Oliver & Bonacini Cafe Grill, Bayview Village Ratings and Reviews
I always enjoy this restaurant at Bayview Village and have never had a bad meal there. The staff is very friendly and helpful but the kitchen was extremely slow in getting our food to us. Luckily we enjoyed our guests and tried to ignore the wait. Hopefully the tardy kitchen was a one off and we’ll be able to up the star rating when we return.
Absolutely terrible. This restaurant parades itself as a nicer than average establishment. Don’t be fooled. We were there almost 2 hours and only had an entree. We waited 40 minutes to finally give our order and receive water. We only got water because my husband ended up going to the bar and asking for it. Our entrees took another 30 minutes. I ordered the roast dinner. My beef wasn’t cooked correctly (over done) and the frozen broccoli was still icy and saturated with water. It was gross. Sent back. My husband order the cheese burger. They forgot every single topping: cheese, lettuce etc. Sent back. So almost 2 hours for mediocre food. And at that price point I expect way better. Will never return.
Reserved for Sunday lunch take a long-time friend for her birthday and requested a table on the patio (inside) for a quiet table which was accommodated. Our server was Jonathan and he was personable and provided excellent service. We both enjoyed our meals which we chose from the brunch and lunch sections.
It was a relaxing dining experience.....our waiter was very attentive....made sure our hot water is always filled up.
We ordered the liver and it was exquisite, generous portion, very tasty.....the pizza was great too, but we were so full after the liver we had to take part of the pizza home.
Food was absolutely excellent. We ordered the salt and pepper calamari to start, then went for the lamb gnocchi and turkey burger (added bacon!). Everything came on time and our server was terrific - can't remember his name but he was one of the gents wearing glasses! Great experience overall, and will absolutely be back for date night in the future.
My kids enjoyed their steak and salmon ordered. I enjoyed your soup of the day, caramel pumpkin. Both my husband and I ordered your Saturday night special ribs. We enjoyed the ribs but we find the combination with the corn on a cob a bit awkward to eat and the coleslaw we would prefer some fresh vegetables instead.
Oliver & Bonacini Cafe Grill, Bayview Village, was a wonderful choice for brunch on the weekend! There was a good variety on the menu. My friend had the pizza and her daughter had the waffles. I ordered the typical poached eggs with smoked salmon. I really enjoyed my dish which was done perfect! I had a piece of my friends pizza, also very tasty. Her daughter's waffles, I am told was very good too! The service was excellent! Our waiter I noticed was very attentive and patient when my friends daughter ordered, talking to her menu, rather than talking to the waiter. Thank you! We didn't order dessert, but rec'd a nice surprise carrot muffin / cake which was very yummy! When I booked the reservation, I had mentioned celebrating a special occasion. I found it loud, but I understand it was busy. I would recommend, more for the mall, is to have some signage at the major intersection. Going north bound on Bayview, I pasted it and ended up at Finch. The condo developments around had hid this gem.
The food was excellent and the the staff were outstanding- so accommodating! It was very special - just as we had hoped it would be- a great experience. I organized this lunch for extended family members who hadn't been together for quite a while and so it was important to me that it went well, and it was perfect.
It was very, very loud - tough, if not impossible, to carry on a conversation during the meal.
We ordered a drink "late in the meal" and it only came after we asked several times where it was and when it finally arrived, we had completed the meal.
We were told the item would be deleted from the bill, but it was not done - a small OJ for $6.00 and we had to ask the server to remove it from the bill.
I had never tried this restaurant from O&B, only Canteen and Bannock, which I like.
The food at the Cafe grill was mediocre. I realized when biting in the burger that I had not been asked for how cooked I wanted the meat. It was slightly overcooked, but I can’t blame them if I didn’t give any preference. What bothered me is that the beef patty didn’t taste much better than a McDonald’s burger. $18 O&B burger vs. $9-10 McDonalds burger, if you include fries.
My friend’s lamb gnocchis didn’t taste great. Since when do you add uncooked onions to pasta sauce? And why serving enough portions for three people in one plate? Big quantity doesn’t scream quality.
Great service though.
Very noisy, which took away from the good company. I wish this restaurant would consider even a little sound softening (even though that's against the present fad in dining), ie carpet or fabric curtains...anything to take the sharp din down to a dull roar...
