About Olio e Limone Ristorante
Olio e Limone Ristorante, located in downtown Santa Barbara's historic arts district, serves artisanal Zagat-rated Italian cuisine. Meaning “oil and lemon” in Italian, their restaurant’s name reflects husband-wife team Alberto and Elaine Morello’s philosophy: rely on the integrity of the ingredients and quality of the preparation to provide Santa Barbara diners “simply sophisticated” Italian cuisine served in an inviting atmosphere with European hospitality. Start with burrata salad or white Mediterranean anchovies, then tuck into a plate of house-made ravioli filled with roasted eggplant and goat cheese, topped with a fresh tomato and basil sauce and shaved ricotta salata. And be sure to take home a bottle of their own olio, an organic extra-virgin olive oil made from Sicilian olive varieties. Private dining in the Cucina Room for up to 40 guests. Bonus: their pizza bar, salumi bar, wine bar and full bar next door at Olio Pizzeria, with private dining for up to 32 guests.

Olio e Limone Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I eat at restaurants regularly: 3-5 times per week. This experience was a severe disappointment. The ambience and noise level were very acceptable. The receptionist was appropriate and friendly. The waiter however was extremely arrogant/condescending. More disappointing however was the entrée: sole which was absolutely tasteless. In addition the accompanying broccoli was undercooked/stringy/tasteless. To charge $45 for this entree is criminal! We were visiting from out of town and this restaurant and Janes we're recommended in Santa Barbara. The meal at Janes was outstanding as was the ambience and service. There was no comparison between the two restaurants: like night and day.
On the way back to LA from Solvang, got hungry and stopped for lunch in SB. OH MY GOODNESS! This place was spectacular. Food was magnificent - the 4 of us had pork chops milanesa, Italian sausage & polenta, spaghetti w/ crab & shrimp & sausage ravioli - and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. Cocktails were great and servers very attentive without pushing us. We had a leisurely 2 hour lunch and had to roll to our cars because we were so full.
Two of us had a very nice meal at Olio Limone recently. The food was good and they willingly accomodated dietary needs. My friend has the seafood and really liked it. The bread is excellent too. I enjoyed the rack of lamb and it was a generous portion, cooked correctly, but the balsamic sauce was a bit too heavy. It isn't necessary to saturate a good cut of meat and the sauce didn't really seem to compliment or infuse with the lamb. The vegetables were fine and all in all, it was enjoyable and I'd return. It does get a bit loud as it's a good popular Italian restaurant but some of the tables are too close together.
I had a business lunch with some family and a friend. Restaurant was quiet as there were only a few tables busy. We had three different pastas and all were very good. Wine selections were outstanding if pricey. House salad was excellent. The desserts were well made and tasty. A good experience. We will return.
We were visiting Santa Barbara and several people recommended this restaurant. It did not disappoint. Wonderful, homemade pastas. Delicious sauces. I couldn’t decide between two dishes so the waiter brought me a little of both! Wonderful food and nice wine list.
Have dined here three times within 6 months. As a staple in Santa Barbara dining the front of house staff is amiable, efficient and professional. The kitchen generally has a solid operation in terms of timing & delivery of dishes and the quality is consistently good but not exceptional. Have had both reservations issues as well as waits on weeknights despite having a reservation. Its fine if a bit pricey - such as the $29 sweetbreads appetizer. Described as slightly breaded it was closer to moderate and so absorb the grease and the cook time over softened the sweetbreads.
This restaurant never fails to provide a special treat, almost no matter what menu item you order. However, I have to recommend the Duck Ravioli with mushroom sauce as the top of the top. The pasta is prepared perfectly and the sauce is just incredible!! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates fine food, served well.
We had not been in for a while and we both appreciated the great service and quality of the menu. It was a very busy Saturday evening, but the pace of service was excellent. My wife had the pistachio encrusted salmon and I had the veal, both of which were outstanding.
Visiting from the SF Bay Area ... wow , great food at a very reasonable price ! Had the butternut squash gnocchi and it was to die for; melted in my mouth which is a sign of being freshly made . Service was excellent ! When in the area again, we will return !
Oleo e Limone is upscale, and may feel a bit pretentious off the bat. We pressed through that feeling, and are so glad we did. I was vacillating between the risotto and duck ravioli and the staff helped narrow my choice down with great descriptions of each entree'. The squid ink seafood risotto was top notch - actually one of the most memorable dishes I've had at a restaurant in SB! My wife loved the duck ravioli as well. The entire experience was wonderful, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend or revisit Oleo e Limone!
We were on vacation and looking forward to a great dinner. The initial impression was that this was going to be a great dining experience. The restaurant was quiet and the setting was pleasing. As soon as we were seated, another couple was seated right next to us despite the fact that there were other tables available. Our elbows were almost touching, the seats were so close together. The other couple reseated themselves once they could see that this was a bit too close for both the tables' occupants' comfort. Our waitress was pleasant but absent. She gave us the minimum of attention. The other staff were offhand and acted as though we barely existed or in their way. Their attention was perfunctory and they used loud voices as they called to each other. My husband had ordered a cocktail and I had ordered a sparkling water. They gave him a glass of iced water when serving me my sparking water but at no time during the meal was I offered a glass of water even after I had finished my sparkling water and my husband his cocktail. The salad which we shared was good but it was the special and EVERY table was offered and ordered this almost as though the special needed to be pushed and finished with that evening. My husband liked his octopus pasta dish but my lamb pasta dish had underdone pasta, not very hot and had a cloying sweet taste.
I would not recommend this restaurant given the service, food quality and prices. There are lots of other choices in downtown Santa Barbara.
We went to Olio e Limone based on the review of the top ten restaurants in Santa Barbara while on vacation. We were not disappointed!! The ambiance was just right, the wait staff was very knowledgeable and friendly and the food was fabulous! As a matter of fact, it was so good, when our reservations for another restaurant fell through on the second night of our stay, we decided to go back to Olio e Limone for a second time!! The porcini mushroom risotto was so good we ordered it both nights. I'm sorry I don't live closer to eat there more often, but definitely will recommend it to anyone who goes to Santa Barbara!!
The food was amazing but our waiter seemed annoyed to have to service us. I had to ask him for bread and then butter/oil. After waiting a long time I asked him to check on our dinners because I saw people served who came in after us. We also waited a long time for the check and I had to ask for that too. I would definitely go back because the food was delicious but I would make sure I did not have that server.
I was at a conference at the Fess Parker and although food was provided 3 meals a day, we were tired of eating there. I looked online for a local restaurant and found he menu for this restaurant to be appealing. I was also looking for 4+ stars. There was road construction and one way streets so it was hard to find the place. We called and they were easily able to tell us how o get there. It was so worth the drive and effort to get there. We were both so pleased with our meal. We liked it so much we risked taking our leftovers home to Las Vegas the next day. Mine were still edible and just as good the second day. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat and I live in a town with many famous celebrity chefs whose food does not compare.
We took our daughter here with her friends, before UCSB started. I made Open Table reservations on, a Sunday at 7:30 for a party of 5. When we arrived, we had to go through the Olio bar area because construction was blocking the main restaurant door. The place was full and there seemed not to be a Host/Hostess as we waited to be greeted and seated. Other parties arrived after us and we all stood there hovering over other seated diners because the place is small and tables are very close to each other. Finally we were greeted and seated.
Our waiter introduced himself, very nice, took our drink orders while we looked over the menu. We loved the assorted Olives with Bread. 3 Beef Carpaccio were ordered for the table to all share. Entrees ordered were the Clams Linguine (daily special), the Grilled Veal Chop with Roasted Potatoes and Rosemary Jus and Sliced Beef Tenderloin over a Thin Potato Tart, topped with Arugula. All the food was prepared perfectly and tasted very good.
Atmosphere, small and quaint, a bit crowded. Food and Service, very good.
