O'Learys Seafood Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We had a great dinner date here during restaurant week. The mussels were cooked perfectly -- enough to soak in the flavor of the white wine sauce, but not so much to make them chewy. The grouper and mahi-mahi were given unique approaches that challenged the palate and desert was great too.
Had high expectations and was underwhelmed. All the fish items were very fresh, but the sides and sauces overwhelmed rather than accented. The host did not make us feel welcome when we arrived, but rather seemed to reluctantly trudge through his duties. Salad seemed like it came from a bag. For the price point, I expected more.
From a customer service-quality of food perspective our evening was fair at best. The friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food were not anywhere near our past experiences at O'Leary's. We had a great time with our friends we invited us to join us during Annapolis Restaurant week-too bad the restuarant didnt try harder to impress us and our guest during this opportunity to market their service and quality of food. Sadly we wont return.
We chose to visit for restaurant week. Menu selection was great, dinner was quick, but not rushed, quality was high, service was outstanding. Ask to be seated somewhere else other than table 1 when making a reservation. I had to hear the host take reservations and talk to incoming guests/answer the phone instead of enjoying conversation and dinner because I was literally sitting shoulder-height against the host stand.
Went to O'Leary's for restaurant week in Annapolis, not having been there for a period of time. Not only was the food and service excellent, but the Chef tailored the entire meal for my wife who has Celiac disease. The experience was noteworthy and definitely repeatable. Thanks guys!
We visited on Valentine's night. Even though the restaurant was much busier than a normal Tuesday, we were still seated within 15 minutes of our reservation time. The staff handled the crowd well, everyone was knowledgeable and friendly and the food was excellent. The lobster cappucinno was wonderful!
O'Leary's is one of our favorites in the Annapolis area and always can be relied upon for a relaxing and very enjoyable experience. For Valentine's Day, the ladies entering the restaurant were provided with a red rose, a very nice touch. The overall atmosphere is very much one of a neighborhood with friends. The service is very personable and the young man who took care of us was thoroughly familiar with the menu and wine pairing options. The entree selections were intriguing and the presentation was exquisite as were the flavors. We had a great experience once again.
My husband and I recently stayed in Annapolis for the night. It was our first time in the area. I did a lot of research on the restaurants in the area because, being that we would only be there for one dinner, I didn't want to pick one that would disappoint. I read several local blogs that mentioned O'Leary's, naming it the best seafood restaurant in Annapolis. I obviously don't have a comparison, but. I can't imagine that another restaurant could top the meal we had! Everything was AMAZING!! The service, the food, even the bread that was served with the meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in search of a fabulous seafood dinner in Annapolis.
This is a wonderful place away from the hustle of Annapolis. Food was amazing, atmosphere was comfortable and soft, good small restaurant feel. Some critiques: drink list (aside from wine) was limited. All drink were a bit over priced (cocktails at 12-13, wine starting at 8 a glass). But if you are willing to spend the money and not worry about the bill, this is a wonderful place to go for a special occasion or just a nice dinner.
Best crab cakes around, but they also offer so much more. The Northwoods (for those of you that recall that fabulous restaurant that left such a void in Annapolis when it closed) influence is evident and that has taken o'Learys up a notch. Can't wait to go back.
This was my first visit to O'Leary's. I was taking a friend out to dinner, in honor of her birthday. We both had an enjoyable time. The food was very good, and the service was sometimes very good and sometimes kind of slow. I think the waitress may have been given too many tables to handle.
I recently moved to Annapolis and I was anticipating one of the best seafood meals I have ever had based on reviews. Unfortuntely, that was not my experience. My friend and I always order the whole Branzino to share whenever it is on the menu. Every other time, it is has been nicely divided into two fillets, not here. It was chopped across the middle and one of us served the head and the other the tail...very odd presentation, to say the least. Then there were the bones...
We may or may not try again.
Was just about perfect and so thankful for allowing us to sit in the booth even though only 2 of us. My only negative is that the special oysters on the halfshell was not mentioned to us. I overheard another server suggest it to the table next to us. While I loved the oyster Itaalien, I would have prefered the halfshell special. Otherwise perfect!
We ate at O'Leary's late on a weeknight, so the restaurant was emptying out by the time we ordered. I started with the blackbean soup special, which was very good. We had two signature dishes, the lemon sole stuffed with crabmeat and boursin cheese, which I found overly sweet with the apple slices in it, and the zarzuela, which a shellfish paella. The zarzuela was excellent, but the jasmine rice did not fit well with the dish.
First time i've eaten at O' Learys and a pleasant surprise. I have been very disappointed by many restaurants lately. I think many are cutting back and it shows. No so at O' Learys - a bit privy, but the food and service were excellent. There is no sit-down bar - tables only. The place is also fairly small but a new favorite place.
Our party had the salmon and duck specials, crab cakes, strawberry short cake, carrot cake, chocolate mousse, and a trifle. All were excellent. We arrived an hour ahead of our reservation due to the closing of route 50 changing our plans. On a December 28th evening they were able to seat us immediately at 5:30 PM.
Our server was great and very cute!!! I think she had a crush on me. She new what she was doing. She made us feel special.
It's the best seafood in Annapolis. Even there steak and pork dishes were great. It's not just for seafood lovers. It's great for everyone.
We chose O'Leary's for Christmas Eve from a recommendation from a friend. Upon arrival we were disappointed it was not on the water, but, after a fantastic meal, I said, "They don't need to be on the water, that was amazing!" Large portions and wonderful presentation. Would recommend this for any special occasion or just a nice night out. We used Open Table for the reservations and there were no issues.
Fine seafood restaurant, comfortable and pleasant, quiet, in a nice location very close to (with a view of) Annapolis Harbor. The menu was original and we definitely want to return to try other dishes. The rock fish was large but quite bony; the sword fish is very tasty, with well selected herbs. The serving staff was cheerful and prompt, attentive, and readily able to respond to what must have been fairly unusual request for "virgin" mixed drinks, which included interesting blends of juices. The artwork in the dining area could use a re-think, doesn't work together all that well (for our tastes, anyway).
