Great service thanks!!
Great. The Umbrian pizza with mushrooms and truffles is the best! So are the calamari.
Busy night, Buddy Guy in concert across street @ 8. Still, good service, great food (Loved the stuffed zucchini blossoms) and drinks, generous complimentary birthday dessert. We had a ball!
Great pizzas. The salami plates are beautiful as well
Great food, with lots of pizza and appetizer options, but just a few pasta options.
Nice patio table. Excellent server.
I didn't know I loved Italian food until I sampled all the light delicate pastas with gorgeous fillings and sauces from all my friends plates and came to my senses! My shrimp salad was wonderful but wow I can't stop thinking about the pasta sheets florentine…oh my!
Chose the pizzaria for dinner before a play at the New Vic. With reservations we were seated promptly. The servers were friendly and efficient. We shared a $6 olive appetizer and two pizzas. All of it delicious. Next visit I will ask to have my pizza left in the oven a bit longer to get some char on the crust but I know that’s not everyone’s preference.
Olio pizza is always fabulous, but this time I’m writing about the divine salad—a special offered the last time we went. Arugula, roasted butternut squash tossed in a delectable lemon vinaigrette, topped with burrata cheese with a balsamic reduction. Truly memorable. I hope the chef makes it a “regular” on the menu.
Always great, always consistent
Good place but crowded feeling. Quite noisy when full.
Really bad service and the food was middling at best. Far better elsewhere. Don’t go
As always, we loved the place, the food, the wine list. The Umbra Pizza is out of this world...the salad delicious. The prosciutto melted in the mouth....
The atmosphere is authentic......highly recommend Olio Pizzeria, for any occasion.
When you crave Pizza, go to Olio....
Server did not ask for our drink order. My pizza was burned, a black crust. Was told that's how they come! It was taken off my bill thankfully.
Typically we love Olio Pizzeria but were somewhat disappointed this visit. We made a reservation days in advance. Upon arrival, we waited for at least 5 minutes for the hostess to acknowledge we were even there. Then the only available table was upstairs. I asked if there wasn't something downstairs as the ambiance is much better and was told that's all they had. I got the feeling that they didn't reserve a table for us at all and that whoever arrived first including walk ins were seated down in the main dining room. Considering we frequent the restaurant pretty regularly it was a bummer. When the hostess told us she only had something upstairs she told me I could go "check it out". I had no idea how to even get upstairs and she seemed put out that she had to lead the way. Once we got upstairs she pointed at the table we could sit at but it hadn't yet been bussed so I had to stand in the corner and wait until a busser cleared the table and push 2 together. The final straw was that a large, loud party was seated next to us which completely destroyed any hope for a quiet evening out with good conversation. We had to raise our voices just to be heard. A suggestion also would be to somehow monitor the temperature upstairs. It was so hot we were sweating.
As always the food was good and our server did a great job despite being assigned the upstairs overflow area. We will return as we are hoping this was a fluke. But come on, Olio, your local frequent flyers deserve better.
Great food. The Umbra pizza is to die for and they carry a very decent tasting non-alcoholic beer, a plus!
The food was excellent. Flavorful and satisfying. No leftovers. We cleaned our plates. This will be my "go to" spot whenever I'm in Santa Barbara.
Umbra pizza was specially good that night -- it or the Bosciola (sp?) are my usual pizza choice.
Also I like the grade plato chestnut ale but the last two times I've been there they've been out of stock. So I had the Merretti Rosa.
We then had the pan cotton pudding for dessert. All very tasty -- and quick.
Always a pleasure to eat pizza here. The service is usually very good and the food is excellent. So many choices of different pizzas as well as other entrees.
Great Pizza and Bar. Perfect for a good pizza pie before a show.
Deliciously creative pizza. Not a huge menu, but varied. Worth a return trip.
The quality and over all authenticity is superb. Can't wait to go back.
Great food. My friend and I split the favorita chopped salad and boscaiola pizza. Both were excellent.
We live locally and dine here fairly regularly. Something was definitely off with the service on this evening. When we checked in with the hostess, she seemed distracted and less than cordial, telling our party to pick our own table and that she would follow later with menus. It took about 10 minutes to get water and see a server to order wine and appetizers, etc. From there, the service seemed to drag for most of the evening, with alternating servers/busboys attending to our table, having to ask for more water, etc. Our salad and pizzas were both very good and consistent with our past experience.
I can count on Olio to have great food and great service. They didn’t disappoint for my birthday dinner.
We have been before and we will come again. Delicious pizzas, focaccias and salads, great craft beers, a wonderful waitress. We ate upstairs.where it is a little quieter and we loved it.
As is true of all of the Olio restaurants, the meal at the pizzeria was great. The staff was friendly, prompt, and attentive. My wife and I gphave eaten at the pizzeria many time and what ever we have ordered has always met our expectations. We would recommend it highly. It can get crowded but that is a tribute to the food.
Great atmosphere and delicious food. Will not disappoint.
Too cold. Too dark. Over sauced over cooked pasta, very unappetizing and frankly un Italian.
Best pizza I’ve ever had! I’m sicilian and I know good arancinis and pizza and it was delicious! Just too hot inside.
Great casual dining.
Oilo Pizzeria is a busy, usually crowded noisy and fun place to have interesting single plate pizza or other Italian food. You can sit at the bar and watch the pizza crew assemble the pies, watch the game on TV at the end, talk, have a drink and enjoy your meal. We visit Olio a few times a year as a place for two couples to meet, have a bottle of wine and catch up over dinner. Well recommended asa reliable place. But: reservations are essential.
Absolutely terrible service. We had to keep flagging down our waitress to order drinks, then order appetizers, etc. two of the four meals came at least fifteen minutes before the others. I will not go to this restaurant again. My water glass was empty multiple times during the night. Overall, a terrible experience.
Had a large group for dinner and was seated upstairs which is very nice. Good food, good atmosphere, good time. Truely authentic Italian pizza.
Normally I love this place. Maybe this was an off night but the servers all seemed stressed and unhappy. It was a Wednesday night and I think there was a show going on nearby so it was a bit busy. Anyway, or main server was ok but we rarely saw her - nice though. Our bus boy was a clueless idiot. He never gave us water and when he delivered our pizza he literally threw it on the table knocking over a olive oil bottle. He did even apologize or right the bottle. It was bizarre.
Olio should have bread. You have to ask for it and when it does come it's 3 small pieces. You're an Italian restaurant, serve plenty of good bread!!!!
Nice place, good vibe and service. Pizza is good, but not 5* Would go again.
My sister and I had brunch at Olio Pizzeria on 12/3/17 and both ordered the DELICIOUS Strapazzate (smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, asparagus and mascarpone toast). We also tried a special yummy holiday cocktail (icy blue topped with egg white froth) and hazelnut panna cotta for dessert. Our server was there when we needed her and was especially friendly.
We had previously enjoyed Olio Pizzaria several times, but in this instance, they disregarded our reservation and seated us at a bar table in the midst of the jostling bar crowd and couldn't even visit our table for 10 minutes of so. The person in charge of seating people was unruly and unapolegetic, basically saying 'get over it; not my fault; email the owner'. Others waiting for a table were also told the same thing even though they had reservations as well. Probably won't be back. Too bad, because they have good food. Simply too crowded and unresponsive to their repeat customers.
We love eating here usually, but owing to a nearby concert and the beginning of the holiday season, the place was jam-packed and the problem of its crowded entry-way was magnified accordingly, with people getting testy and pushy, and hostesses and waiters looking and no doubt feeling strained and overworked. Put on a few extra staff, why don't you! While the food is always good and the prices reasonable by today's standards, the dining experience wasn't quite worth the candle on this occasion--a watery drink, a chopped salad that was also watery and somehow oversimple. Lovely lovely trout and carrots however.
We ordered two pizzas. One was pretty good but the other one was burned to the point to the unetable.
