Olivella - Ojai Valley Inn Ratings and Reviews
Food was excellent. We did the tasting, and I’m glad we did. It was all so good, and I was so excited to taste lots of different menu items. I had crudo (amazing, very good combo of himachi and citrus); lamb pappardelle (good but very rich without enough mint/dairy); Arctic char (perfectly prepared); and the hazelnut dessert (also very rich but easily cut with sea salt gelato). Friend had salad (tasty but not very special); Classic rigatoni (just... yum!!); filet (generous portion, good but too big to finish); and choc surprise dessert (awesome).
Fresh local ingredients, the way California does best. Expensive but worth every penny for the quality!
We went to Ojai Valley Inn and Spa to celebrate my Fiance's birthday and we were treated so well.
Olivella was the perfect way to close the day. The service was phenomenal and the food was as well.
We highly recommend the: Crudo of Pacific Yellowtail (so fresh and beautiful flavors), Black Truffle Risotto, Main Lobster, Snake River Farms Filet.
Thank you to the staff at Olivella and Ojai Valley Inn and Spa for a fantastic weekend celebration!!
Without question one of the most incredible dining experiences I've ever experienced. My girlfriend and I had cocktails just outside the restaurant where we watched Ojai's famous "pink moment". The cocktail server was very helpful with suggesting the drinks and was very attentive and personable. She informed us that the type of sunset we were experiencing can only be encountered in two places worldwide. One in Ojai, the other in Nepal. We had showed up a little early but the GM was able to accommodate us right away. John our server knew the menu very well and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the entire experience. Melissa, the wine director, was incredible as well. Her recommendations were flawless and service was world class. We both had the tasting menu and both agreed it was such a great value. Highly recommend Olivella to anyone looking for an extraordinary dining experience!
Exceptional food and service. We went to Ojai on recommendation -my daughter had been several years ago. Although the grounds and activities were nice, the restaurant was the memorable aspect of our visit. Each of the three courses were prepared and presented in a non rushed fashion. Our server was helpful in describing the ingredients and melding the flavors. The process lasted approximately one and a half hours- what a treat! No hesitation in recommending this five star restaurant.
the service in the restaurant is excellent. do not, though, have drinks outside on the patio. the staff is not efficient. Champagne is brought out at "celllar" temperature ... which is good for a red wine, but NOT for Champagne. it took 20 minutes to chill the wine.
We stayed on the property and picked Olivella for our last dinner of our stay. It was the perfect end to our trip. Service was great and the food and wine were delicious. Even though the restaurant was full it was still a romantic enveironment. Would love to come back!!
My husband and I went on a date to Olivella because I wanted to do an early birthday celebration. We had the most amazing evening and the most delicious food. The service was absolutely impeccable, we highly recommend Chris Yu as a server. He is very knowledgeable, excellent with people and just an overall pleasure to deal with.
We started with a lovely glass of champagne, compliments of the house to help us celebrate my husband's birthday. Then my husband ordered the Pixie beer, which he loved. I had the Neff Nectar with cantaloupe Hangar vodka. It was perfect! What a great start to our date 💜
Everything on the menu looked delicious and we were having a tough time making a decision. We ended up getting the 3 courses with dessert, which has been priced quite reasonably considering what you get. I started off with the California Burratta, then the Fava Bean Ravioli, next was the Vegan Involtini, finishing with the Ricotta Panna Cotta. All of which were absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the Crudo of Pacific Yellowtail, then the Wild Mushroom Black Truffle Risotto, followed by the Snake River Farms Filet Mignon, ending with the Chocolate Dome "Sopressa". We were in heaven! Each and every bite of all of the dishes were delightful.
We had the most amazing sunset to gaze at over the beautiful greens of the golf course. The decor was as well. Very reminiscent of the pink moment itself.
Again, we cannot thank Chris enough for helping to make our dining experience such a special occasion. We will be back again and again 😊
I would have thought the menu to be fantastic given the resort. There was not a single good part about any course of the meal. Under seasoned, dry, lacking in creativeness. I eventually asked for some olive oil and Parmesan in order to make my pasta edible. Send the chef back to school. Very decent staff and adequate wine list.
Location, location, location!!! What a view and what a setting. We stayed at the Inn two nights and saved the second night for Olivella. It was a bit cool for sitting out on the deck, but a windowside table was the next best thing. I ihink everyone who works there and anywhere on the lovely property is hired for being friendly. Our servers were no exception. The chef is very good. We haven't eaten there before, so I can't really judge, other than to say our food was very good and beautifully plated. House made pasta was a treat. We'll definitely be back, and look forward to sitting on the deck, enjoying other delicious sounding menu items, while being pampered by a friendly and attentive staff.
Our meal was superb and complimented by warm service. The portions are completely sufficient on the tasting menu. We were getting full at the end of our third course and couldn't quite finish dessert. The wine pairings were excellent - a nice balance and all were special.
The ambiance was quiet and cozy with a great selection of acoustic vocals playing in the background. The restaurant wasn't busy but the spacing of the tables and the layout of rooms would keep this location fairly private even on a busy night. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
This was our first experience at this restaurant since it was known as Mar Via and more French/California cuisine (now Italian/California Cuisine). The food was much better than we anticipated. It is the best restaurant meal I can recall having in Ojai (40 years dining in Ojai). The ingredients were high quality and properly prepared with a subtle hand that let the ingredients shine. We enjoyed cocktails before dinner on the front patio which was another treat. Our waitress was great - knew the dishes, wines and recommended pairings . The wine, cocktails and food are on the expensive side ( main course +/- $40) and portions modest to moderately sized. But two appetizer two pasta dishes and split a dessert was plenty for the two of us. Considering the 5 star rating, special occasion the great foodie experience the mention of expense is just trying to be informative and not a complaint. We will definitely go back for another special occasion.
Very small portions. Dinner salad was ok but nothing impressive. Filet was delicious but small. Sides are extra.
Had to wait 45 minutes for main course after eating simple small salad and restaurant was not full. Staff are VERY attentive and all make eye contact and say hi. Over priced when considering you must pay for each side. Nice extensive wine list with usual markup.
