olea - New Haven
Went for Mother’s Day, they opened specially on Sunday for it. The restaurant was comfortably full, and the service was excellent from the start. They took our coats, sat us immediately, and we had a perfectly paced dinner from water to dessert. Everything was immaculately cooked, with perfect textures and interesting flavors. We skipped the Mother’s Day prix fix, and had the red snapper special and some pork dish I forget the name of. All the appetizers were exceptional and the presentation of our entrees was flawless. The wine list was interesting and had a nice range of prices, we got an incredible reserve red from 2012 for $62 - one of the best bottles I’ve had out ever. Only complaint is we felt the cuts of meat themselves were not exceptional, but they were only slightly below the standard set by everything else.
Excellent restaurant. Still one of the best in New Haven.
Beautifully presented and delicious cuisine.
The food is always delicious and the staff is always accommodating and friendly.
Olea is an attractive restaurant with superb staff. My friend and I each ordered a beef dish, hers was from the menu and mine was a short rib special. Both were delicious. The sides that came with them worked to complete the meal and the portion size was perfect. We also received a complementary amuse bouche as well as two pieces of chocolate to finish our meal.
Service was attentive without being intrusive. I highly recommend Olea.
The food is amazing!!! Strongly recommended.
Olea is by far the BEST restaurant in New Haven, many try to compete but they are still the best on all levels, both food quality and service. The roast pork and the branzino are excellent as is the tuna tartare Desserts are always inventive. A trip to New haven would be incomplete without a visit to Olea!!
Fantastic food beautifully presented in a great atmosphere, highly recommended. The foie gras is to die for!
Excellent service and food as always.
Went to Olea for a special occasion recently. Food and service were exceptional. Was also able to enjoy downtown New Haven prior to our meal which was fun as well. The wait staff was attentive to our every need and more. The pace of service was perfect and the food was delicious along with a tasty Spanish wine pairing offered by our waiter. Presentation of the food was also excellent and a reminder how attention to detail can add quite a bit to a meal. We will return soon.
Took my fiance out to celebrate completing her PhD with both of our parents. The staff was amazing from honoring my special request for a surprise champagne toast on arrival, to being perfectly attentive all night - they were top notch! The food was as always superlative from apps to dinner and dessert. Thank you Olea team a truly special evening!
Food is decent and service is decent. However, the food portion is a little small.
our go-to place for a special event. Juan Carlos and his staff are very attentive and the food is always wonderful
Wonderful for our business meeting with warm atmosphere, professional service, and delectable choices off the menu.
The creative and delicious food was remarkable. Service outstanding as well. It was very noisy though, with patrons who didn’t know how to modulate their voices.
Loved the service; equal to the food and well chosen wine list.
From the moment we entered the restaurant, we felt welcomed. The coat check person, the hostess, and our waiter were friendly and solicitous of our comfort.
The food is always well prepared and artfully presented. My husband and I believe Olea is one of our very favorite restaurants in New Haven.
Olea has excellent service and well prepared and presented meals. Just be advised the menu is limited and the fixed menu largely unchanged from our last visit a couple years ago. If we lived closer our more frequent visits would be dictated by the specials which on the occasion of our last visit would not have satisfied.
A jewel in New Haven! We can't wait to return to enjoy the excellent food and ambiance.
Doting staff, our food was out quickly, and a great meal!
I can’t wait to go back to Olea. Impeccable service and absolutely delicious food. For appetizers, we had the octopus, shishito peppers, and tuna tartare. For dinner we had the branzini and the bacalao. I wanted everything on the menu- can’t wait to try some different menu items next time.
Very sophisticated, yet warm atmosphere. Delicious and unique dishes.
I would travel to new haven from nyc just for this restaurant. It was phenomenal
We really enjoy going to dinner there. Always a treat.
Excellent food! Of International Quality!
They really know what they are doing.
Leave space for dessert!!
The menu continues to get even more interesting, and better than its predecessor, Ibiza. The fixed price menu was fabulous: my selections were butternut squash soup, branzini and white chocolate mousse. All three wonderful! The restaurant filled up and got noisier while we were there, but a table in the rear of the room was not unpleasantly noisy. My guests and I prefer to dine sans "buzz."
Attentive waitstaff and amazing meal. I will definitely go there when in New Haven
Beautifully presented food. Really good, attentive service. Great menu and wine recommendations.
Incredible food. Incredible service. Highly recommend this restaurant!
This is our second time at Olea, the food was amazing and not a fluke. We tried the Chef tasting menu instead of ordering off the menu with the wine pairing. My only disappointment was the wine pairing leaned towards white wines, and we do prefer reds. Our waiter was the same as the first time and he is very talented, not a complaint there either. We will be back.
Exceptional in ever positive sense
Great experience, we will definitely be back!
Very good Spanish food. The cochinilla was a little underspiced but still delicious. The atmosphere is warm and relatively informal. The service is professional and timely.
One of our favorite places to dine. Excellent from quality, preparation & presentation of food to the excellent service Deserves ALL the stars!!
Very good food but extremely noisy when full.
The menu had something for everyone.
The food was excellent. Especially the oxtail croquettes, Tina tartar, duck breast, and beef tenderloin. I can’t pick a favorite because it was all amazing. The torija for desert was spectacular. Amazing options and came out quickly. The wait staff was extremely attentive. They even wished us a happy anniversary. We have been coming here for years and will continue to come.
As always, great food with fantastic service. Our place to eat when we go to New Haven.
Olea is wonderful in every way: efficient and friendly service that is never intrusive; a lovely room; and, most important, superb cuisine that is interesting without being weird and that is utterly delicious. The only real problem is deciding what to choose since the menu is so tantalizing!
Apps were better than the entree, and the entree was good. Service was attentive, and no complaints, but less than you would expect or hope for. Parking validation is nice since parking on the street is challenging.
