Excellent tapas restaurant in the middle of West Chester with very good food and a variety of options.
Just found out this restaurant is closing next week. So disappointed.
Overall very good- We 4 did the 7 course tasting menu- We decided we would have preferred to order individually
1- Meatballs- Amazing.
2- cheese plate- good.
3-- Fig & Pear flatbread- My favorite- loved this!
4- crab & corn cakes- just ok- We wouldn't have ordered this- some of our party are from MD and we are particular on crabcakes.
5- Tortellini- ok- but a bit heavy.
6- Pork tenderloin- very good! Recommend.
7- sausage trio- Too heavy for last course!
Where was the salad? This really was a very heavy meal- a bit too much. I would say I will go back and create my own meal next time :) Service was GREAT!!! I definitely look forward to going back.
Delicious food, warm and relaxing atmosphere, great vegetarian options.
Great dinner at olive branch. we did the chefs tasting and it was delicious! All four of us enjoyed it. Our friends had never been and said it was the best food they've EVER had in west chester. I also enjoyed the blackberry spritzer . We will be back for sure!
Read so many great reviews about this place so decided to check it out. My friends and I consider ourselves "foodies" so we were excited to eat here. The restaurant is quaint and our server was fantastic. The food however, was only average. Out of a 9 course chefs tasting, only 1 or 2 were above average in our opinion. The fact that it has a BYOB option, is a plus.
Had a 7pm reservation and when we arrived the place was packed. There were two available tables and a nice young girl sat us at a table near the kitchen that was set. Someone I assume was the owner came out yelling at the girl that we could not sit there, the girl apologized and moved us to the one other table that was available, Again the owner yelled at her. After being passed around and no one telling us where to go and to listen to her scream at employees on a busy Saturday night on the main dining floor ...WE LEFT! We were never approached by the owner and the only one that even spoke to us was the polite young women who was yelled at in front of customers for trying to seat us! We will not go back and it is obvious that reservations mean nothing to this business. Employees should not be treated that way ever and definitely NOT IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE RESTAURANT !!!! The place is loud and over crowded! They deserve no star for the treatment we received!
One star because I have no other choice.😡
This place has a very nice atmosphere and good food. I guess if you're looking for quantity instead of small plates [of interesting and well prepared food] this might not be your place. I thought it was exceptional.
If you think tapas means small portions, not at Olive Branch. The starter dishes were easily shared among our table and all delicious. Could have easily stayed with the starter menu however we thoroughly enjoyed the entree selections. Lemon meringue pie was outstanding. Service was delightful as was our server. Would return again.
My husband and I had a date night and chose the Olive Branch after having stopped in a couple of weeks before. It was very attractive and, looking at the menu, we found it quite intriguing. We were not disappointed! We chose a salad, an appetizer which was 3 spreads/dips with pita points, and 3 "small" plates which weren't small at all! Certainly enough for two to share and feel very satisfied! Delicious! Being a BYOB we brought a Spanish Rioja which was a perfect accompaniment! The owner/chef is a lovely young woman with incredible culinary skills and our waiter that evening could not have been more professional, courteous and friendly!
The salmon was not as good as usual. Like the old portobolio napoleons better. But overall still one of our go to byobs
The dining room on this Wednesday night was not busy so we received plenty of helpful and courteous attention from the serving staff. The four of us chose the seven course fix prix meal option which gave all of us a great variety of delicious food to enjoy together. A nine course option is also available for the very hearty eaters. The chef will pick the menu items for your group but you can state your preferences or dislikes up front so you are more likely to appreciate the selections. The courses came out at a very relaxed pace so we had a very delightful time together enjoying each others company as well as enjoying the wonderful meal. The BYO feature was also a plus for us. Because of the excellent food and service we all look forward to coming back again to Olive Branch.
I normally don't complain but this was not good...Our waiter was SLOW to service us and the host ended up explaining the menu to us...our first tapa, the mushroom casserole (or something like that), was warm on the top and cold on the bottom, like freezing cold...
The potatoes on the flank steak were rock hard and not cooked. Cmon guys, you can do better than this...All of this was surprising to us, as the reviews were solid for this place..
We went for a girls night out. Nic, our server was excellent . We enjoyed the 7course chef selection which I highly recommend. Highlights were the chorizo flatbread, corn crab cakes and the flanksteak. We will definitely will go back.
A cozy place with delicious food creatively assembled on small plates. Usually quiet enough for conversation but not on a weekend night! We dined on a Saturday evening. My reviews were influenced by the noise level which was very high and disrupting.
The menu is diverse and the food is consistently delicious! It's my family's (including two teenage boys) favorite restaurant.
Great experience. Had a nice night with my wife for valentines day before the birth of our daughter. Great courteous service. Great ambiance
Wonderful food as always. Erin was an excellent server
Food was well prepared, presentation was great, service was top notch. I wanted for nothing after leaving. I plan on going back. The chef played well with the varieties of palates working for a dynamic flavor experience.
Been here multiple times and love it - many options on menu. I'm a foodie, he's meat and potatoes. Always great atmosphere and service. I recommend a weeknight as not so crowded since space is fairly small.
Great dinner, love the choices of food. Bacon wrapped dates one of my favorites although everything was good - it was my sister's birthday and they came out with a sparkler candle - very festive!
The waiter didn't come to our table until at least 25 minutes after we arrived. The chorizo flatbread was like a french bread pizza I could make at home, the root beer ribs were clearly reheated in a microwave or some other quick heat method as half was ice cold and half was hot, and the ravioli was not what we had ordered.
Tables are crammed into this space and you have to push past seated guest to get in and out.
Lesson learned...won't be back.
Overall, wasn't too impressed. The food is only tapas in the sense that it's smaller portions. Most of it is American foods on small plates - mac and cheese, sliders, etc. For the price, not really worth it. The place is small and tables are tight. The noise level was high even with just a handful of parties.
This has one of the best brunches in town. Great selection - hard to choose! We ended up with a salmon florentine eggs benedict and flank steak and eggs. Both delicious. The smoked salmon is a substantial slab of fish and tastes "home smoked". The spinach is fresh and hollandaise made from scratch. The flank steak was very tasty and a nice substantial meal. We love the atmosphere here and the family run feel is evident. Our servers were great and we loved the chef. We even found the secret hiding place to leave messages. We'll definitely be back.
Worst meal I have had in years. The Asiago Artichoke hearts were clearly canned hearts that had some cheese on top and were then thrown in the microwave. The mushroom cobbler was all flour with little flavor. The flank steak, which came highly recommended by our waiter, was greasy and tough. We waited 30 minutes for lobster Mac and cheese and then ended up canceling that order and leaving we were so dissatisfied with the meal. The waiter was very nice about the whole thing, but we will not be returning to this restaurant.
Delicious and Fun! BYOB and Tapas - great fun sharing great food - loved it
We were disappointed in the food. It taste good but was very basic. We ordered the 5 course tasting and for 50 dollars we got basic food and there was no desert. You had to order it separately. It was not worthit. Could have gone to a regular restaraunt and had a better meal for 50 dollars.
Enjoyed the dinner very much, but Ironically - the servers were almost too attentive.
With tapas dining, you see your server more often than usual anyway - but then attention needs to paid to let your diners enjoy as well. There were several times when we just wanted a few minutes to enjoy without interruption. But otherwise - service and food were very good.
Olive Branch never disappoints!
We very much enjoyed our dinner. I even told a few coworkers about Olive Branch. We all agreed that we don't appreciate being charged $5.00 to unscrew a bottle of wine. Many other BYOB's in West Chester do not have this fee. Will check those out next time.
Delicious food. Service was lovely. We never felt rushed even though it was NYE! We will definitely go there again!
We were there for NYE. The food was average. The bigger complaint was that the 5 course meal required you to share the entree with your significant other. The entree was normal size to slightly on the small size, so you were basically sharing a normal entree. I would have expected that everyone got their own entree. And then the dessert was extra (not included in the NYE dinner), AND we had to specifically ask for the champagne that did come with the dinner.
I have eaten here many times and this time was outstanding again. Very large serving sizes for a tapas restaurant with very creative ingredients on all dishes. It's a BYO so bring your favorite beverage and enjoy a nice intimidate dining experience .
It's always fun to have a leisurely dinner at Olive Branch with a group of friends and/or family that like to share their plates. Several in our group had the traditional 7 Fishes Dinner and said the mussels were the best they had ever had anywhere.
Definitely recommend. We were a party of 7 and ordered a variety of plates. The ambience was perfect and we didn't feel rushed. We were able to enjoy the food and talking amongst ourselves.
Disappointing! This was my only chance to see my son and extended family during the holidays so I wanted something special. Sadly, it took 1.5 hours to get our eggs served. And there were only 4 other tables the whole time we were there.
The Spanish skillet was great, but my Greek skillet appeared unprepared. There were so many whole kalamata olives that I couldn't taste anything else. It would have been nice to have them chopped and more as a flavoring instead of the whole dish. Also, it says unlimited OJ and tomato juice, but not once was a refill offered.
I think it has promise but I won't be returning.
Been twice for lunch and five times for dinner over the last several years. Food, ambience, and service have always been excellent. It's decorated beautifully for Christmas right now.
My only complaint is that at our recent December visit, the tables are now covered with what looks like white butcher wrapping paper. It hung over the edges of the table and made an annoying crinkly sound when your arm touched it. I prefer linen tablecloths or no tablecloths at all. This white paper cover detracted from the elegance of the restaurant. It was kind of a head-scratcher for me. The waitress said the new paper made clean-up easier. Oh, well. It won't keep us from coming back--the food and ambience are too good!
If you go, be sure to try the wrapped Brie appetizer, Mediterranean Duo app, short ribs, flank steak, stuffed pork tenderloin, and lobster mac n cheese. Great tiramisu and homemade cheescakes for dessert. Good coffee, too! Remember, it's a BYOB, so plan accordingly, and bring lots of quarters for the meter.
Excellent brunch! Portions are large and cooked perfectly. There is good variety on the menu and one thing was better than the next. The Salmon Florentine Benedict had great sauce (made from scratch) and a good amount of salmon and spinach. The waffle sandwich was a great mix of sweet and savory - I didn't try it (next time), but our friend said it was great! Shout out to our sever for her hand in developing this one! The greek skillet was excellent - a lot of food, but great to have breakfast for the next day!
overall a really nice experience - not too crowded, but this is a real gem.
Great service and very unique menu with lots to choose from!
Awesome dinner with friends! Shareable plates, and great choices
