecake ever!! Great service and reasonable prices.
The dinner special pork loin dish was delicious. Service was great as usual.
We went to celebrate my birthday on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was empty only about 5 tables occupied. The service was excellent the food not so much. One of us ordered the Bronzino, which came in a bowl of soup...clearly not explained well on the menu or by the staff. As far as the value for money...$31.00 for that fish, thin as your pinky about 3-4 bites.
Never again...the beef ribs were good, mash and veg not so much.
Ambiance...none as it was empty
it was a very nice experience, the service was beyond excellent
Great food & restaurant!
A little pricey for lunch (soup and a salad $24), but fresh and delicious.
Had a great evening with family. The occassion was a 101st birthday.
Good food and service both. Thanks OBC.
I really liked the spacious booth seating here. The artichoke spinach dip was tasty. My friend and I had the catch of the day which was halibut served on celery puree with some vegetables. It was delicious. The only thing is we didn't realize how expensive it was until we got our bill since the server did not mention the price and we forgot to ask. I guess that's average price for catch of the day. My other friend had the butter chicken and it was also very good. Ended with the flourless chocolate torte to share which was not bad, but had better. Service was great. Server did not rush us and was kind enough to give separate bills.
My love and I went here last night for Valentines dinner.
Some of my family members had eaten here before and highly recommended it.
We ordered one pre-fixe meal and one regular menu item plus a few cocktails and a bottle of wine.
We had to wait about 5-10 mins past or reservation time as they were clearing some tables. So we decided to get a cocktail at the bar. Overall, the service started off a bit shaky. The bartender was slow at taking our order and making the drinks. Before we got our drinks our table was ready. We sat down and were into such to our server but it took him a while to come back for our order. We ended up asking the sever to change one of our cocktails because it tastes as if there was no alcohol in the drink. We ordered the Mule and it was quite good but the gin based drink with blackberries was no good! Our server was nice enough to exchange it.
Overall the food came quite promptly following each other. We started off with the beet salad and the butternut squash salad. Both were really good. However for the butternut squash salad, we felt it would be better served on a bed of arugula and not just on its own. We would definitely order both again.
For the mains, we had the beef tenderloin and the shrimp pasta. Both were so good!! The temperature of the meals was very good too. Too many times restaurants will bring out the food lukewarm. This was a for sure plus for us. Both Meeks were cooked well and very flavourful. We shared both plates. We choose a bottle of Chilean Sauvignon Blanc and it was excellent as well, not too dry.
Lastly, we shared a dessert: a sort of chocolate meringue invention. It was just ok for us. We would have preferred a simple mini cheese cake instead.
Alex was our sever and although it was slow to begin he turned out being really great. He made our dinner experience comfortable and casual and he was very knowledgeable about the foods etc. he checked up on us regularly to make sure everything was great.
Tales were so close to one another you feel like you were in a group. Busy night since its valentines dy
We have been to this restaurant twice in the last 3 months. I was sent a email with menu options available for Valentine's Day only to find out that because its Valentine's Day the menu was shortened and items we want were not available.
The manager did come over and explained the situation and agreed to accommodate our menu choice. The salmon dish I ordered was not served hot. My husband did enjoy the chicken he ordered
I think there wine list is quite pricey compared to similar restaurants. Charging $58 for a 750 ml bottle of wine (even though you cannot buy at LCBO) is a bit much. Menu has changed, less choice. Last day of Winterfest price fixe menu. Two main dishes not available. We weren't told right away. Then had to make different choices.
My wife and I went on Tuesday for the Winterfixe lunch. The calamari appetizer was excellent and the pork rillettes were quite good as well. My wife's chicken salad main course continued the trend, but my pulled pork sandwich was cold when it arrived. In fairness, it was promptly replaced when this was brought to the server's attention, but still, in an O&B establishment?
The server was attentive and friendly, but the ambiance is best described as modern bland.
Overall, a decent value and worth a visit as long as your expectations aren't too high, as nothing is really a standout.
I've indicated that I would recommend the restaurant, but it would be with the proviso noted above.
The Winterfixe was excellent quality and menu choices. Incredible value for money and a great way to taste new menu items without stressing about the cost if you picked something you didn't like.
My meal -salmon with rice-had way too much salt and was drowned in butter! There was nothing on the winter fixe that was lactose free-even the salad had cheese dressing and they didn't allow substitutions. I had the calamari starter but the meal was too heavy. Service was very slow-they didn't appear to have enough wait staff.
Despite indicating in my booking that it was to celebrate a friend's birthday, and despite reminding the steward who attended to us, nothing was done by the restaurant until I had to remind them again on our way out.
It almost ruined the evening. Though the manager did apologize, but to me it was "Too little, to late"
Good attentive service. Food is so-so, nothing particularly inspired or noteworthy. Nice wide open feel for a big party. Not a bad bar list.
Food is delicious! Staff is really amazing! I would recommend this restaurant to our friends.
It was for my birthday
Had a great lunch and my friend's gluten free requirements were accommodated with friendly service! One of my favorite places for lunch!
