Oliver & Bonacini Cafe Grill, Bayview Village Ratings and Reviews
Pizza was blah. Tomato Sauce and cheese didn’t seem taste like quality product. Wife said butter chicken was not any good either “they somehow made the sauce taste like tomato” she told me. Servers were fine. Good physical space. Always like going to the one up at blue mountain but this was disappointing.
The food was good, the service was very good. The ambiance was not what I was expecting, however if you just want a casual family dining experience than it would be okay. I think the downtown location would be better from an ambiance perspective. However overall it was good.
The hostess was anything but welcoming or accommodating. Too bad. We had a reservation but even with many empty tables was not willing to accommodate our simple seating request. In fact she told us that ‘regulars’ are most important!! Quite unacceptable. I hope that the regulars of which our business is will keep them busy. We won’t be going back
Our Hostess was very attentive and always checked up on our table. She made us feel very important and did a great job with filling our glasses with water whenever it was empty or asking if we wanted anything else to drink. She was also very helpful with our order and wanted to make sure our dishes were tasting excellent. I would come back again.
We enjoyed our Winterlicious lunch. The food was tasty and served at correct temperatures by pleasant and courteous staff. We were seated in a normally quieter area, which we requested, but at this busy time during the promotion, conversation was nearly impossible. Book at off-peak times if this is important to you.
I go there for lunch and winterlious.
The menu is catered to anyone...from meat to fish to veggies.
The food taste and the presentation is very good.
The service is very good.
The best is to make a reservation.
The price is $$
I would highly recommend this restaurant.
The food was great. We had Moroccan Chicken and Lamb Shank. In a lot of places it seems that the meat is cooked then the sauce is tossed on. Not so at O&B the meat was perfect, the chicken broke apart without being over cooked. Service was attentive, not too fast and not oppressive.
Tried this with a friend for Winterlicious and it did not disappoint. Very attentive servers and delicious food. Had the spicy meatballs appetizer (good level of spice) and for the main the braised lamb shank (sooo tasty and the lamb fell off the bone so easily, didn't need to even use the knife) and the black forest cake for dessert which was pretty good as well. My friend enjoyed her meal as well. Thumbs up!
Party of two had Wintericious lunch. One diner had meatball appetizer, salmon as main, and Black Forest cake as dessert. The appetizer was excellent.... very very disappointed re the salmon - NO taste, bland.......the cake was fine. Other diner had soup, chicken, and cheese..........soup was so so...needed some spice, chicken fine , cheese fine. Again want to reiterate re the salmon......we eat a great deal of seafood and this was sub par! Barely was able to eat it.
We went there for winterlicious so I'm not sure it's fair to review that (I mean, what do we expect for $23?). Usually when we eat there the food is decent though nothing spectacular.
The service we had this last time we went was friendly but painfully slow. "I'll be right back with your hot water" really meant it will appear about 20 minutes later. I'm not sure if it was because we were seated in the back room but we had to flag down whoever we could to ask the server even for the bill. If we do go back it's definitely not going to be during a licious event.
Went for Winterlicious and was not happy with the service. We had to wait quite awhile for our food at the beginning and between courses. The main course sandwich hardly had any chicken, it was mostly bread. The server was not very attentative and could not even say goodbye or thank you when we left even with us leaving her a good tip.
In the past 4-5 years, we went to Oliver & Bonacini Cafe Grill at Bayview Village, every time when there was Summerlicious and Winterlicious. Also, occasionally, we liked to eat there because of a lot of good things which I selected above. It is one of our favourite restaurants.
A winterlicous tradition however on this occasion the service was really slow and by the time the food got to our table, it was lukewarm.
The dessert was a rum baba which sounds good, only problem was there was no rum! Instead it was pound cake soaked in a sweet syrup.
Overall disappointing as service and food was not great this time.
I normally like eating here for lunch or dinner and have been here three times prior coming for winterlicious. The most recent visit was to attend their winterlicious menu and it was a huge disappointment. The food was cold or luke warm when it was suppose to be hot. They also didn’t try to hide the fact that they were warming up pre-made food. My pasta was dry and cold and my soup was barely warm.
I know they can do better than this. If you are to come here, it’s best to just go on a regular day and not for their packaged meals.
I went for Winterlious and I ordered the main course with Chicken Bahn Mi. It turned out to be a small submarine. The bread was not fresh (like 2 days old) with only very small amount of chicken and not tasty at all. I was very disappointed. I can go the Subway or any other submarine fast food restaurant and get better quality. My wife ordered the salmon dish and it was just ok. Soup was good. Black Forest was mediocre. Rum cake taste good but dry.
Always enjoy the food, good selection for Winterfest event and good value. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable regarding food and beverage. Noise level was a bit distracting for conversation. We usually ask for a booth for that reason. Good evening.
