We celebrated my husband’s birthday at dinner and were delighted to be presented with Happy Birthday written in chocolate on the dessert plate. The menu was very limited likely because it was the first day that Oliver and Bonacini Cafe opened to inside dining. The mushroom soup was outstanding - rich and creamy without butter or cream. My steak frites was tender and juicy with broccolini and fries and aoli sauce. The venue was super clean and cutlery individually wrapped. Service staff were professional and attentive. We would continue to recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The staff was pretty amazing. And the restaurant we’re doing the social distancing recommendation with the tables.
The manager offered drink on house which was a very nice gesture.
Where Re the great ribs? Menu seemed dated, compared to winterlicious specials.
The sushi was terrible, it was ice cold and tasted like it had been made the day before. This alone is unforgiveable. I didn't return it because i was with a client. The steak was fatty, not the best quality and the server didn't advise us that the veggies were not included if we got fries instead of mashed potatoes. we did complain about that and she promptly brought us a plate of broccolini. Overall the service was good, the atmosphere was good, but you fell way down on the food. This is not typical of the O&B chain which usually is pretty good. Big miss this time.
Good food and served hot. Good service. Desserts are delicious.
Brunch at Oliver & Bonacini Cafe Grill, Bayview Village never disappoints.
It is our family's go to place to celebrate. The food is tasty and as vegetarians the options are good. The restaurant is children friendly with proper seating for babies and toddlers.
I would highly recommend the dining experience.
Our server was great! Cheerful. Attentive. My dad enjoyed his birthday brunch
Our hostess gave us the perfect round table for our board meeting. The service was paced very nicely allowing us to have our board meeting and eat without feeling rushed. The food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend Oliver & Binacini.
Perfect place for lovely get togethers. Our family had a wonderful time there.
Although the food was prepared to perfection, there was an over abundance of salt unnecessarily used. I think a general focus on healthy eating with less butter and high fat dairy would vastly improve outcomes.
Over all, a good experience.
Have always, over the years, enjoyed my meals at O&B. Recently, my very fave is the Crab/codcake meal - my mouth starts watering when approaching the restaurant!
Great atmosphere, even though restaurant was busy, the food came fairly quickly.
Friendly and attentive staff!
We are long time regulars of this location. The service was excellent as always and the waitress was professional and did her level best to try and satisfy us, however I was disappointed with my meal- I had the tuna nicoise salad. The pale coloured egg was insipid, I only eat organic eggs and the taste difference is very obvious. The salad was underwhelming.
My sons had the fish and chips which are always good and my husband had his usual off menu item of sous vide chicken and salad prepared and he was happy.
We had to ask for the bread which was delayed as it was still in the oven being rewarmed, it is usually sweet and tasty but when it arrived it was stale and hard, not the usual quality. I don't know if they have changed suppliers, the butter was also different. They kindly brought a slice of cake for my son for his birthday. Next time I know to skip the tuna salad.
Great food we both enjoyed our dinner
Server Andrew was spectacular - friendly, efficient, anticipated our needs, there we needed him. We were served quickly, with food hot, plentiful and delicious. Better than many higher-priced options.
16th birthday with family
We requested a booth (which is never promised 100%) but when we arrived, there was none available. They were very kind, asked us to wait and within 5 minutes we were seated as requested.
The mushroom soup is to die for! Too bad they don't serve Scotch Eggs anymore. That used to be our favourite!
Great food and exceptional service!
Our server was very nice but a tad chatty and food was very slow in coming. Also our water glasses didn’t get refilled. I specially indicated twice it was my husband’s birthday but when we ordered a dessert, there wasn’t the usual greeting nor candle. Overall the service wasn’t the usual attentiveness I’ve come to love about O and B restaurants.
Service was, at best, indifferent. I wasn’t asked how I wished my liver to be cooked and, although tender, it was over cooked. Companions’ entrees were better. Overall adequate but not impressive.
We did feel we needed to raise our voices to hear each other.
Atmosphere too loud.
The food is always consistent in its preparation. I would, however, like 2 slices of toast with my breakfast rather than the 1 slice cut diagonally. It is the usual way in most other restaurants and it especially helps to clean up your egg yolk. Otherwise, the plate is left with an abundance of egg yolk that goes to waste.
Service was excellent, was a late night dinner and never felt rushed.
Service was great
Mushroom soup was delicious. Pizza not as good as the last time I had it. The Sole was a very small portion for the price.
Food was great! Staff was pleasant. I will be going back.
It was my birthday. Our server was so patient as my friends and I need to catch up.
What a truly terrible dining experience. For starters, the reservation was made for 7:45, when we arrived at the restaurant we were told the kitchen was closing early for maintenance at 8:15. Giving us only half hour to order our meal (and dessert). No one called to confirm the reservation beforehand and ask if we would like to make it earlier so this was all a surprise. We ordered a drink and our waiter decided to give us another one since they were out of an ingredient, without consulting us first (the drink he brought was awful). Our appetizers came out at the same time as our meal, one of the meals wasn’t fully cooked, overall the food was decent but not worth the trouble. The truly terrible part of it all was that we were nothing but nice when letting our waiter know about the issues and he was incredibly rude to us the entire experience. He would basically scoff and walk away when we had very valid complaints. Despite all of the various problems we still had to ask for a manager to come by to speak with. The only thing I will say is that the manager (Zhara) was awesome and super nice and apologetic so that made up for it a bit. But I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to my friends, especially with that miserable waiter working there.
You never let us down! Always a good crowd , always great food!
Great food and service
Excellent night, food was amazing. It was busy so the service was a little slow but still tolerable. Great ambiance to the place.
Use to go a lot but last few times its been getting worse. My wife is gluten free, unlike a lot of restaurants which note gluten free on there menu, here you had to ask. The waiter was disinterested in helping, when she asked about the Tuna Poke Bowl, all he really said was that you couldnt have the sauce. When asked whether they could substitute some other sauce. The answer was no. We had to suggest alternatives because a bowl with no sauce is pretty dry. I would have to presume there was no Head Chef on because creating some other sauce shouldn't have been too difficult to do. Even though they brought some garlic aiole on the side, the dish was dry and not very appetizing.
I was feeling comfort food, and decided to have the Mac and Cheese and add some bacon. The good news was there was some nice chunks of bacon. The bad news was the portion size was poor, barely covering the bottom of the bowl that it was brought in. As well as it not being cheesy, it didn't really have much taste. There was no bread/garlic toast, of any kind and the presentation was subpar.
The menu itself was a jumbled mix of upper and lower end selections, with some items that would have represented the "middle" strangely over priced. For example I eyed the steak sandwich, and it was $2 less than a full steak dinner.
Maybe the waiter was having a bad day, we all do. But he seemed to be disinterested from the moment we sat down. Wasn't overly helpful, not rude just bored and disinterested in servicing us. We had finished our dinner and he asked if I like a another coke, as the wife was finishing her wine, I said yes. 20 minutes later it showed up as we were asking for our bill.
We also found the room to be very cool, and the air blowing, rather strongly.
This restaurant use to be one of the best in the city and we went there often. The last couple of times, we have gone it hasn't lived up to its initial high level of both service and food.
My family and I went for lunch with 2 people who were vegan. Although we checked the menu and I also called the restaurant in advance (who told me they had vegan options); when we arrived we could only order from the brunch menu, which had very limited vegan food options (one soup and a salad). We made the best of it but I was surprised that a restaurant of this caliber does not have a variety of choices for other diets. The server was excellent and offered to see what he could do. Overall the food was okay but I don’t think I’d go back in future.
Everything was great!
not fabulous honestly and very expensive, were expecting more than the jerk chicken, more romantic meal for Valentine and no choice of meat, the entree with duck was excellent and the dessert with strawberry sauce was too sweet and mushy -
We would recommend this restaurant based on past experiences, not this one.
Half the meal was good, in comparison to previous meals where it was a hit on all fronts.
Jerk Chicken and duck comfit were great, but gnocchi and chocolate fondue were disappointing.
The waitress put her hand on my husband's shoulder in a familiar way that felt creepy... perhaps in the hopes of getting a better tip.
The attention to allergy triggers was outstanding.
The house wines were outstanding.
