Olio e Limone Ristorante
Olio e Limone Ristorante, located in downtown Santa Barbara's historic arts district, serves artisanal Italian cuisine. Meaning “oil and lemon” in Italian, their restaurant’s name reflects husband-wife team Alberto and Elaine Morello’s philosophy: rely on the integrity of the ingredients and quality of the preparation to provide Santa Barbara diners “simply sophisticated” Italian cuisine served in an inviting atmosphere with European hospitality. Start with eggplant souffle, then tuck into a plate of house made duck ravioli. And be sure to take home a bottle of their own olio, an organic extra-virgin olive oil made from Sicilian olive varieties.
Bonus: their Milano-styled Olio Crudo Bar, and authentic pizzeria next door at Olio Pizzeria.

I thought the food was decent, but not great. We ordered the "special" salad of arugula and peach and the peach was hard and not at all ripe, and the salad too salty from the nuts on top. The veal scallopini portion was plentiful, but the meat was tough. Best thing about the mean was the potatoes.
Any time I am in Santa Barbara, I make absolutely sure three weeks in advance to book a table at Olio e Limone, one of my favorite restaurants anywhere! Try the pappardelle with the quail sausage and mushroom! Exquisite. Such a gem of a place and can't wait until my next visit.
Food is outstanding. True Italian
Everything was spectacular. The service, the food, the ambiance.
service was excellent food was excellent-lucky to have this wonderful restaurant in Santa Barbara-loved the peach arrugala salad-desserts amazing!
The food was great and the wine list complete.
Delicious food in a thoroughly pleasant setting. Portioning is surprisingly generous given the excellent ingredients used in the food.
Had an excellent dinner here on a trip to SB! The food was delicious! We started with a peach and burrata appetizer special that was so good. My husband had the duck ravioli and I had the Pappardelle with quail and mushroom ragu. Everything we ate was authentic Italian food, like eating in Italy. It was all delicious! Their wine list was diverse, with lots of Italian options. My only complaint was that the Brunellos were over the top expensive, with the exception of one bottle. Maybe work on getting some more mid-range Brunellos. Otherwise, it was a wonderful dining experience!
We’ve eaten here several times over the past several years. The food is consistently good, the service attentive, and the wine selection interesting. It’s a small, cozy atmosphere, which we like
Olio is the best restaurant in Santa Barbara. Period. Hard stop. It's such a pleasure to dine there and always a warm, inviting and authentic experience.
Yes I'm biased. I've been going there for years and years and years. No, I have no economic or any other affiliation - it's just a great jewel and I'm happy to say so.
Because I love Olio e Limone, I suggested It to some out-of-state visitors. They loved it! The food, service, ambience all first-rate. They will be back. As will I.
Great food and service, nice parklet seating, good Siciliano wines and olive oil.
The only reason there are stars was the food; the food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service less so. One waiter had the grace and presence of a ham-fisted short order cook, including an aggressive and lingering nudge to my breast as he delivered the main course. (No I was not leaning over the table.) We had ordered wine (also delicious) which was placed in an ice bucket on the far side of our table. An excellent spot if we didn’t have to either plead for someone to refill our glasses or walk around the table to get to it. We were celebrating a big-deal birthday and 10 minutes after bringing dessert, my husband was presented with a candle stuck to an empty plate thunked on the table. I appreciate good staff are hard to find right now, but at $250 for two people I expect better.
We had to wait a bit for our initial service (not sure why we they weren’t that busy), but once they finally waited on us, the service and food were excellent!!
Charming and attentive staff, delicious food, outdoor charm all are present at Olio e Limone restaurant.
Have been going to Olio since 2007, maybe 5-8 times a year or even more often than that (except in recent Pandemic period) and imminently know the taste and quality of the food preparation. This time, we had the Pear Salad, Salmon Picatta and Osso Buco with 2 glasses of Pinot Noir. Salad was great and the Osso excellent, as usual. The Salmon was unfortunately over flavored (heavy handed) with a type of butter sauce on all the veggies and fish. Next time , hopefully we will remember to ask for sauce on the side, but we do not remember this being an issue in all the previous years. Perhaps, the owner/chef was not there overseeing the kitchen that night?
Table setting, linens and service all perfect. Price: $$$ as expected.
Awesomeservice and food
Wonderful Italian Restaurant, the food delicious and the service the best!
Need to enhance the outdoor dining area - ? Flowers ?Nicer linens.
Great Food!!! The dining experience was wonderful.
The service was remarkable the dishes cooked to perfection. No additional seasoning needed on any dish. Had the pear salad. The shrimp and artichoke pasta special snd Luna de mer. A must every time I bust Santa barbara
Lovely wine selection and excellent Italian cuisine.
Great food and service - love this place
Attentive wait staff, flexible chef, well-constructed and seasoned dishes
They told us they needed to leave the doors open. It was probably colder in the restaurant and it was in the outdoor seating with heaters. In general, I love the restaurant but dinner was a bit cold
The food selection good, but adding the 5 specials excellent. We both had specials and a special salad, all great. The wine great and our waiter John did not rush us and actually slow rolled every thing, it was perfect.
Yummy food and great staff
Classy Italian restaurant in the heart of Santa Barbara, not touristy. Good, attentive service and excellent food. Prices are on a higher scale, definitely a place to celebrate a special occasion. The owner is always there, making sure both food and service are up to par. Overall- a great experience!
The ambience was pleasant. The service was kind and gracious, however there were long periods when the waiter had not checked in at our table. The entree was surprisingly salty, and the mixed green salad was drenched in lemony flavored dressing.
I hope this is helpful.
Excellent food done in style. Proscuitto with truffle oil salad starter was a nice touch. Wine list well paired to menu.
Without doubt the most pleasant dining experience in Santa Barbara.
The food was expertly prepared and presented. The service was very good but a little slow. The ambiance outside was quieter than expected. A little bit of Italy in downtown Santa Barbara.
Very friendly wait staff and delicious food. One of our favorite Italian restaurants in town.
First-rate restaurant! We are here for a month on vacation, and this was our first meal out, and it was terrific. Service could not have been better, and food was excellent across the board. Sitting outside is paramount to us these days, and their outdoor setup was excellent. Could not have had a better experience!
We enjoyed this restaurant very much. The food was excellent and the service was excellent. I would go back.
Brought friends from Texas. They loved the food and the service. They were especially appreciative a desert was provided on the house.
They said on their return to Santa Barbara, Olio e Limone would be their first choice for dining out!
The food was good, not really good... We had better food at O & L before. It's fine dining and I expected more. Veal with shaved caciofi was ok, the artichoke was overcooked in a strange creamy sauce. Pasta dishes good, but not excellent.
Too many waiters in the room, probably also because of the inside/outside mix. Before it felt more like family business, one person takes care of everything at the table. Less tables overall. We have been dining in Ojai for example - Nocciola. Really excellent food and a family affair.
We’ve enjoyed the restaurant for years but last night was clearly not what we’ve seen in the past. The service was very slow and not up to the standards we’ve seen previously. The food was ok but, once again, not what we’ve seen in the past. We’ll be back but if the next time is anything like last night, we’ll likely speak the owners to let them know since we have always loved this restaurant and want them to be around for years to come.
